I use plain old super glue. It only takes a little dab. I've never had any problems sharpening through it. I've also used to to glue a broken tip back into a problem pencil.

Mine are sorted by brand and then by color in Global pencils cases. I rely heavily on colored charts to decide what color I need and I don't worry much about mixing and matching brands.

Watercolor paper is very porous and would absorb up all your gamsol without much blending. What works great for water does not work great for Gamsol. Even smooth water color paper is too absorbant....
