And I am not as good as my DD in designing them. Most of mine are pretty much straight photos, while hers look more like a scrapbook. I am not good at moving stuff around and putting on embellishments electronically! I just can't figure the thing out. All that to say, I think more people are doing it digitally!
Happy Wednesday Sharon. I also looked at digital scrapping a few years ago but at that time I was still working and spent enough time on a pc. I also had so much stash that I needed to keep using it. Now my craft room is bursting at the seams and since I have taken up card making I've now acquired so many stamps and dies and try and use them on my LOs and in my journal.
I love the feel of the papers, embellishments and the finished LO. Looking at it on a pc or printing in a digital book (which my daughter-in-law does) just didn't appeal, although I know a lot of people prefer it.
Today I went and had some photos printed and can't wait to do some LO's. I went to the local scrapbook store for chipboard cutouts or chipboard I could use with my dies on my Big Shot, but the lady told me that chipboard cutouts are out now and her range is all moving towards mixed media. Interesting as I've just started practicing different techniques in my journal and am enjoying this medium.
I have an album which my great-grandmother started and its got funeral ribbons and other memorabilia in it. I treasure it and it reminds me of how long scrapbooking has been going.
I'm a chit chatter...LOL....happy day and week.

Hi Sharon

Your shadow boxes are just beautiful. Love, love, love them. TFS

I've also had a few craft hobbies such as knitting and crocheting but my real love is for creating memories. I love journalling and flicking through an album that has taken time to create and feel the textures, something that you can't do with digital. Long live scrapbooking Happy day

Hey y'all! Crawling out from under my rock to check in. I've actually been scrapping a fair amount--more than I thought I would with the wee lad to take care of--I just haven't taken pictures of the layouts yet, much less uploaded them.

Anyone ever get stuck on a scrapbook layout sketch and use it over and over? I've had one sketch that's been my favorite for a long time--like, I've used it at least a half a dozen times but since I skip around a lot when I scrap none of those layouts are anywhere near each other. But this week I used a particular sketch for one layout and then used it for two more immediately after. Makes the planning process go faster, at any rate!

Hope y'all are having some good scrappy time this weekend. Or else taking lots of Easter pictures to scrap later

I have been wanting to try that one too. I have the embossing folder in front of me to choose from, I just need a stamp to use. I pulled out the paper yesterday but have not cut my panel yet. Soon!

Hi Christy, look forward to seeing your LO's. I've just started to use sketches. I'm finding it so much easier. My problem is I like to have all my LO's looking different but I now realise that I can still make this happen using the same sketch. Happy Easter

I've been scrapbooking for a really long time--like, about 20 years? When I started, I didn't even have a paper trimmer so I cut *everything* with a pair of scissors. But anyway, I have an entire binder full of sketches, mostly the ones that Becky Higgins did for the Creating Keepsakes magazine for years. I love sketches because they give me a place to start on the layout, and I don't have to follow the sketch exactly if it doesn't quite work--a lot of times the sketch works more like a springboard for me. But yes definitely check out some sketches!

So true Christy! I too love sketches for starting. That is the same reason I love doing scrap-lifts, they are a place to start. Sketches are flexible in that you can look for one after you have selected your photos or use the sketch to find the right size and orientation.

I have to totally agree with you ladies on sketches, I often start with a sketch in mind or one I saw, sometimes I follows it closely sometimes it is just inspiration that takes a wild turn as I work.

Well, today is a good example of why goals help. I realized it was the 17th and I have had a full month already with NO scrapbooking time because I chose to use my only free days on VSN earlier this month. So, I had today to play catch up if I want to meet my goal again. Started with four of the VSBN challenges, moved onto the scrap lift, and then threw in some extra pages to boot. So I went from 0 to 10 in a day to make myself now half way to my goal for the month. Helps that I had the day off with no agenda and lots of leftovers!!!

Okay, got a minute to upload a few pictures of the layouts I've been working on. I mentioned before that I used the same sketch three times in a row, so here's those three layouts:

Christmas Eve 2014

Caerphilly Castle

Ming Tombs

And if you're curious, here's the sketch I used for all three Anyone else remember the column in the old Creating Keepsakes magazine that was One Sketch, Three Ways?

Hi Christy, yes I still have a heap of Creating Keepsakes magazines and refer to them now and again. I also have my old scrapbooking books including one of Becky Higgins.
Your LO's are lovely and all look so different even though you used the same sketch. TFS Happy day

Now that you mention having some of those old magazines still around Jayne, I will need to check my bin to see if I saved any. I threw away so many of those books several years ago, can't remember if I saved even one!!! It would be kind of fun to revisit the sketches!!

Hi ladies. Just popping in to say hi, and now I am off to London for two weeks with my hubby! Didn't get much scrapping done in April with a birthday party to plan, plus Easter and getting ready for our trip, but I hope to be back strong in May. See you all soon.

Have a wonderful time. I'm originally from the UK and still have family there. So much to see and do and such a wonderful time to be there....Spring. Enjoy and keep safe. Jx

Happy Saturday everyone...beautiful day here in Western Australia...27 degrees. We started our day walking the beach path, something I've not done for a while and we only live 500 metres from the beach. Time to get fit!
Photos are spread out on the table and I'm ready to scrap today and next week. I've found some LO's in an old scrapbooking book and will make it easier for myself and either use LO's out of this or sketches. Hopefully I will get some LO's finished and posted.
Enjoy your weekend everyone. jx

Sharon, Jayne, you might be interested in this week's Mixability Challenge to use fabric on our project. I am thinking of a scrap page with fabric, and then of course at least two mediums. Jayne that reminds me of the last pages you did! So, let me know if you are going to do that.n I have some SU, fabric layed out. Maybe a heritage page for me? I will see.
