Forest Ranger 11-27-2012 05:31 AM

Sounds YUMMY! I'd like two spots please!

lindac007 11-27-2012 07:16 AM

Welcome ladies you both have 2 spots and SPECIAL surprize treats! I love to make special Valentine treats and plan a special supper and it just dawn on me my recipes are packed in box somewhere (time for new) BUT I found them this morning!!!! yea.

so my recipes (as I'm creating also are from a small handmade booklet I received at least 10 yrs ago from attending a Valentines Chocolate festival. oh the memories :) I'm still working on losing those pounds (lol) the event was a 2 day event in Glendale Az and the vendors including reps from "chocolate companies" anyway they made treats for us to sample, did workshops on working with "chocolate" and its health and nutrional values!

thats right it really does have value! American Heart association even agree's. We learnt about the history of chocolates and remember "SEE"S" candies? they handed out samples also several smaller candy companies. They only had event that one year but it was well worth it. we did a thing where each vendor booth or each workshop leader had receipe cards and as you visited them you got a recipe and a booklet stamped with a sweet saying, so I'm using those recipes for us!

I treasure my book and hopefully we will create a version of it together for each of us!!!! you can NEVER have to much chocolate on hand :) and right after Valentines we can use them to make homemade EASTER chocolates (yea) so my recipes will all be "candy" but swap is open to any chocolate items!!!!! Has anyone ever heard of a chocolate Main dish? lol

Forest Ranger 11-27-2012 01:04 PM

Linda, that sounds like a fabulous book. No wonder you treasure it and the yummy memories!

lindac007 11-27-2012 03:37 PM

ya Jeanette tis a wonderful time :) well I got a bunch of emails apparently there are main dishes created with chocolate! someone told me there is something called moe sauce??? for chicken or pork that has chocolate and is very tasty. interesting?

I was wondering what's strangest chocolate thing you've ever eat? Please no bug stories !!!!! I don't do chocolate covered bugs of any kind! that's nuts.

Forest Ranger 11-27-2012 03:45 PM

I do NOT like moe sauce for meat.... NASTY!!! My DD eats it so one time when I was visiting her and we went out for Mexican food, I tried it. Nope! Not for me!!!

2CuteCats 11-27-2012 05:35 PM

A Veterinarian was feeling ill and went to see her doctor. The doctor asked her all the usual questions: what were the symptoms, how long had they been occurring, etc. Suddenly, she interrupted him: "Hey look, I'm a vet - I don't need to ask my patients these kind of questions: I can tell what's wrong just by looking." She smugly added, "Why can't you?"

The doctor nodded, stood back, looked her up and down, quickly wrote out a prescription, handed it to her and said, "There you are. Of course, if that doesn't work, we'll have to have you put to sleep."

Part of my job as a 911 dispatcher is to interrogate callers who are in various states of panic so I can send the appropriate emergency equipment. One day a woman called to say that a family member had fallen and needed to go to a hospital.

After finding out where she lived and assuring her that the paramedics would arrive shortly, I asked her, "Do you know what caused the fall?"

"No," the woman nervously replied. "What?"

A young businessman had just started his own firm. He had just rented a beautiful office and had it furnished with antiques. Sitting there, he saw a man come into the outer office. Finally he hung up and asked the visitor, "Can I help you?"

"Yeah, I've come to activate your phone lines."

Busy with catching up on other swaps and working tons. I didn't see that you added me to your list; but if there are enough people, I would like to increase to two spots. Mole sauce is an acquired taste - not sweet though as you would think. I've tried it a few times, not my cup of tea. I have two recipes that I would like to share with the group.....I am leary of people who don't like chocolate, I often ask them....how can we be friends??? lol

lindac007 12-05-2012 03:25 PM

My dear CherryLime, I sure didn't mean to miss you. so sorry. of course I'll add you for 2 spots I've seen your work also you are pretty darn good!!!! lol I know what you mean how can one go through life and not llike chocolate? it's just not natural, you know? lol enjoy and have fun with the recipes great time of year to try them and of course what a special Valentines treat (homemade chocolate)

Jeanette's reaction to the mole sauce turned me off, I'm picky and if someone has that strong a reaction, I tend to get leary of the item. have 2nd thoughts about trying it. on other hand I love a great recommendation!

TUESDAY:
Notice: We regret having erred In R. D. Jones' ad yesterday. It should have read "One sewing machine for sale cheap. Phone 948-0707 and ask for Mrs. Kelly, who lives with him after 7 P.M."

WEDNESDAY:
Notice: R. D. Jones has informed us that he has received several annoying telephone calls because of the error we made in the classified ad yesterday. THURSDAY:
Notice: I, R. D. Jones, have no sewing machine for sale. I intentionally broke it. Don't call 948-0707 as I have had the phone disconnected. I have not been carrying on with Mrs. Kelly. Until yesterday she was my housekeeper, but she has now quit.

