Melissa, that is a fabulous book! And it WILL help! There are plastic templates in a little pocket in the back of the book that you can use to help with your shading. And it's not just for Copic...

If the stamp doesn't dictate the light source, I prefer using the upper left. I too have almost always done it this way, and now that I think about it, it's probably because I'm right-handed.
