Since I do not have a place of my own, I personally do not put up any decorations. Not to mention the people I live with do not want any of my decorations out anyway. I have a nice collection box for decorations I make or receive through out the year. WHen it gets full I will take it to my storage unit and start a new one. Usually, I would decorate sometime between Thanksgiving and the 1st of December.

Good morning! Our tree goes up and the house is decorated the Friday/Saturday/Sunday after Thanksgiving. Comes down and the house is de-decorated on New Year's Day!

We don't put presents under the tree until after the kiddos go to bed on Christmas Eve. Started this when they were little and still continue this tradition even though they are older now! It is such great sight to see their faces on Christmas morning!

Hey everyone.. almost good morning almost 12 here. Very long weekend and now the Christmas stuff begins. UGH... I'm becoming a scrooge as every year goes by...lol... it way to commercialized and too many expectations. I couldn't believe my mother told me " don't make me anything just get me a Pandora charm" So rude!

Good morning ladies! Just got home from my T.O.P.S. meeting! Not taking this weight loss thing very seriously - gained .2 of a pound this week.

It is a dark, dismal day here in MN! Not raining at the moment but ....

I have all my gifts bought and ideas on wrapping. I even have my box (it's not addressed, though).

We get around to picking up a real tree sometime mid-December--Keep it up until New Years Day (daughter was born on 1/1/91-New Years Baby!) so we keep the house decorated for her bday! Then, everything gets taken down!

I say it's just water weight! At this time of year, I will consider myself extremely lucky to just not GAIN a ton of weight. What does TOPS stand for?

Our tree goes up the day after Thanksgiving, then comes down Jan. 1st. Seriously considering not putting it up until later though. By the time the trees get here on the boat they're already not very fresh. By the time Christmas gets here the needles are dropping off the tree if you barely breathe on it. Torn though, because as expensive as trees are over here I want to get my money's worth and have it up as long as possible.

We put up our tree on December 1 or there abouts. We take it down about January 2.

Good morning!
We went out to eat with our best friends last night. My BFF is moving, well she has moved, but she is staying with her mom until she is done with her job. She will be done next week. She met this great guy and they bought a house together and are going to get married in June of 2014. She will be living 3 hours away from us. Right now she is in a town where we used to live until 4 years ago and that is 15 minutes away from us. So I thought we had better go out to eat one last time as a group. Besides her, our other two best friends always come out to eat with us too, so there was 5 of us. She will be coming back to visit as her mother still lives in the same town. But we will miss her!

Hi everyone, I thought I'd chime in cuz I don't really say too much. I'm more of a lurker then a chatterer these days. As for Christmas trees.. I put mine up the first or second week of November and take it down a week after New Year's day. I'm the only one who decorates so it's going up early and up for at least two months.

Good morning everyone, have a sweet day!

We put our tree up when the kids feel like decorating it, lol. We don't get to have a real tree, my DH is allergic to them. Being from Hawaii, I love the smell of Christmas trees. They are older now......15, 17 and 18. My husband usually puts his Christmas village up after Thanksgiving, but this year he will not have to bother as he still has it up in my hutch from last year, lol. I love penguins so I always put all my penguins out I always keep getting more every year....I never can get enough of them.

I like to get the Christmas tree down as soon as New Years is over. I must say now that the kids are older it is not as exciting.

I see you have a Christmas village Rosie, or I should say you have one at your house! I have one too and put it up either right before or right after Thanksgiving.

Last year I started a Santa Claus collection. I got inspired by BarbaraLynn's "Big Guy in the Red Suit Swap" which she has again this year.

Happy Wednesday Busy Elves!
Whatcha busy with this on the FAB Wednesday?

2CuteCats - 3 hours isn't that far away. What city is she moving to?
2busyscrappin - 2 months up for your Christmas tree? Is it a live one?
Pam - I would love to know what a Christmas tree costs in Hawaii! Just think what a wonderful Christmas it will be for Conrad!

We use to always put out a Christmas village. My Mom still has it and is more than willing to pass it my direction. I would love it ... but no one will see it here but Jason and myself. I am turning into Scrooge!

Holiday Question
Do you do any holiday decorating outside?

Joan, I admit I am looking forward to Christmas this year (and it's usually something I just want to get over with). Conrad will be turning 4 in December, and he said he has never had a birthday party. He keeps saying he will get two presents, one for his birthday and 1 for Christmas. I sure hope that's not true. How SAD. I'm determined to make his birthday and Christmas extra special. The kid drives me bonkers, but you gotta love him. Right when you want to throttle him he looks up and you and smiles with those huge, deep dimples ...!

