Round 11 Secret Sister Card Kit Swap: Closed/Chatting/Mailing

Welcome to Round 11 of the Secret Sister Card Kit Swap!

*** Special thanks to Tracie (taclary) for her awesome job hosting Round 10!

*** We will run from August through December. We will again have 3 groups, "showering" 1 person in our group each month.

*** Remember that we are going BACK TO BASICS ...the card kit and maybe an extra goodie like Linda suggested

Card Kit Contents:
1. 2-3 stamped images---images should be stamped in Copic-friendly ink, be smudge free, and have room to crop.

2. Two 6"x6" pieces of DP

3. Minimum of 1 yard of ribbon, cord, fiber, trim, etc.

4. Set of embellishments: Examples are brads, eyelets, charms, hardware, gems, flowers, etc.

5. Last, but not least, the EXTRAS!!! These are the things that make a good kit great: Examples are CS for card base, envelopes, punched or die cut shapes, picture of a finished card using the supplies, extra paper (images, ribbon, or embellies) etc. Think of a kit you have gotten in a swap that made you say "Wow"---that's the idea!

Special Hints:

*** Please coordinate the contents of your kit.

*** Please stamp with a juicy pad to ensure your images are dark, crisp, and clean.

*** As always, please feel free to contact me anytime with questions or concerns.

*** If you upload a card made with a kit, could you please use the code SSCKS11? This way they will all be in the same gallery!

Vickie Y 07-20-2013 01:41 PM

WooHoo! Glad to be "Back to Basics!" I'll complete questionnaire tomorrow. :)

JadeOnline 07-20-2013 02:24 PM

Anyone in my group want to trade months with me? This is the third round in a row that I've been the first month. I suppose it doesn't matter, but sometimes it's nice to have that anticipation of "I'm coming up soon!!". If anyone is willing, I'd like to switch.

Thanks,
Heather

Cardmaking Likes:
1. Bright, happy, bold colors
2. Flowers (i.e. Primas)
3. Buttons

Cardmaking Dislikes:
1. Glitter
2. Eyelets
3. I am having trouble loving seam binding or organza ribbons. They don't tie "neat"!

Birthdate: April 15

What is your favorite color? Blues generally.

Favorite holiday? Christmas!

Favorite stamp company or images you would like to try? Penny Black is a fav and has so many new sets I love! I'd like to try some Whipper Snapper or High Hopes. Masculine images too (so hard to find!). Things with chicks, owls..all fun!

Just for fun, your favorite snack or treat? Chocolate, caramel. Somebody (Pat or Vickie?) sent me some Giraradelli Sea Salt Carmel Chocolates one round....Mmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!

Hobbies? Reading on my kobo, playing with Claire, crafting, sleeping. :D

Any special info your Sis should know? Normally I'm a "no flat stickers" kinda gal. However...I have a sticker eater now. She's 17 months old, completely adorable and stacks 'em up on her artwork like there's no tomorrow. If you have extras or partial packages around your craft room you won't use, I would be happy to give them a loving home with a little girl who will appreciate them. Her motor skills are still a work in progress, so generally "stiff" stickers on acrylic background papers work best for her.

JadeOnline 07-20-2013 02:39 PM

Okay, clarification....I am all for "back to basics". When we say a traditional kit plus 1 extra goodie, do we mean crafting goody or TOTAL package?

For me, part of the problem is that I have TOO MUCH STUFF! That being said, one can never have too much chocolate or too many handmade projects to admire (and copy).

JadeOnline 07-20-2013 02:54 PM

Am I allowed to post a few more questions, for idea generation?

leslie0090 07-20-2013 04:14 PM

Heather it doesn't matter to me what month as long as its ok with Angela!

monkeymama 07-20-2013 04:14 PM

Heather, Linda had the suggestion that we could put a little something in with our basic kit. I was thinking I might include a stamp or die or something...I will still likely put a little edible treat too...just because I like to!

Post any questions you have for the group...I love to read the responses!

I am thinking I may have some stickers for Claire...now, where might they be?

monkeymama 07-20-2013 04:15 PM

Hey Denise! You and I were posting at the same time...you girls switch it up if you want to...whatever works.

Queenbee Jo 07-20-2013 05:50 PM

Heather ... I have a HUGE amount of stickers for your "eater" that are headed your way. Yay, I have a home for them that is not MY home!!

Queenbee Jo 07-20-2013 06:02 PM

1. chipboard
2. eyelets

Any special info your Sis should know? Like Linda said, you guys pretty much know me.

JadeOnline 07-20-2013 06:34 PM

Denise, THANK YOU!! :D Angela, can you make the change in the first post so people don't get confused?

