I use brads in the traditional way, but also - depending on the project I snip off nearly all of the "legs" using wire cutters (tuck the very top bits of legs under) and attach to my work using glue...

I buy Goo-Gone that comes in individual packets. It works great to get the sticky off scissors and other tools. I throw a couple of packets in my "portable craft room" so I always have them handy.
