I have a couple in my wish list on Amazon.com. My kids give me gift certificates from there, and I seldom have actually paid for much. I got the "elegant edges" that way.
Maybe mother's day..... I don't need more. The lady that gave me the cricut gave me 8 cartridges and I have only bought one. But I NEED that kitchen one.

Did I tell you all that I am learning to quilt? Yep, it's true. Something I never thought I would do. I bought a charm pack first and today finally got to go to Joann's and bought an off white fabric for the inner border and a green fabric for the outer border and binding. BTW I am making a baby quilt. I watched videos on You Tube by Jenny at the Missouri Star Quilt Co.
Gotta go eat supper!

Yes ma'am. I couldn't believe it. One of my friends is downsizing. She lives alone, no kids, nobody in her family is crafty but her. She is in our craft group at church and we have lots of fun together. She came to me after the first of the year, and said she is getting rid of a lot of her things, and has chosen family members to get certain things. She is passing along things that she never or seldom used, and the cricut was one thing she had gotten all the use out of that she wanted to. She is not able to do as much as she once was. She said if she died with all that stuff in the house her cousin would be the one to take care of things, and not knowing any more than she does, she would sell the cricut in a yard sale or give it to a thrift shop or something. She said she knew I would love it and use it and she would be honored for me to take it and have fun with it and she would know it would be appreciated.
So I said "Heck yeah!" It is an older one, just uses the 6 x12 cardstock which is fine with me. There were 3 cutting mats, all the tools and extra blades or whatever, and 8 cartridges. I have GOOD friends.

Hey Roxane, I am still waiting on my kitchen Cricut cartridge. It is a good thing I went ahead and finished them. I have them ready to mail, but have ordered stamps and will send them as soon as the stamps get here. I like to use the $1.00 stamps, and the crabby lady at our local post office said they don't keep there. She said they didn't have them because nobody ever uses them. So I order 20 at a time from the post office on line. A bonus is the wonderful chipboard they send in the package. Great for inchies and such.
But they will be on their way ASAP. You should have them in plenty of time.

All of this talk about the kitchen cartridge made me get inspired and I ordered one. True confessions - my DSIL gifted me one three years ago - a Cricut that is - and I have never used it. The Kitchen cartridge will be the forcing factor!

A friend was telling me this weekend that she used hers to cut out big letters, made a scripture verse out of some kind of plastic stick-on stuff, and gave it to her daughter for Christmas. She put it on her wall and my friend said it was just beautiful. There are so many things I am learning about the cricut that I never knew before. I hope to use mine a lot more.

I need to use mine more than I do. Sometimes though I am in a hurry and just don't want to figure it out. Not that it's hard, but it just takes time.

My "From the kitchen" cartridge came today. I am going to read through the book a while, then crank her up and see what she will do. I didn't know it was going to be a "used" one, but it doesn't really matter if it works. It was cheap.

I have my recipe cards for the soup and sandwich swap cut out and printed off now all I have to do is get them glued together and in the mail. Hopefully I can get that accomplished by the weekend so they are there on time. I have been having neuro issues again and it seems my brain is totally screwed up with this flare up! I thought I had signed up for one of each but looks like two so will get them done and in the mail asap.

Lost 50 cents, still no stamps. Cannot get answers from post office, evidently no humans are there, and the robots do not understand the question. Tried on the internet and you can not ask a question unless it is one they want answered from a list, and it is not on the list to ask "Where the heck are my stamps?" I can't even send an e-mail from the e-mail page, because my subject is not acceptable. Can't call my local PO because of the nasty lady. But the credit card statement is here and they are paid for.

Hi all!
Right now DD and I are sitting in Dunn Bros. in another town waiting for a 2:30 p.m. appointment. I just got done buying fabric to make my quilt! It will be a pink and brown baby quilt. I have bought 3 quilting books, several magazines, and watched videos made by Jenny at Missouri Star Quilt Co. on You Tube. So wish me luck ladies with my first quilt!

I used to quilt in the 1980's and made them all completely by hand. I can't do that now, I wore my poor little hands out cleaning teeth for 100 years.
My son and his wife wanted me to make them a special king sized quilt for their 25th anniversary. I told them I would but it would have to be by machine, and they said that was fine. I started collecting fabrics. I have all the fabrics bought, have a lady lined up who will quilt it for me, and all I need to buy is the backing fabric. I will get started soon, am really looking forward to it.
By the way, the 25th came and went and they will have their 27th in October. That's how far behind I am.

The weird thing is that until about November or maybe October, I never had any desire to EVER, EVER quilt. I know how to sew but never enjoyed it and hadn't done it since my children who are now 24 and 21 were little. Then last August I made my mom and I aprons with International Harvester fabric for a steam show that we belong to and was featuring IH in 2012. I was so intimidated since I hadn't sewed in almost 20 years but found out I actually enjoyed it. I work in a public library and one day started looking at a quilting book and it took off from there!
You will get the quilt done Sybil! I know it!