Thank you to those who will hunt down stickers as well. I went to the dollar store today and about about 12 bucks worth of stickers. I cut the sheets down into pieces of about 10. The stickers do have a tendency to migrate onto things (she doesn't like to leave them be, but re-sticks them places), but it sure gives me some piece and quiet when I need to cook dinner or something. Hungry baby (Up! Up!) can easily be distracted by stickers! :D

Note: I {{{{hug}}} you gals-always happy with my surprise packages!

JadeOnline 07-20-2013 09:12 PM

Okay, here are my additional questions. I thought up these questions because I find that sometimes we have our favorite things and don't really think to mention it, and then we find out that someone else has been wishing for it or admiring it! So, rather than put down what we like generally, I thought I'd kinda reverse it...put down what you have so we can all admire it. That way, if someone says "oooh, I love your insert stamp name here!", it might just be an excuse to include it in a card kit that shows up at your door.

So, here are the questions:

1. Name three non-consumable things in your craft room (i.e. stamps, dies or embossing folders) that might make the rest of the group go “EEEK! Please share!”. (i.e. unique items, favorite items, etc.)
1)
2)
3)

2. Name three consumable things in your craft room that seem to breed every night and you'd LOVE to share (i.e. ribbon, papers, embellishments, stuff that comes in massive bulk packs, etc.)
1)
2)
3)

3. What?!? I don’t have any __________themed images? How does that happen???

4. Time for a refill on my ___________.

And, once you have had opportunity to read some of the answers, you can fill this last question out...feel free to pick from everyone's lists. Someone in your group may have something mentioned by someone else.

5. I spy with my little eye, something someone has that floats my boat and tickles my fancy! List as many as you like….

Susanne527 07-20-2013 09:19 PM

Heath...I am going to get back to your list tomorrow...I got a fan blowin', non consumable plastic table clothes (change color of them all the time down here)...I NEED to make an exclusive SU corner (possible rolly cart transformation-for classes)...oh let me think about this...nothing is "consumable" down here--bought a candle from Yankee Candles tonight to get rid of the "basement humidity smell" hahaha!

JadeOnline 07-20-2013 09:22 PM

And, my answers...

1. Name three non-consumable things in your craft room (i.e. stamps, dies or embossing folders) that might make the rest of the group go “EEEK! Please share!”. (i.e. unique items, favorite items, etc.)
1) Stampin’ Up “Yukon”. This is pretty much my go-to set for masculine images. It’s an older set, so I don’t see it mentioned very often.
2) An extensive Riley & Company Moose Collection - anyone else love that critter?
3) MFT Fish Tail Dies

2. Name three consumable things in your craft room that seem to breed every night and you'd LOVE to share (i.e. ribbon, papers, embellishments, stuff that comes in massive bulk packs, etc.)
1) I just bought a jumbo package of pearls (round, non-adhesive). Anyone need some?
2) Silver Dew Drops (or whatever they’re called)
3) Glitter Brads

3. What?!? I don’t have any good luck or get well themed images? How does that happen???

4. Time for a refill on my Kiwi Kiss ink pad or Stamp Scrub.

5. I spy with my little eye, something someone has that floats my boat and tickles my fancy! List as many as you like….
1)

Susanne527 07-20-2013 09:23 PM

Christmas music---I am still in old mode with cd's plugged into my cd player--anyone have a Christmas music wish? Something that will make you happy while ordering presents on line or wrapping them up?...

Linda Palmer 07-21-2013 09:44 AM

Pat, I am so glad you are in. I was worried that you might opt out because I know you are very busy on the weekends. It wouldn't be the same without you so am happy you are still in with us.

patriciae 07-21-2013 10:49 AM

Hi Linda, no I found that I was in the group when it started when Vickie posted the list of members a couple of weeks ago. I didn't realize that the Magnolia swappers had just formed this group right before I joined. Anyway I really look forward to the swaps and enjoy keeping up with everyone in this group.
We don't have any out of town trips planned until September so hoping I will be able to catch up on the other thread and to scrap some of the pictures from my recent crops. You are right about staying busy. I work full time and every Friday evening from 5-11 we have a crop at the new LSS. THis coming Saturday we have a 9-5 crop with the theme Christmas in July so I'm staying busy even when we are in town!! LOL
I've started making a two page scrapbook layout and kits for the new LSS. Instead of paying me for the work I get a discount!! She wants me to start card kits too so I can work on them when I'm in the shop and get a price break on my purchases. Can't pass that up!! Anyway thats what I've been up to and like I always say it keeps me off the streets!! LOL
