I want to give my girlfriends a little something for Valentines but I don't want it to be a food item. Anyone have a suggestion besides notebooks, pens, notecards.
A co worker came to work with a cute idea she had made, something I had not seen before in this area. A lotion bar, recipes are on websites. Beeswax, cocoa butter, almond oil, fragrance oils. You rub it on your hands, then it warms with your body temperature, and you can rub it in. She used a cute heart shaped mold. I am going to a soap/candle supply shop today to see how much it will cost me for supplies to make some. I also need some non food ideas for small birthday/occasion gifts for co workers and friends.
There's a recipe on SCS somewhere for "Denise'sLotion" - it's supposed to be the best lotion EVAH. I'm giving away for Valentines Day (calling it Cupid's Potion Lotion).
I don't have it handy but if you do a search for Denise'sLotion I'm sure it'll come up.
(BTW - it's really an easy recipe - only 3 ingridents.)

A lotion bar is awesome! (I don't make my own but buy them.) Have you already done things like coasters and photo frames?
I have altered frames, especially at Christmas. And I am always on the lookout for boxes I can alter, to put cards in,for gifts. It's nice to wak into some of my friend's offices, and see the candles, coaster, jars out on their desks for different occasions. That why I got excited about the lotion bar idea, it's something different.
How about a Valentine's Mug? Bed Bath and Beyond has clear mugs on one of their end racks and I bought a bunch of them last Easter, filled them with layers of Jelly Bellies and made cut out flowers on sticks and put them in the cup of JBs, tied a little ribbon with a nametag around the top of the handle and they were a HUGE hit. I have a great picture of it if you PM me, I can send you the pic. It was great and after eating the JBs they still have the mug to use every day.
I just made some altered Target dollar spot mailboxes for my sons' teachers for V-Day. You could include something little inside or even make some matching notecards for an easy and inexpensive gift.

Mix all this together with hand mixer in METAL bowl.(it will look like thick cake frosting)
Then spoon into jars with a METAL spoon
(note: don't use anything plastic or your stuff may taste like lotion)
