With this dps, I'm 4 over my October goal and only 10 pages away from my YEARLY goal! Yippee!
I scraplifted Diane's page for the "Follow the Leader" challenge (DGSC084) and used orange on my pages for Hannah's "Orange" challenge (DGSC086). Taronga Zoo-Sydney, Australia
Hi ladies. I've been MIA the last week and a half because life got busy. I'm designing a card workshop for this Friday, and then I get to scrapbook all day Saturday, so hopefully I will have some fun stuff to put in the gallery soon! In the meantime, does anyone have a good embossing machine they can recommend? I was considering the Cuttlebug, but I already have a Wishblade and a Cricut so I don't need the die-cutting feature. I just want to do embossing on cards. Any suggestions or thoughts?

I've owned the Cuttlebug for years and like it for embossing. I don't own any other tools like the Wishblade or Cricut. I don't know what else is out there that embosses. I'd be interested in reading the feedback on this myself. One thing to keep in mind is the embossing folders for almost every machine are about 4 x 5.25", so you can't make full-sized borders for a 12x12 page unless you emboss more than one piece and place something over the spots where your pieces meet. Since you mostly want it for cards, though, that shouldn't be a problem.
Here's another page I did for Terri's template challenge. I had to give equal time to my son's other kitty, Justice, since my progressive page for October was a Halloween page about their black cat, Phoebe!
I really wanted to scrapbook tonight but the mojo just wasn't there. I'm pretty excited that I am so close to making it to my yearly goal!!
I know what you mean, I was a vegatable last night & I'm so close to hitting my October goal. I do have to say I think I've done as many pages since I joined this group in Sept as I've done since I started this hobby! It's really be an inspiration!
I had so much fun at my 3 day scrappin get away! Didn't get much scrapping done but, I had a lot of fun with friends I dont see often. Here is what I accomplished, 10.5 scrap pages, 22 birthday cards (for church), 2 pastor app. cards, 2 gift card holders, 6 Christmas cards, 3 treat boxes and I must have gained 20 lbs from all the goodies that were there. Love these get-away weekends can't wait until March for the next one!

And you say you didn't get much done????????????? Wow! It sounds like you had a wonderful time--fun, fun, fun! Getting together with friends is great, isn't it? Good for the soul!

Glad to hear you've been motivated by our little group. That's why I'm still here after almost four years!
I am packing up for a 4 day crop starting later this afternoon. Just checking challenges and making notes to have with me. Wish me luck as I have not gotten one page done yet this month. WHY did I say I would do 25???? Crazy busy time of year!
I am hoping for a little time to check out the gallery soon and do some catching up!!!
Waving HI as I pass through...........

I ditto Wendy and Patti! It's a GREAT place to be inspired. Unfortunately I've only gotten 4 pages done this month so far. It appears I'll have some time this weekend and I'm very much looking forward to it.

Cheryl, I have a Big Shot DH got me for Christmas a few years ago. I really dislike how much room it takes up but it's fantastic for card front embossing! I use it often. I do have a Cricut (also a present from DH, LOL!) so I think both of these tools are useful as I tend to do most of the cutting on the cricut but do have a few dies for when needed ...

That's great Lou Ann! I've had the same experience with this group - very much a big inspiration to keep working on my albums! I've also learned to undo some of my big stumbling blocks - like NEEDING to have everything chronological. That was a big obstacle to overcome!

We are glad you are here!
Thanks!!
I have to say I'm not having a problem not doing things in chronological order but I am having a problem putting pages in my albums. I guess I'll have to put them in and then move them around later on. Unless someone has another system???

Hi! I am back. As soon, as I get unpacked and wash done, I plan on trying to catch up on the chat threads and commenting in the gallery. Don't know how, though, now as I am behind on doing decorations for our ladies Ministry Christmas Tea, and dr appointments, and everything else. But will try to check back in. Am antsy to begin scrapping my trip photos as I already printed 70 of them! Oh my goodness!
love and miss you all

You have been sorely missed, Sharon! It's just not the same around here without you! So glad you had fun and are itching to get some scrappin' done! Where did you go this time?

