WHAT GOT YOU INTO CRAFTING!?
I used to scrapbook when I was in grade school. Back then it was the old scrapbooks that were held together with string and basically construction paper inside. I don't know what ever happened to my scrapbook that I had. I have a sneaky suspicion my mother threw it out since she as a neat freak.

Anyway, after that I did ceramics and my sister taught me how to cross-stich. I have always enjoyed project type crafts and that is probably why I love altering items. I used to stay with my aunt on her farm and we would make crafts for her Sunday school class.

Growing up my mom was a seamstress and had a small business sewing for people. I too remember sitting on the floor of her sewing room watching her sew. I do regret though that she never really taught me to sew. Not sure why. She did however, teach me cooking skills and taking care of plants.

In the late 90's I got back into scrapbooking as it was becoming popular. I wanted to capture my kids years on scrapbook pages and tell a story. From there, I managed to acquire 8 plus die cutting machines! I know it is so insane. I progressed into making cards and so that brings me to what I do today. Bascially, card making, scrapbooking and altering items. I don't cross-stitch anymore and not really interested in making ceramics either. I enjoy my craft room and blogging.

Oooh, can't wait to see. Yours is in my car so I can get to the post office one day this week to mail it to you. I don't want it to get lost or damaged in the shuffle of moving out of apt to house.

AACCCKKKK! Why did you have to COUNT THEM!???
That made me stop and think.
I have the Big Shot. I used to have a Cuttlebug but gave it away. I also have a Quick Cutz one somewhere I think that my sister gave me but I never have used. I started with the small personal Cricut, then my sister bought one at a yard sale too for me so I had two but did give one away. Then I got the Expression last year for Christmas.

I was in the house this morning doing a walk through and when they stopped in the craft room and saw the built in desk and shelves in the closet, the realtor asked me if that was where my sewing machine would go.
And I had to laugh. Really? Which one? The sewing machine or the quilting/embroidery Babylock? Or maybe the computer with all the crafting and photo software? Or maybe one or more of the Cricuts (can you ever have too many to cut simultaneously)?? Or perhaps I'll finally unpack the Your Story machine I bought a couple years ago but never did try. Or maybe the Purple Cow laminator should come out of the box too? Hmmm...
Far too many machines. Good thing there are 6 other outlets in the room (I had extras put in, imagine that)....

Oh I had to laugh at your post here! It is totally insane the stuff we tend to think we need! But it is fun!

Of course, did say 8 plus machines...I really didn't want to count all of them.

I's never heard of steampunk until I was in a swap for ATCs here on SCS a few years ago... and wasn't too much into it then, but it has grown on me. The botanical garden here has an annual event that is like a carnivale, and Steampunk is the basic costume design that most wear. I missed it this year, but think it would be a fun one to go to here.

Susan, I felt the same way about Steampunk until a few years ago as well. Tim Holtz has certainly put a nice twist on it too.

Monica, that looks so cool! I am excited to see it in real life. Now, I feel guilty that I have not started on your altered goodie. But, I finished my tags for the calendar swap I'm in and mailed them off today, so my next project is your gift. I'll be getting started tonight.

Susan, I LOVE it!!!! You couldn't have chosen a better gift for me!!!

Susan created me a lovely owl clock that she altered. It is fabulous! I can't wait to hang it in my craft room.

BTW, I was having such a bad day when it arrived. It really cheered me up!!! Thank you so much Susan.

Also, I will be getting yours in the mail in a few days. I have been dealing with family stuff and work and it really set me behind in my craft room. I do apologize. My DD really upset me a few days ago and I have had a hard time getting back into the swing of things. Funny, how your grown kids can do that!

Oh no! I will see if I have a pic still on my phone to post. I was afraid if I stuffed things in there it would be worse. I used glue dots to try to keep things in place, and the wings I knew would have to be repositioned as they wouldn't fit in the box otherwise.

Oh I am glad it arrived and is loved. No worries or hurries on mine, we still have plenty of time here and I am going to be unpacking for quite a while anyhow! Closed on the house on Friday and stuff will arrive this Thursday.

Take care and enjoy.

The clock was fun. I was walking around the store thinking owls, bright colors, craft room... and walked past that. I thought very cute but how could I alter it? Haven't ever done one like that, but why not try it just for the fun of it? I made it at Archivers and other ladies were oohing and aaahing over it so I decided it must be okay! So glad you like it! I hope you get a chuckle every time you look at it and it makes you smile.

Default I love my clock!

The picture is perfect! I can just put the two pieces back where they fell off . That awesome. I've been tired lately and taking care of my dad is a lot of work. I was only able to get on for a few minutes before I head back to the hospital.
