OMG! ladies. I think we all are getting into the holiday season and the letters are great. You ladies should come to Florida in my craft room. It is full and would be fun. My DH would have to be shipped out to a hotel room with the dogs. LOL Too much estrogen and he will go crazy. Have a good new week.

Misty - sorry to hear of your loss and surgery too. Glad you are recovering and that stamping therapy has helped. Prayers and hugs!
And a happy anniversary as well!

Dear Secret Elf

Hi there, my name is Deanna and I will be fifty in February. I work full time, study french after work full time and create to maintain my sanity. My new love is mixed medium cards and albums, I seem to have fallen in love with Tim Holtz products and have fallen out of love with Stampin up. I have one son that lives on the west side of Canada and I live about 4000 km from him and his three children. I have been married for four years to the man of my dreams, we have a lovely house in Ottawa, and travel often to the US (Ogdensburg, NY) so I would consider having partners from either Canada or the US.

For Christmas I would love any of the following:

Tim Holtz distress markers: Picked Raspberry, Ripe Persimmon, Squeezed Lemonade, Iced Spruce, Mowed Lawn, Evergreen Bough, Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers, Shaded Lilac, Seedless Preserves, Gathered Twigs, Rusty Hinge, Tea Dye.

Tim Holtz distress paints: Aged Mahogany, Antique Bronze, Brushed Corduroy, Bundled Sage, Crushed Olives, Dried Marigold, Dusty Concord, Evergreen Bough, Faded Jeans, Festive Berries, Gathered Twigs, Iced Spruce, Peacock Feathers, Pine Needles, Ripe Persimmon, Scattered Straw, Shabby Shutters, Shaded Lilac, Squeezed Lemonade, Stormy Sky, Tattered Rose, Tea Dye, Tumbled Glass, Victorian Velvet, Worn Lipstic, Pumice Stone.

Tim Holtz wooden blending tool, blending pads, blending foam, mini misters

Tim Holtz Tattered Poinsettias, Tattered Doily, Snowman die cuts in neutral card stock or white.

Impression Obsessions dies: little leaves, sea birds, heart stems
Memory Box dies: Holly Vines,

Kaisercraft stencils: 6 x 6 - Bricks, clock, wheat, bubbles and chevron
Clear Scraps stencils: 6 x 6 - numbers, brick, and ABC’s
I am open to home made stencils using your cutting tool, please just keep them small.

Ranger Inks Melt Art - Heat it Inks - Luxurious Gems
Tim Holtz detailer nib water brush
Dylusion Ink Sprays - Calypso Teal, Squeezed Orange, Bubblegum Pink, Funky Fuchsia, Dirty Martini, After Midnight, White Linen, Cherry Pie
Inkssentials - specialty stamping paper
Inkssentials - glossy card stock
Cold press water colour paper
Adirondack Alcohol Ink Cardstock

I have a Tassimo coffee maker and I love Creama, I enjoy chili chocolate - dark, and hot tamales. I love to cook and I love to try new exotic recipes. I do not bake, not even with a packaged mix just something about measuring. I do not need any embellishments or stamps of any kind, I love home made items including someone else's baking. I have tried to list everything on my wish list that I really want.

Dea

Smile Dear Secret Elf

Dear Secret Elf,

I have been a pretty good girl this year. I think I have adjusted pretty well to our new but temporary home in Winnipeg. I have really enjoyed making new friends here on SCS!! We tend to move around a lot because of my Hubby's job, so I have really enjoyed finding friends all over the US and Canada to keep in touch with by mail, phone and online. Packing things up isn't quite so much fun, so I have been trying to downsize - even in my craft room. I find that I really enjoy making embellishments and trying to do new techniques with different inks and paper. now I am gradually changing my scrap room to have more tools and inks etc to make things as I go. (I just got a new pegboard, so storage and access to my tools and supplies will be easier to manage.)

