Default Dyeing Flowers in pretties kit?

Can anyone tell me how to dye the flowers in the pretties kit? I bought some and now want to color them, but I don't know how.

Thanks!

I have colored the flowers with a SU! marker and been happy with the results.

In one of the SU catalogs, there was a recipe to mix ink and water in a small container and drop your flowers in there to dye them. I have not tried it, but my niece did and said it worked really well.

I am going to try it this weekend.

You can also use either markers or blender pens and reinkers or inkpads, along with an aquapainter. You can also try pressing the flower onto your inkpad..that will pick up quite a bit of colour (especially if you use craft ink) that you can then blend.

You can also use chalks as well as craft ink.

Thanks everyone for your replies! I am ready to play around with them. For those who have tried it with water and reinkers, how much of the water and ink do you use? I want a lasting affect. I am planning on making then into hair things for my daughter. I have the hardest time finding flowers in the color I want, and several of the stampin up colors are ones I need. So I hope it works!

Thanks!

I colour the flower with my marker, and then I use a lot of water to blend it all to the shade I want, reapplying as necessary. As long as it doesn't get really wet once you've got it the way you want, the colour should stay true.

Try dyeing your flowers like dyeing ribbon in this tutorial.

May I please put in my 2 Cents? It's a slight hyjack, but not really....

I dyed on of the big ones with a re-inker/water solution. I used a heat tool to speed the process...It smelled like body odor on a teenaged boy after running 10 miles in 90 heat with a full football uniform on...who FORGOT deodorant! YIKES! (And, I did it in FRONT of my Stamp Camp participants...I still haven't sold a Pretties Kit! LOL)

Then...I put it back in the Pretties Kit container and forgot about it....A week later, I wanted to use a small flower....ALL OF THEM WERE Pink PASSION! The color from that ONE had "leeched" onto the others because the re-inker wasn't color fast on the polyester flower! I called Demo Support and they suggested I BLEACH them back.. I still haven't done it, and it's been since the week they were first offered! LOL!

I don't have any suggestions on how to stop this "leeching" process. I can say, though, that "painting them" with an aqua painter and the ink on the lid of the Classic Ink seems to work better. I have seen some beautiful flowers in the gallery done this way.

I colored them with my copics... seriously, this made it worth it having the copics...
The first card I tried this with is here. Soooooo glad I have the matching copic for all of the SU! colors!

O-O-O-O!!!! I have one!! My incredible upline told me this one and it's gorgeous! Sponge CRAFT ink onto flower, cover with Iredescent Ice and heat set. Be careful heat setting as it may start to burn. We both did this with Summer Sun on the large flower from the Pretties Kit and it's to die for. It looks great with a Chocolate corduroy brad in the center too.

Two months ago my demo showed us how to color them using the Stampin Pastels. I'm not into pretties/primas, so the technique wasn't for me. The chalk worked well and you can control the intensity of the color with the chalks very easily. I would think a blender pen would also intensify/remove some of the color if need be.

I used both the SU daubers with classic ink pads and Copic markes - both work great and do not require any "alcohol setting"!

I embossed pretties flowers one time. I actually embossed it in white because I didn't want the DSP behind it to shower through the flower. I wonder if you could sponge on craft ink as someone else suggested and then emboss with clear embossing powder? The embossing powder makes the flower a little stiffer but then that might be good for your hair bows depending how you want it to look.

I have used SU! markers- worked well, copics-fabulous and direct to ink pad with brayer- you get very intense colour-perfect plum looked like eggplant! Ok if you want that look! The classic ink fades very quickly and runs if used with any waterbased glue or something like stickles! I learned that when I used crystal effects for glueing the dyed flowers to my triple clipboard.