I have a card request for anyone who might want to send a card. There is a sweet little lady in Indiana who is turning 104 this month. She is apparently still smart as a whip. Her family is hoping for cards all over the country. She loves bright, colorful cards, kitty cats, beach stuff ... Her info is:

Myrtle Ritchie
c/o: Swiss Villa
1023 W. Main St.
Vevay, IN 47043

Any cards would be greatly appreciated!

Outdoor lights on houses are my very favorite part of Christmas. Other than decorating the tree I never decorate inside the house. Decorating the tree usually involves arguments with DD. She actually told me she can't wait until she has her own house so she can put what she wants on the Christmas tree! LOL I like to put all the ornaments the kids have made each year (typical kiddy craft stuff). DD, on the other hand, has fits that it doesn't all match. She would have one of the "designer trees" you see in stores or fancy houses. I swear I don't know where that kid came from. I think she was switched at birth. LMBO

Evening, ladies!!! Just spending my evening catching up on my DVR and some lesson planning. Hubby is out with his friends tonight showing off our brand new 2014 Ford Escape! So fun having a brand new car!

As for outside decorations, I'm dissappointed to say we don't do much. I have a wreath, we decorate the fence with Garland and bows, and a little wooden snowman. I WISH hubby would put lights on the house but he is NOT a roof/ladder/heights guy. I remember when I was a kid my dad loved putting up the lights on the house. We had the big multi-colored lights and I loved them.

OMG! That is too funny! I think we MAY be related! I was the same way with my parents and I would actually rearrange the tree after everyone had decorated it! I have gotten over not having a designer tree, as my DH likes to use all of the eclectic ornaments we've inherited and received as gifts over the years, but I do still sneak in some rearranging! LOL!

Good morning everyone,

Since I'm in the military and live in the barracks I usually don't decorate the outside. I decorate inside my room which I do on Thanksgiving day after finish eating. I usually do the artificial tree since I don't like the fact that if you don't keep the live one watered they dried up on you. Tried the live tree one year with a friend unfortunately for the tree for the tree she decided to go for a week long cruise in the middle of the season and came back to a barely living tree. So I am staying with artificial.

I don't put up any Christmas village.

Nicole, DD rearranges our decorations too! Yep, she sure does sound like your "mini-me" . LOL

Dezre, I'm impressed that you can even move after eating Thanksgiving dinner, let alone decorate. Usually after eating on Thanksgiving all I have the energy to do is sprawl flat on the couch so the food has more room to distribute itself. haha

Vicky, sounds like you have all the essential "classics" for that Christmas feel when you walk in your house.

Kathleen, ME TOO! It's even worse than unpacking after a trip!

Sunny and warmish here in Boston today--

I gave my 10 yr old chocolate Lab "Muddy" a well needed bath--he's such a baby--had to NOT say the word "Bath", and gently invited him into the kid's bathroom (bathtub/shower combo) with a row of Ritz Crackers! Hmm, I wonder if he thought that is odd--Mom and K are inviting me into the bathroom to eat some crackers? And once he was in, we got to work! He's good once he's in there under our coaxing and baby talk about how good this will make him feel and we won't tease him that he smells like a gaaaabage can (Boston accent)...he was terrific. Then, the minute the water is shut off; he does this shake, shake shake--and both of us got wet, wet, wet! But, he's happy and sitting in his chair in the living room with sunshine pouring in! He should be dry and fluffy before he hops into bed with me and DH tonight!

Was able to get most of my shopping done for this while traveling last week! I mentioned it to my sister and the next thing I knew, she was shopping for it! haha... I had to slow her down or it might have been a lot more than 12 days!

I love to decorate, but have not really decorated the outside of the house... too much moving around to buy the appropriate decorations for each house.
When we get settled, I will for sure put lights and wreaths outside! I would LOVE to have a light-up snowman for the yard! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Snowmen!!

Started my Elf shopping today... now to figure out some fun packaging for what I bought!

Susanne - I love your dog bath story! reminds me of washing my babies Maisie and Conor (both Scottish Terriers) hate bath time. Lucky for me, they are small, so I just pick them up and put them into the tub. They are so funny when they get out... running all over and rubbing up against everything to get dry.
