Rachael I have used scissors to cut corners for sometime now and find them just as good and cheaper than buying expensive punches. I made up this little demo sheet to show you 10 different designs....

I too had a problem with white pens. In despiration I went to my favorite solution of using a cheap black erasable pen, from Staples, then enbossing it with either white or silver. Works every time....
