Default DONE - ON THEIR WAY HOME - 12x12 LAYOUT KITS

I've been on hiatus from hosting while I moved but couldn't stay away!

Have you seen the great Project Life pages from Becky Higgins?
Becky Higgins - Products - What is Project Life?
What an easy way to get pages done quickly! By the way, the pocket pages are available at Hobby Lobby, Archivers, Michaels, online, etc.

I decided to host a swap for page kits for these books, however, these kits could also be used to create any 12x12 layout just as easily. The Becky Higgins pages have many preconfigured layout pockets, but the basic one generally has FOUR 4"x6" pockets and FOUR 3"x4" pockets.
NOTE: TRY TO LEAVE A LITTLE BORDER SPACE AROUND THE PIECES IN CASE SOMEONE HAS TO SLIGHTLY TRIM THEM TO FIT INTO THE POCKETS AS SOME HOLDERS ARE ABOUT 1/16" LESS THAN THE EXACT MEASUREMENTS.

Amazon.com: Photo Pocket Pages - Design A: Arts, Crafts & Sewing
These page kits would make one page layout using one of those pocket pages. You slide the pieces into the pockets, and then can journal, add photos trimmed down, etc. from there!

DETAILS:

DUE DATE: Due to me by September 10, 2013. Late ones will be returned unswapped. Mail early if you can, don't wait til the due date or week of it.

TO JOIN: Post in this thread and post your THEME for each spot.

QUANTITY: 3+1 Kits (The +1 is for the hostess). Bag each kit separately, labeled with your SCS ID.

EACH KIT must have a THEME (for the page) and must contain a TOTAL OF EIGHT BLOCKS:
- FOUR 4"x6" blocks. These must be at least two layers of quality cardstock/DSP. ONE of these must be a TITLE, having the theme/title for your pages. It can be die cut, stamped, etc. and embellished in some way. As for the remaining 3 of these -- it is your choice if you want to make these plain photo blocks or add photo corners, or embellish in whatever way, or if you want to make one a journaling block, etc.
- FOUR 3"x4" blocks. These must be at least two layers of quality cardstock/DSP. At least TWO of these must be embellished to serve as accents (i.e. flowers, butterflies, charms, brads, ribbons, buttons, die cuts, etc.) The other two can be journaling blocks, photo blocks, quotes, more accents, etc.
-- AT LEAST ONE BLOCK OUT OF THE TOTAL 8 PIECES MUST BE A JOURNALING BLOCK. Can be either size, and should be embellished in some way.

NOTES:

You DO NOT mail pocket pages. These are only for the items to get put into the pockets -- and that way you can use them however you like and mail in a smaller package too.

Pocket pages may be bought that go both directions, horizontal and vertical. However, please make your kits to layout one complete page of these --- so if the 4"x6" blocks are horizontal, the 3"x4" blocks are vertical in that kit. Reversed for the other. See the pages at the link above for clarification. The idea is that they then can be laid out to create a 12x12 layout or even two pages if you add the photos into them.
Also keep in mind these are little pockets so try not to make your pieces too bulky/3D as need to fit in the pocket still.

EXAMPLE OF A KIT: "THE GREAT OUTDOORS" theme, with a title 4"x6" that has that in die cut on it, and a stamped background of trees, brads in the corners. Three 4"x6" photo blocks with photo corners loose to put them, one journaling 3"x4" block with corner shaped brads, three accent 3"x4" blocks with wildlife stamps/embellishments.

MAILING: PM me for my address when you are ready to mail. For those who have swapped with me before, I moved this year across country so do not mail to my old WV address!
Each kit must be bagged separately. If you have more than one spot, be sure to bag them per spot too. Label all with your SCS ID. Enclose sufficient postage to get these returned to you (keep in mind some may weigh more coming back so include extra -- any extra will be returned to you). Be sure to include a SELF-ADDRESSED MAILING LABEL to return them to you. I will reuse packaging whenever possible.

Limit: 3 spots each

Who's in? Remember to post your THEME too:
(If there are ones you know you would not use, you can let me know and if I can accomodate requests, I will!)

Susan, so good to "see" you again!!! I'm subbing for now, cannot commit until I have a grasp on what it is! I've heard of Project Life, and that's about it! Hope you are doing well and settled in!

Hi Vickie!

The pieces could be used to create any 12x12 layout too, Vickie. The pocket pages that Becky Higgins Project Life kits have just basically have the pockets laid out for you already.

I changed the title to be 12x12 layout kits to help encourage swappers to see that these can be used not only for the Becky Higgins pocket pages from her Project Life kits, but also for any 12x12 layout really. Hope that helps to clarify for everyone. The components would layout into a 12x12 page when done, her pocket pages just have the pockets already laid out that way and you just slide the pieces into the pockets to make the page!

Susan, I am so glad you are back hosting again!!! You always come up with such fun ideas.

Yes, yes, yes. Please put me down for 1 spot for now. This is the excuse I needed to wade into Project Life. bwahahaha

QUICK QUESTION: Do we need to provide the pocket pages or just the "stuffing?"

Sign me up for two spots - one the theme will be beach and the other one fall. I have been doing PL now for about nine months. It is definitely a way to keep up to date on your scrap booking. This many cards could also be spread out to make two 12x12 layouts if you put pictures in some if the "slots" or add few generic cards with what you get in the swap.

Wow, learn something new every day. I never knew there were restrictions on mailing magnets. As many swaps as I've hosted and received, many with magnets, never had an issue, but I was going to host one for magnets then someone asked about the mailing restrictions. Didn't know until I looked it up.

