Well I'm excited about this swap! For the last 7 yrs, I was buying for a very large family -- married to someone with 4 kids, plus two of those married, plus 4 grandkids, and he had his mom and four siblings two with spouses and lots of kids/grandkids, etc., plus church needs.
This year I moved, took a new job in a new state cross-country, went through a divorce, and am here alone, still haven't found a church home yet really or had a chance to get involved in any organizations as I just got into my home and am buried in boxes and organizing/downsizing/sorting. Don't really know much of anyone so no friends or such here.
My family is mostly in CO and TX, and they went to just doing the secret santa names a couple of years ago and I think this year may go to picking a charity instead even. I will see them for the holidays, but other than my DD, DS, DDIL and DGS, and some friends I send to, I don't have to shop this year for Christmas right now! And even those ones I have mostly done. Its a strange feeling as I have had to do at least 20 more gifts plus all the entertaining for the last seven years.

Welcome to all the new faces (to me, that is)!

I promise I will be around more after Friday. Rosie leaves tomorrow night and it has been wonderful with her here. I will be sad to see her leave

As the Christmas/Holiday Season approaches, what song is it tht you just can't wait to hear?

I am looking forward to the Bing Crosby/David Bowie holiday song. I Just LOVE it!

Susan, wow! You are really experiencing changes this year! Don't worry! Soon you will be settled in, find a church and more opportunities for friends will come along.

Happy Thursday, Chicas!

Tonight, Rosie flies back to Montana. I am sad to see her go but so enjoyed her visit and the fun times and laughter we had. My dh told her last night she is welcome back at any time. Ditto that!

I would to be able to sing like Janice Joplin before the drugs. And to be a writer of sexy chic lit, not sure who I would choose to apprentice, maybe Lorissa Ione. Would make good use of my over active imagination that's for sure.

Awe Joan...it's always sad when family leaves--I am well overdue for a family reunion--I am one of 6 kids (parents have past), and my family is spread out all over the place; IL, OH, AZ, England and me in New England! We're all at different stages in our lives--3 of us paying for college tuition's so its difficult to drop everything and go spend money on travel/visiting. We keep talking about planning our next one--I guess I'll have to jump on it and get the ball rolling. God knows we have a lot of choices for a location. What I think we need to do is pick a year, start saving and do it!

My favorite Christmas song is Mama bake me johnny cake. It is a Carribean song that is played in the islands along with all the partying around Christmas time.

Favorite Christmas album is the Alvin and the Chipmunks singing Christmas song.

Dear Secret Elf,

I’ve been dreaming of a green Christmas just like the one I use to know where the palm tree sway and blue waves glistening. AAAhhh, well it’s time to wake up. So baring that here is my list of goodies I would like under my tree.

Bling (Never can have too much)
Flower Soft Mixed Colors –spring, vintage Christmas
Zig Memory System - 2 way glue squeeze and Roll
Refill for ATG Gun-permanent please-
Quick Dry Adhesive (Scotch)
Pearls
Mini Glue Dots (Permanent)
Cardstock 12 x 12 (Bazzill)
Tim Holtz Grunge paper
Prima Dolls stamps
Spellbinder D-lite Die Love locket

All through the year I have been nice and not naughty so if you can drop a word in Santa’s ear it is all right with me.

I had never heard that one, so I found it on Youtube. Catchy beat. I love the Caribbean music

I think my MOST favorite Christmas song is Oh Holy Night. There are so many versions of it and I turn the radio way up when ever I hear any of them. It is such a beautiful song.

I've been taking Elderberry supplements for a few weeks and have managed to stay cold free, inspite of a lot of sneezing and coughing going on all around me. I buy the caplets at my local health food store.

Thumbs up

Dear Secret Elf,

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas. Coming from Michigan to Ohio, I haven't seen the big snow that I am used to. Hubby and I have been good this year. A lot of changes. He went from no work to working 70+ hours a week. This has been hard, it limits our time together. I do all I can do to hold down the fort, but I'd love to see a happy medium.

I'm doing Weight Watchers, so the goodies that I request will be shared with Doug....he's got such a sweet tooth, and that makes me smile. He still maintains his boyish figure. HA

For Doug, I would like to request Dark Chocolate ANYTHING. He also loves black licorice.

We have a Keurig coffee maker, Pumpkin Spice or Macadamian Nut would be nice for the holidays.

We have three white boxers. With all of the food recalls, I have been making their treats. Any kind of doggie cookie cutters would be fun, or even a treat jar for them. They are so food driven.

For me personally, I have a great love for SOCKS! I wear a size 10 shoe, any kind of socks will do.

I had given up stamping for about five years. I'm out of the loop with minimal supplies, so here are some ideas of things I would like.

embossing folders , that do the edge or middle of cards.
ATG 700 adhesive (1/4 permanent)
bling or pearls
colorbox ink pads ( have seen them on Stamps of life, I do not have any)
glitter gel pens
Kraft paper with envelopes
glue dots
paper doilies
a cute snowman stamp

If you can think of some cool stuff , I'm sure I would like it if you like it. I am not picky, and I will appreciate whatever comes my way. I am looking forward to having fun with this. It will certainly get my creative juices flowing. Thanks for having me in your group!!
This time, US only please
Hugs,
Vicky~~

Happy Friday!

Anyone looking forward to the weekend? Have awesome plans?

What is one item you own that has virtually no monetary value but has such sentimental value that you would not sell if for $1000?

Hello fellow Elves,
Well, I've come up with my list, I hope you find it to be easy to use.

