Try a small shim with the wax paper. Aluminum foil also is a good choice for the first few cuts.. but a shim and wax paper, usually do the trick.

Try to use goo be gone or even better yet, the stampers solution works great. Be sure to wash your hands with warm soapy water when you are done and apply a good moiisturiser. This worked for me...
