I am sure it is frustrating. I just checked what the rate would be and used the last box I sent for a swap. If I were to send that same box to Canada it would cost $53.95. I wouldn't be able to participate at all if I had to pay that amount. Sorry, I just can't ship to Canada.

I live on the US/Canada border and we find it cheaper to drive forty minutes to the US USPS store to mail our packages and pick up our packages as shipping across the border is crazy expensive both ways.

I want to participate. Would prefer to stay in the US. Just checked the USPS site and the smallest flat rate box was $20 to ship...doesn't make sense to spend as much on shipping as the contents of the box. If it didn't cost so much I wouldn't care.

Perhaps that should be noted.... US willing to ship to Canada with US mailing address and vice versa... those Canadians with US mailing addresses should note so? Just an idea.

Questionnaire

What are a few of your favorite craft companies? Whippersnapper, SU, Hero Arts, Gina K, Penny Black (penguins, dogs), Inky Antics, Stampendous (changitos!) Don’t do a lot of floral – like cute animals, trees, leaves, etc. I have not bought a stamp in the last two years – so anything that came out in that timeframe I KNOW you will not duplicate.  I’m also open to used stamps if you have some you have tired of.

What are your go to colors when crafting? Autumn/Fall colors…greens/browns/maroons.

What items do you use the most on your projects? Pop up adhesives, piercer,

What sort of paper/ card stock do you like to use on your projects?

What items do you use for finishing touches? Stickles, ribbons, mini brads

What is your style like when you craft? Ex: retro, trendy, traditional, etc. Leaning towards more simple. I don’t like ‘thick’ cards with huge embellishments.

Do you scrap, make cards, or alter? Make cards.

What are your least favorite items to use and would never be items that you would buy? Stickers.

What items would make you the happiest craft girl in the world? Any cuttlebug embossing plates new in the last two years, any new stamps.

Do you use copics or any other special pens or markers?
I have a few select colors for shading but mostly use prismacolor pencils.

Special personal interests :

Who is your scrap/card/craft icon? Blog links are welcome Don’t have one.

Do you drink coffee or teas? No. Hot chocolate or Mt Dew.

What scents are your favorite? Vanillas/ocean scents/fresh air/etc.

What's your favorite craft store? Joann’s or Michael’s.

Do you have a favorite sweet treat? Reeses (cups, pieces, or fastbreak)

Other info: I quit stamping two years ago when I got divorced and moved. I’m just now getting around to pulling my stamps out of storage. So that’s why a couple categories say anything in the past two years.

Unfortunately with the new jump in the postal rates it has gotten really expensive. I have a very good friend from Canada and it is very frustrating for her as well. She is always shipping stuff home to family and friends. Now she just saves up the big stuff and takes it with them when they go up or sends it back with her folks when they visit. Just out of curiosity what does it cost on the Canadian side to ship to the US?

Yay! Another Canadian!!

And Joan, you're right. The costs for mailing are ridiculously expensive. There have been at least a few occasions where the mailing cost alone exceeded the total amount spent on the package items. But as you can see, there are not lots of Canadians around/on SCS. I have just come to accept that if I want to participate in a swap, it usually means spending a minimum of around $60. Needless to say, I am already in the process of saving for next year's Christmas swaps, LOL. And I went NUTS at the Christmas clearance sales. Also, every time I make a craft purchase for myself, I try to pick up an item or two for future swaps to have on hand. Now, if only I could quit smoking! I could put that money towards more crafts! I have never tried it or anything like it, but I'm willing to bet that crafting is more addictive than crack cocaine. But that's probably just my insanity, LOL.

I quit smoking 29 years ago. I was a chain smoker. I just quit one cigaret at a time. When I usually smoked one I just put it off a little while until I just quit.

You don't want to know how nasty I get when I even try to cut back. I swear I smoke for the benefit of those around me. You haven't seen crabby until you've seen me trying to reduce the amount I smoke.

My dad smoked for 30 years before he quit. He started at 11 and quit when he was 41. I remember trying to get him to quit by flushing his cigarettes down the toilet and poking holes in them with a pin. He smoked in the house and I hated it. I have asthma and am allergic to smoke and I believe it's because he smoked around me. One year He got pneumonia and ended up in the hospital. After a week in the hospital and not being able to smoke, he quit. After he quit, he went through tootsie pops, gum and toothpicks like crazy! But, he never smoked again! And I love it!

My Mom smoked for 50! years - from 16 to 66. After her third time in the hospital for hernia repair (due to constant coughing and lung infections) she quit cold turkey. Unfortunately, she did develop lung cancer at age 72 and passed away at age 78. Miss her still

My Dad smoked for years and years. One day he decided to quit and went cold turkey. He always smoked Camels. What he did to quit was keep one cigarette in his shirt pocket so that he could smell it. It worked!