With this in mind Dear Secret Elf, here is my holiday list:

On the twelfth day of The Holidays my Secret Elf sent to me,

Twelve die cuts from your stash (in white CS is fine... so I can color to match my project)
Eleven fun stamped images (love different sentiments, House Mouse, Pure Innocence, etc in black Momento ink)
Ten Masks: cheverons, flowers, doily, Staggered brickwork (Dylusions), etc
Nine Ranger foam applicator refills
Eight sheets of fancy paper - metal sheets, vellum, watercolor paper, etc
Seven distress markers
Six gel glitter markers (love Sakura markers)
Five GOLDEN , beads (for making charms/ dangles)
Four interesting charms/blings/etc for flower centers. (I love making flowers)
Three Gelatos - (I have black/white and gold/silver)
Two TH distress ink pads (would love to have the new peacock and lemonade colors)
One pure innocence stamp set (I have a wish list folder on Pinterest with my favorites)

A few other likes:ferrero rocher chocolate, sweet n salty snacks, marshmallow and chocolate... YUM!! I love coffee and tea. Items made by you - maybe with instructions included so I can try it myself. I am not too picky, I will love anything from my Secret Elf!

Thank you Secret Elf for reading my letter.

Tammy

Dear Secret Elf....

For the Holidays, I would really love some time to relax and rejuvenate! I have had a busy summer taking care of my mom after her surgery and helping my dad through his cancer treatments. My Father-in-law and uncle passed away within weeks of each other and I was sick for about two weeks at the end of summer. The start of the school year has been crazy busy and one of my students has had a very rough transition back. I teach students with autism and one of our EAs didn't return as her daughter was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer over the summer. And one of students is having a very difficult time adjusting to the new EA. I have spent every afternoon making visuals, rearranging my classroom, and buying reinforcers in an effort to reduce her behaviours. I have not had any time to be crafty and really miss it! It's a great stress reliever for me, but I simply haven't had any time. So, I am counting on my Secret Elf to help me get back to crafting! I am running very low on cards and need to make more, especially birthday cards for all ages and genders. I would love card kits with samples or instructions to help me achieve this goal. I can't colour, so stamped and coloured images would be awesome! I would also love things to help me de-stress. Homemade hand and foot scrubs, incense or candles with light, natural fragrances and music to listen to while doing yoga. I love vanilla scented items, especially from Bath and Body Works, and could always use hand sanitizer and soap! I am trying to eat healthier, so please do not send me any sweets or junk food. Dark chocolate, black bean fudge, spiced or candied nuts are okay . I don't drink coffee, just fruity green teas and chai lattes! I love Teavana, especially the Superfruit Unity tea! I also love hot chocolate and hot apple cider in the winter. I also love to try new healthy recipes and hear about others' holiday traditions. I was in a lot swaps last year and received a ton of awesome crafting items, so don't need much in terms of supplies. However, I love Tim Holtz, Papertrey Ink and Graphic 45! My friend also started a steampunk challenge, so I need some steampunk embellies and would love the Graphic 45 Steampunk Spells 8x8 paper pad. I also don't need any brads, buttons, ribbon, or bling. I like neutral and soft colours, no brights or neons please!

On the twelfth day of The Holidays , my Secret Elf sent to me...

Twelve (12) sticks of incense and a holder,
Eleven (11) steampunk items ,
Ten (10) A2 Very Vanilla or clear envelopes ,
Nine (9) glassine or small paper bags ,
Eight ( 8 ) Chalk Studio items,
Seven (7) meditative songs,
Six (6) by six paper pad ,
Five (5) GOLDEN card kits,
Four (4) items related to your holiday traditions ,
Three (3) homemade scrubs ,
Two (2) Starbucks Chai lattes ,
And One (1) pair of yoga socks!

PS. I don't expect the quantities specified in the list; I was just trying to match to the song

Good evening. I would llike to be a secret elf if there is a chair unfilled. I'll have to do some thinking before scribbing my letter. Talk more later! Nikki

Keep those letters coming and if you have not indicated your preference for mailing, please let me know. US only, Canada only, or no preference.

If you won a contest in which your prize was to select any three gurests to appear on a popular late-night talk show, which three people would you choose?

I hope everyone has a good week-watched the news this morning and OH MY...our world could use some fairy dust glitter of goodness! Amen!

Chilly here in Boston--like I want to flip on the heat but it'll warm up later in the day--so maybe a hot shower and a cozy over-sized sweatshirt will do the trick! I have to design a autumn style card for my class this coming Saturday--my head is spinning with ideas--anyone have a cute card I can case?

That is one SERIOUS Road Trip given its 5 days apart for us!!!!

