Today's technique is so easy but such a wonderful way to get a POP out of a timeless technique. I saw this technique demonstrated by Ann Clemmer a/k/a You Betcha!. Ann's blog Stamper.Dog has been a source of fantastic video tutorials done in an entertaining way that keeps me coming back for more time and time again. To view Ann's video tutorial on this great technique, CLICK HERE.
If you are on dial-up or have difficulty watching videos on your PC, I'll try to describe the technique.
Here is what you will need for today's technique:
Cardstock
Ink
Stamps
Gift bag tissue paper
Two Way Glue Stick or your favorite type of glue stick
Step One. Cut your tissue a little bigger than the piece of cardstock that you will use to adhere it onto.
Step Two: Stamp your image onto the tissue paper and let the ink dry before moving onto step three.
Step Three: Wad up the tissue into a ball getting lots of crinkles. Then gentle unroll the wadded ball of tissue. CAREFUL - don't tear it. Next - spread out the tissue, leaving some of the wrinkles visible. This will help achieve the faux silk effect.
Step Four: Stamp the same image onto a piece of white or very light colored cardstock.
Step Five: Using paper snips (sharp, small blade scissors) cut out the portion of your image that you want to POP.
Step Six: Take your colored cardstock and apply your glue stick to the entire surface. Now lay your white cut-out onto the cardstock and place the tissue on top - aligning the images. Press your tissue paper onto the glue covered cardstock, and be sure to leave in the little wrinkles. You can either trim off the excess tissue from the sides, but it's just as easy, and gives the piece a more finished look, if you just fold the extra tissue around the cardstock and stick the edges down on the backside of the cardstock.

Don't forget to use the keyword TLC200 (no spaces) when you upload your card.
Hint for next week: Fold, Fold, Fold. (HA!)

Reason: changed wording to 1st!
I'm on vacation too...it makes me wonder why we are up so early when we don't need to be.
I got up because I have tons of errands to do. Now I can do a card BEFORE I do those errands! Have a Wonderful Holiday Lynn.

Same to you my dear...It is so cold here that I hate the thought of getting outside, but I too have a couple of errands to run as well...but not until I've had massive quantities of coffee.

Oooo faux silk is one of my FAVE things to do right now....I was hoping that's what the tissue paper hint meant last week! Can't wait to try this new idea, thanks, Lynne!

Force of habit. We are all so used to having to get up for work that our body's natural alarm clock says "get up". At least we have your posted challenge to make it worthwhile. Can't wait to try this. Just have to find the tissue paper.

My image is 1st, after Lynn's!!!!!! This is only the 2nd or 3rd challenge I've done!! I thought it turned out O.K. Will appreciate your comments!!!
Thanks, Cindy
By the way, it's 4:45 in the afternoon where I am, so it's easier for me to be motivated--not just getting up like most of you!!!!!
What a fun technique. Have seen this demo'd before but never done it because I can never find my tissue paper. When i do find my tissue paper, i forget what I wanted it for! Not sure if I'll have time to squeeze this in today as I'm still working on Christmas cards!

Got up early to start work and saw that the challenge was already posted, yay. What a fun challenge this was, glad I had some time to get it done this morning.
Oooooo, this sounds fabulous. Will definitely play.
I'm retired 2-1/2 years already and I'm STILL up at 5:30. I love the mornings. Peaceful, quiet and can spends loads of time here! Not to mention it's -6 degrees in Illinois and I'm not going anywhere!'
I love the mornings too, but didn't go to bed until midnight - thinking that it would help me sleep in a bit, but no dice. I'm a creature of habit and my habit unfortunately, is to wake up between 4:30 and 5.
It's 2 degrees here today with a wind chill even colder...but on the bright side, it's suppose to warm up to 14 this after. HAHAHA.

After a long break from the challenges (guess I needed to re-charge my creative batteries) I took up today's Faux Silk with a Pop and what fun! Here is my card. I will certainly use this technique again! Love how it turns out.

I know the feeling - only I have been retired for 16 years - and I jusr wake up earlier and earlier - often 4 a.m. I agree, it is nice and quiet then.
Great technique. I will have to play MUCH later - maybe by then I will have figured out just what part of the image is the cut out underneath portion LOL! Right now we are in the car and I am feeling so fortunate - we are headed to spend time with "kids" and grandkids - and I have been using the Verizon modem for internet - so I can surf while Dh does the driving!

I am so inspired! As soon as I get dressed/clean the kitchen/do the grocery store thing/make food for us to eat/sweep the dog hair up, I am doing this! See ya' in an hour....yea, sure.;) Like I am really going to do those things....
This looks super cool and easy! I'm waiting on company so, I don't think I'll get to make a card today.........Hopefully, tomorrow!! Hope you all have a GREAT day! ~Lori
Silk Shower of Flowers
A quick and easy one from me as time is not something I have a lot of today. But I really wanted to give this technique a go, and after a couple of false starts with my tissue tearing, and not placing it properly on the card, I got there.
Thank you so much, Lynn.
This sounds really cool. Hopefully I'll get to play today, I haven't been able to the last 3 challenges.
