***Viva la Verve! July Week 2, 7/3/09***
Hello and welcome to week 2! I'm in a super big rush right now, have to work tonite, grr! So I'm posting this early because I probably wont' have time later
For VLV Newbies, here are the deets! Every Friday I'll post a new sketch with a {twist}. The {Twist} is an extra requirement for your sketch card! Could be an inspiration challenge, a color challenge, a limited supplies challenge, who knows! There is no solid deadline for each sketch, but they DO need to be uploaded to the VLV Gallery by the last week of the month! For July, there will be five sketches and all five sketches must be uploaded by MIDNIGHT CST on 30 July! I'll announce the winner on 31 July! Ready to play?
This weeks' sketch is a Technique twist! I have chosen two techniques for you to play with! You don't have to do both, just choose your favorite I chose to play with Poppin' Pastels for mine, SO MUCH FUN! I'm doing the Burnt Batik tomorrow though See below for step-by-step instructions:
Poppin' Pastels
Burnt Batik
Don't freak out when you see the doo-dads on the sketch, those aren't a requirement, I was just playin around with brushes
Keywords this week are Verve and VLVJul02
My Sample-Poppin Pastels
My Sample-Burned Batik
VLVJul02 Gallery
Have a fantastic 4th of July weekend!

Great sketch and challenge this week Amber! I've never tried the poppin' pastels technique before and I love the soft look! Thanks for sending me into unknown zones to learn something new! Here's my card:

I have not done Poppin' Pastels for a long time, and in the past I almost always used the same flower. I tried a different stamp this time - it is one I usually do in all black. I am happy with the way it turned out - even though because of my image I had to cover part of it with the circle and the ribbon. I hope I interpreted the sketch correctly.

YAY! I finally opened my pastels!
Too bad I thought my mom would like the colors in the first card so much that I modified it.
First Card
Then I completed a second that stuck within the sketch a little more
Second Card
Love the sketch and the twist, which took me out of my comfort zone and hopefully towards a new one!

Here is my card using the Burnt Batik method on cream card stock. Having gone to the trouble of doing it I couldn't cover it up - so I have given the sketch another twist! http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...&ppuser=132530

Oh this one was a tough one for me. I wanted to use the burned batik technique, but once it was done AND dry it didn't go with the rest of my card. I switched to Poppin' pastels technique.
Here's my card.
Thanks for a grand sketch and twist Amber.

After a week at VBS with 215 kids from K - Grade 5 my mojo was gone beyond recovery (not to mention me LOL!). I opted to use a big flower for the circle. Not thrilled with this, but it will have to do for now.
Went with the poppin' pastels - fun technique I havent' down forever - and it was about what I could handle right now Will take a better picture tomorrow as it was late in the day when I took this one.
Sketch #2

Here's my card: VLV Poppin' pastels
I used some Basic Grey bling in place of the swirls on the sketch - I'm going to be sending this card to my grandma and she loves bling!

I used the poppin' pastel technique on this card. I need a little practice with the technique. I'm finally getting the chance to upload it, Verve with a Pop.