First though, a little background info about me... I'm a wife, (45 yrs) mother (3) grandmother (6) and a great grandmother (1). I was born and raised in rural Maine. My DH and I have been Christians for about 30 years. We both serve in our local church.
I've been a Creative Memories consultant for 15 years, just recently deactivated. I love paper crafts of all kinds.

I don't like anything ghosty, spooky, creepy, ect.

So on the first day of Secret Elffing.....
My SE gave to me, well maybe.....

1. Decorative Edge punch..... I have 1, it's lacy.
2. SU DSP...... This doesn't need to be full packs. I like the one with umbrellas, clouds, ect.
3. CTMH DSP .......... Partial pack is fine.
4. "C" plate for a Cuttlebug.
5. SU World Map Stamp, clear mount.
6. A water blending pen.
7. Die cuts cut from your personal stash of punches or sizzlext.
8. Stamped images on white CS.
9. Ribbon
10. Brads
11. Pearls
12. Gum, Sugar Free, please.

I'm behind on the questions, but the song I can't wait to hear 'cause my grandkids used to get a kick out of it and squeal and giggle when it played: "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer!" LOL

Who would I like to apprentice with...that's a tough one...my mind is blank so I'll go with the first person who comes to mind...Stephen King.

Something with no monetary value, but wouldn't sell for any amount of money....a picture of my family that I treasure more than anything; we became a kind of "Brady Bunch" family in 1986; we had my 3 girls and DH 2 sons; ages 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16!!

Hi everyone! Is it just me or does anyone else get a 'second wind' around this time of night? I should be sleepy but I'm wide awake, checking in and getting my stuff organized for a day of cardmaking tomorrow!

Questions -- I'm behind, too! Let's see:

Favorite holiday song -- The Little Drummer Boy. I remember my Gram singing this to me when I was little and my very first dog was named Drum Boy!

Apprentice with? Would've loved to work with and spend time with Mother Teresa...such an inspiration!

No monetary value, but wouldn't part with -- easy! The letters that I exchanged with my grandmother when we moved (I was 5.) She passed when I was 14 and I have every letter and card she ever sent me and treasure them. <3

Dear Secret Elf,

A little about myself: I am in my mid 50s, live in MN, have been married for 33 years, have 2 grown children, and work full time in a public library. I am very involved in my church and sing in the choir, have been in homemakers since 1984, on the county fair board, and an active member of Western MN Steam Threshers Reunion at Rollag, MN. I have 2 cats, Alex (my avatar) and Chloe, and we got a dog this summer, Kylie, who is a cross between a hound dog and German shepherd. I belong to a monthly Stampin' Up! card club and love it! I have a Cricut Expression and a Cuttlebug. On a sad note, my mom died on July 5 of this year. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of her. It’s been a tough summer.
Other than that, life is good.

new SU Stamp pads – not Pear Pizazz, Soft Sky, Chocolate Chip, Cherry Cobbler, Bermuda Bay, Island Indigo, Costal Cabana as I have these already. (I have lots of SU stamp pads, but would like to get the new kind because they stamp better.)
SU ribbons - 1/4” stitched, any color
sheets of 12” DSP, any kind, can be cut for ease of shipping
6 x 6 pad of DSP, any kind
Tim Holtz stains (I have Walnut Stain & Spiced Marmalade), really like Gathered Twigs, but any color is fine
Tim Holtz paints, have none so any color is fine
Dove or Bliss chocolates or other kind you think I might like
pearl brads
brown brads - any kind
rhinestones
prima flowers
something handmade by you!
anything else you think I might like
any lotion from Bath and Body
favorite colors: turquoise, purple, green, brown

Can’t have: coffee or tea with caffeine , chocolate is very welcome though!
Don't like/never use: eyelets, stickers, glitter, cutesy animal stamps where the animals are doing people things, stamps with girls with over sized heads

OK... one item that I could not part with would be my scrapbook that I made with all of my family memories. I am living far from home now and I love looking at it and remembering all the fun things from growing up and when all my nieces and nephews were little.

I like it here in Canada, but I can't wait to get back to the East Coast - New England.

My SIL and BIL met Mother Teresa--They were stationed in the Philippines when my BIL was a fighter pilot for the Navy...how cool is that?!

Just finished a 3 hour card class--my studio is spotless! (Love this feeling until I roll up my sleeves and get inky again)...It's like after you clean the kitchen/wash the floors you don't want anyone to eat in it for 2 weeks!!! hahahaha Super nice ladies--had a newbie and the first words uttered out of her mouth was; "This is like a candy store for crafters!" Awe...so sweet--and they all cleaned up--not a scrap of DP/CS on the floor!!! So sweet--so we decided the next class I will host is going to be a Christmas card marathon card making class! I have to throw in some easy ornaments just to get them to use my dies!!! Plus, I have enough glitter and MS beads to choke a horse--we have to use that stuff up!

Sunny and cool here in Boston--football on TV (WVU-my son's school), clean house, no laundry--what'a a gal to do? Have a great Saturday everyone!

JCI to say good morning to Joan and all you crafty peeps here!

Vicky, I'm so glad you have returned to the crafty world!

Susanne, how awesome that someone from your family met Mother Teresa!

Tracie, I'll be thinking of you on the dates of CKC and wish I could be in KC again to visit and shop; maybe 2014!!

Hope everyone has a fabulous Sunday!

Vickie - if you can believe it, I get 2 hours at CKC on Friday. We are then going on to a crop that weekend at the Lake of the Ozarks. We really should plan on 2014.

Hope everyone is doing well. Can't wait to get my ss name so I can shop.