Hi Wendy! The first two weeks I was in Georgia babysitting grandkids, and the last two weeks we have been on a Canadian Cruise. (my birthday cruise! Sunday is my birthday.) We went to NYC, where we visited our son and then boarded the ship. We then went to these ports: Newport, RI, Boston, Bar Harbour Main, St John, New Brunswick, Halifax, and Sydney Nova Scotia, Charottetown, Prince Edward Island, and Quebec City.
They had a late fall, so we were able see lots of beautiful fall colors. We saw lots of historical points of interest ,and gorgeous scenery. The cruise was ten days, and we had 8 ports! Quebec City was amazing! We had a whole day and night there, before flying out of there.
It is my new favorite cruise, although, Hawaii is still right up there!
Anyway, lots to scrap!
Sharon

OK...I just posted layout #3! I'll probably work on my last 2 pages Monday night.
We're expecting bad weather & we'll be helping my DH's brother & his family move out some of their things tomorrow just in case of flooding. They were flooded very bad last year in September & it's only been a short time since they've got their house back in shape. We're praying it doesn't happen again. Our area was hit very hard and some haven't recovered yet.

Best Wishes...I know we have been battening down the hatches as well here in the Lancaster area. I thought it wasn't going to start raining until tonight but it's already started Poor little Rufus. I think I'll put newspaper down in the garage for him to go potty tomorrow since I don't want him to "blow" away

As far as I can figure out, all styles of embossing/cutting machine do well for embossing. The only only thing you need to decide is how much you want to spend and how wide of embossing folders you will be using. They come in 5x7 (embossing folder). Most if not all machines allow you to cut/embossing long strips, all you need to do is purchase one of the long plates for the machine.
I cut a slot in the top fold of the folder then slide the 12 inch strip through and re embossed for a 12x12 page. I'll make a note on my scrap page when I get time to photo and post. Just be sure you don't cut too close to the edges of the folder.
The Big Shot I have was given to me as a gift but I think you can usually get them from one of the big box stores with a coupon. They are a little pricey but last and last and last. They do take up counter space and some are heavy but it works like a dream. Plus I like the fact you can use thin folders, dies, or the thick dies. Now if you are only interested in embossing, I think the Cuttle Bug would work well for you. It is much lighter weight, not as big or heavy.

Hi Sharon,
I saw your note a few days ago as I was headed out to a 4 day crop. I left early and came home late to work a short time just to unwind so I could sleep.
Nice to see your face here again....... You were missed too!!

... Wow, it's been raining here for the last 2 days and the wind is really picking up. Looks like we're in for part of the "Franken-storm" to hit here. We have lots of Flood Warnings because of all the rain and the Wind is supposed to get gusty .... Wish I could just stay home tomorrow and hide inside like I did today.

Good Morning. I've written down 2 of the prog digi challenges I've missed in prep of scrapping without electric Winds are starting to pick up here and the rain is coming down harder. TV stations are listing all the red cross shelters for those that have to evacuate because of localized flooding and I've got DGS watching TV so that he can get his fill now before we possibly lose power. Made cookies yesterday and froze lots of containers of water so I've got ice to keep freezer foods cold longer. We were in basement this a.m. moving all the boxes up onto the plastic bins just in case the basement floods with the electric off and the sump pump not able to run. I sure hope though that things won't be as bad as predicted. One good thing that came out of being laid off is that I don't have to go to work in this storm especially since DGS's school was canceled for today and tomorrow. Small blessings really count

The indignities poor Rufus has to suffer but it is cute and he's sitting so good for DGS!
This is ssoooo cute! That's why they call them man's best friend...a cat would never stand for it...LOL!!
Stay safe & dry. It's starting to rain & blow up here in NEPA. It sounds like the wind will be worse than the rain and the governor said Southern PA is already without power.