Just wanted to share that with others too. Apparently there are strict limitations about mailing anything magnetized. Had to cancel my magnetic personality swap.

JUST THE STUFFING. No pocket pages mailed... everyone can get their own or they may choose to use the pieces to create pages in their other scrapbooks too.

Good to be back. Seems like there are so few swaps anymore, I couldn't stand it!

KARI: What theme?

PIA: I know what you mean. My crafting stuff is all in storage except for one small case I brought with basics. Its driving me batty so I had to join a few things and there are so few swaps it seems anymore, I just decided to go ahead and host.

GOOD NEWS: They break ground on my house today.

Hohoho...
So my craft room is in storage til our house is built here (August) with the exception of what I brought in a tote in the car. But you know I have actually picked up 5 sets of stamps at yard sales. I didn't bring my markers or my ink pads other than black and brown though, so I'm winging it here. There are some craft stores though and I plan on checking out an LSS I found online here this week.

Hope you are all having fun summers. Be sure to spread the word on this swap too please. Looks like swapping has really dropped here on SCS, can't let that happen!

I never heard of this before (or maybe I just didn't really pay attention if I did) but since you started this swap I've been seeing this project life stuff all over the internet. I was just on my Silhouette site looking at what they had for cutting files and they have a ton of them for 3x4 & 4x6 project life cards. I found a ton of travel & Christmas themed ones.
I'm not sure if I would ever use these though. Still thinking about it......

Hi Beth --
I don't have the pocket pages yet but am going to go check them out this weekend hopefully. My plan is to try to incorporate them into my other scrapbooks if the holes line up to put in those, otherwise I'll just get another binder for them and create a new one. They have all sorts of layouts, so you can change them up.
Let me know if you decide you want to join. You know we'd love to have you!

I went to an LSS here last night. Got in trouble. Well, dented my budget to say the least.

Found the new Prima Paper Doll stamps. They are SOOOOOO cute. So I bought a couple and the supplies to try to make something with them too.

If you haven't seen them -- Quickutz Club

For right now, I'm limiting to two spots until we have at least 16 participants due to past experiences when others drop or such.
Let me know which two spots she would like to do.
Also -- Does she not have an SCS account then? Check to be sure but I thought the swapping rules required participants now to be registered members and post themselves to the threads that they were participating. I don't want to break any SCS rules.

Thanks!

You won't get any of your own back in my swaps. Since its a 3+1 that means you send in 4 sets, the hostess (me) gets to keep one for hosting, and you would get back 3 different sets total. That is pretty much the basic swap set up on SCS, though some vary.

Right now I'm limiting to two spots per person until we have at least 16 participants, then would allow a third spot, and a fourth spot only after 24. This helps to prevent duplicates or getting your own back as a result of others dropping out or flaking (not sending). I try to always make extras/different sets also for my own spots that I participate in to ensure others don't receive their own back or duplicates (unless they request them). I don't think you have been in my swaps before, but the others on here could vouch for me otherwise if you like... I've been hosting on here several years (between hosting and swapping, have done over 500 now). If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Hope you'll join us!

I bought 10 more SU stamp sets this weekend at yard sales! But I know I'll have fun with them making these too.

EVERYONE: I made a small change/edit to the requirements as I realized there were two journaling blocks required, which I did not intend. Its okay if you have two in your kits so if you have already made them that way, its fine, but here is how I changed it to hopefully clarify that as long as one out of the total 8 blocks in each kit has space for journaling:

Susan, I have been out of the loop with swaps, I am sending everthing needed to do a 12x12 layout. Right? Any links to finished pieces?

Total of 4 kits (that is the 3+1). EACH kit has 8 blocks -- 4 are the 4"x6" size and 4 are the 3"x4" size --- details in the first post on how many embellished, one has to be for journaling, al must be two layers.

I'll see if I can find some pages that were done in that style but the actual kits are printed cards so not quite the same.

Found a few completed pages others have made to hopefully give you inspiration. Keep in mind the requirements in the first post above though when making your kits. Many of these have just put the pics in a pocket or used one of the preprinted cards in slots... I'm challenging your awesome creativity to take it to the next crafting level or making each of those blocks creatively! Thanks!

If I get a chance this weekend I'll try to put a couple kits together too and post pics!

My mom said thanks any way , but this is the way she has been doing it for years and it worked for her. She dose not want to become a member. She dose not like computers. So even if she did I still would be doing this part for her. have a nice day

Thanks for the clarification, Susan. I'll take one spot for now, Garden theme (things you might find in a garden).

Hi Vickie! Sounds great, will add you now. You know me, I love gardening! Even in our little apartment right now while our house is building, I put herbs and flowers in deck planters and flower boxes!

JCI. I hauled out my Christmas stuff last night. I keep all my Christmas themed supplies - stamps, ribbons, papers, etc. - together so it's easy to find whatever I want. Now, what to use?????

Oh my goodness, ladies. These pages with the pockets are addicting because you can complete a page so quickly. Really... you can just put the 4x6 pics in some pockets, and then fill the others with what you like, i.e. make a journal box, stamped images, chipboard lettering or items, accents, etc... they are QUICK to make this way. I know it shouldn't be more more to make the 12x12 page, but I spend a long time creating a 12x12 to the way I want normally... I like the details, coordinating, etc... but I can only get a couple pages done a day that way it seems. With these pockets, I feel like I can whip out a lot more in the same time. Crazy. Now I see why they are so popular!