Oh, Linda... I'm sorry! I didn't mean to turn you off before you even tried it. I'm all for trying things - well, not weird meat, but other things. But when I find I don't like something, I don't eat it again unless I'm in a situation where I have to - like on a mission trip. I eat WHATEVER I am served when on a mission trip. ;)

You might very well like the mole sauce... remember, my DD loves it. Be brave... go for it!

lindac007 12-06-2012 11:40 AM

I have never laughed so hard in long time as that joke Jeanette posted today about the sewing machine!!!!! that is so funny! I love it.

I also have never had a day like today!! I have to share a wonderful person here in SCS and previously in one of my swaps, sent me a box of cards and card tops completed from swaps over the years which she never found use for. I cannot tell you how speechless I was it was totally a surprize and un-expected. after going through theem I went and got my angel neighbor (she's like a grand mother to me) and we spent several hours looking touching feeling and examing beautiful card tops and cards sent by this person. I'm not identifing her so as not to embaress her if she didn't want that wonderful deed known to others!!!!

we are now in process of matching cardstock or paper to the card tops to complete a card (actually its my neighbor doing that) she's so excited and we will end up using every card in probally next 6 months since she gives cards to everyone in community :) and I have seen some wonderful tecniques I never seen up close before. I am also making a journal of the way the card looks and how it looks like some things were done!

What a wonderful thoughtful gift from someone who doesn't even know us very well. Truly a generous heart :) she is cleaning her craft room and some of those swaps were dated back to 2001 God bless her I hope she gets that craft room clean!!!!

then to complete the day a friend brought over a 3 layer chocolate chip homemade cake with a milk chocolate frosting also homemade!!!! I'm in heaven tonight :) it just dawned on me I forgot to tell neighbor we were so wrapped up in the paper I forgot the cake!!!!!!! oh well, quess i'll have to eat 2 peices :) lol

I hope your day is going as well as this has for me!

A Texan farmer goes to Australia for a vacation. There he meets an Aussie farmer and gets talking. The Aussie shows off his big wheat field and the Texan says, "Oh! We have wheat fields that are at least twice as large".

Then they walk around the ranch a little, and the Aussie shows off his herd of cattle. The Texan immediately says, " We have longhorns that are at least twice as large as your cows".

The conversation has, meanwhile, almost died when the Texan sees a group of kangaroos hopping through the field. He asks, "And what are those"?

The Aussie replies with an incredulous look, "Don't you have any grasshoppers in Texas"?

Good Morning Linda and all my fellow swappers!

Barb, thank you for coming to the threads and letting people know I was alive during my absence. I appreciate you so much!!!

Thank you for your sweet words, Linda. We're still dealing with a lot right now, but we're hanging in there and hopefully I won't be so MIA in the future. I've missed all of the fun I normally have on SCS. ;)

lindac007 12-12-2012 03:23 PM

Hay!!!!! Jeanette is back! Hope things will be all better by Christmas. missed you very much I had no idea what to celebrate????? lol, I'm hooked on those posts thats what I also clicked into the forest link to see! I can't believe they have left anything out (lol)
welcome back take care of yourself.

I was glad Barb checked in and let us know you were alive. I was fearing I may need to order flowers? by way what is your favorite flower?

Forest Ranger 12-12-2012 05:32 PM

awwww... thanks, Linda! It's so nice to be missed. Things are still a bit overwhelming here, but I'm going to try not to go missing again. And I'll start the Public Service Announcements again ASAP.

My favorite flower is one we grow in pots in the summer time - Rose Moss. It is so soft, delicate and colorful. Love it! What's your favorite flower? And what is your favorite way to eat chocolate? (I'm kind of partial to fudge - yum! and I love the Cherry Mash candy bars when I can find them - they are coated with chocolate.)

lindac007 12-12-2012 06:32 PM

I know Rose Moss that's a old flower one you don't see or hear of often. great choice. I'm an old gardner I love them all but my favorite is lilac's in spring. there are only with us a very short time once a year but they give it their all in fragrance! but like I say love them all. I truly believe you MUST make time in life to smell the flowers or you've missed it all. My favorite chocolate is chocolate covered cherries!

I use to get them every Christmas from my grand mother, she passed away and my dad picked up her place until he passed away. ocassionly my grown children will think of it but not often. they were part of my Christmas from as far back as I can remember and when both passed away and the chocolate covered cherries stopped appearing under my tree it was so missed! I associate Christmas with that candy. so now I buy a box each year for me (sounds silly but sometimes I still wrap it and put it under the tree) brings back wonderful memories of times past.

they say we can smell certain smells and it brings memories alive to us and I believe that because the cherries do that for me. Folks I promise you I'm not nuts!!!!! just learned to appreciate the past and memories. You just never know when its a little thing that will mean so much. I am glad you are back but please don't push yourself just go slow :) we are all here for you. your health is important.