It has crossed my mind on more than one occasion how fun it would be to pack up an RV and just drive all over the US and Canada and craft with my SCS friends...

When do we find out who our SS is? I have been updating my list... it never even occurred to me to list non-crafting supplies until I've read some of the wonderful ideas you all have listed!

Susan--one of my favorite things to add to swap goodies are die cuts, stamped images and different doodads from my collection of supplies. Mind you, not a 1/2 roll of adhesive or anything like that...but we have done this in other swaps and you get to ck out some dies before you buy em!

Another cute idea someone did once was a "color pouch"--all things in one color--so a cello bag filled with RED; buttons, ribbon, twine, brads, eyelets, flowers, die cuts & the idea is it's all matchy-matchy...comes in handy out of the blue sometimes-especially red for Christmas and Valentines day! This can be from your personal stash and store bought...

You can list anything you want in your letter but all ...please remember ...

This is a 1:1 swap with a $25 minimum paper crafting spending limit. If you choose to spend more, that is fine, but not required. The $25 minimum does not include the cost to ship to your SECRET ELF or if you choose to order online shipping cost to you. The $25 minimum spending limit should be related to your SSs paper crafting interests. Other items you may want to include in their package (candy, candle, lotion, etc.) are above and beyond the $25.

I am looking to close applications to be a Secret Elf around October 7. The date is iffy as I am waiting on (hopefully) being able to close the ABC-123 SS Swap before assigning elves here.

When people find out what you do for a living, what is the most typical question that they are likely to ask you regarding your job?

Hi Joan!
I would love to join! I am at home suffering (and that is certainly true!) from a nasty cold for the 2nd day in a row. I read this yesterday and then again today and decided I could do this!
I will post my wish list later after I am well and have given it some thought.

lol........I love to read (have over 200 books in my personal collection) & people have always asked why I don't become a librarian or open my own library. My answer is that if I was always around books & that was all I did I would be afraid I wouldn't want to read as much anymore. lol

As a teacher, the first question I usually get is "what grade do you teach?" When I tell them that I teach with kids with autism, the second thing people always say to me is: "Wow! You must have a lot of patience!" I always reply, "it depends on the day!"

At 8:35 pm tonight, I discovered I am out of ink in my printer and have a boatload to print in my queue. So I hopped in the car, while driving, called to ck Staples closing time--got a PERSON on the phone and asked with a 'pretty-please with sugar on top' if they could pull Epson ink pink/black from the wall--I am on my way! They said yes...I got 5 -->FIVE green lights in a row and made it there at 8:59! Someone was on my side!

Joan's Question:
When people find out what you do for a living, what is the most typical question that they are likely to ask you regarding your job?

When I tell people I design sell greeting cards they say; Oh really? Can I order (1) from you? I say No... but I sell them in multiples of tens- and you can buy a variety of different styles/sentiments! I have also been involved in well-heeled craft fairs where they wanted cards "foe free"!!! One woman was trying to make a deal; "If I buy 5 can I have 5 free ones!" {These are 6x6 2-3 dimensional cards quilled/iris fold/top quality DP, velum envy with a cello envy etc...charms, doodads...the works} I wanted to say; may I come in your store and buy 5 things and get 5 things "foe free"?!!!

Joan's question...I worked in education as a grant administrator for 11 school corporations; people would ask if I know such and such students!! I had no contact with students in my job! I've been retired now for a year and LOVE it!

You don't? hahaha Just kiddin'! My hubby is a big library user guy--he practically never buys books--always going to the library--it's his "thing"...so we appreciate libraries and the people who work there!

He also cannot even think of the thought of reading a book electronically--he needs his books to open and use bookmarks--very particular about this!

There's a old/used bookstore in Salem, MA-get this...has books everywhere, piles and piles on the floor--good luck finding stuff but he loves to go there too--because of the mess!!! It would drive me batty-to each his own!

Don't tell your hubby that I have Kindle Fire. It will spoil the illusion. LOL I like going to used book stores but also Barnes and Noble. I buy non-fiction books but never fiction.

I think I'd better stick with US only mailing this time around. I'm a fed employee and with the budget issues right now, I may be furloughed if they can't figure out all this mess!

Yep! Got it! I edited my list to have a wide variety for any elf to choose from so as to keep costs down!
