An older gentleman was playing a round of golf. Suddenly his ball sliced and landed in a shallow pond. As he was attempting to retrieve the ball he discovered a frog who, to his great surprise, started to speak! "Kiss me, and I will change into a beautiful princess, and I will be yours for a week." He picked up the frog and placed it in his pocket. As he continued to play golf, the frog repeated its message. "Kiss me, and I will change into a beautiful princess, and I will be yours for a whole month!" The man continued to play his golf game and once again the frog spoke out. "Kiss me, and I will change into a beautiful princess, and I will be yours for a whole year!" Finally, the old man turned to the frog and exclaimed, "At my age, I'd rather have a talking frog!"

Hugs!

"Well," the rancher puffed up, "We got about two and a half inches of that."

Please excuse the interruption, but here’s a
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
with some Important Information about Shopping for the Men we Love!
(I thought this might be helpful, with Valentine’s Day in the near future)

Gifts For Men

Buying gifts for men is not nearly as complicated as it is for women. Follow these rules and you should have no problems.

Rule #1:
When in doubt - buy him a cordless drill. It does not matter if he already has one. I have a friend who owns 17 and he has yet to complain. As a man, you can never have too many cordless drills. No one knows why.

Rule #2:
If you cannot afford a cordless drill, buy him anything with the word ratchet or socket in it. Men love saying those two words. "Hey George, can I borrow your ratchet?" "OK. By-the-way, are you through with my 3/8-inch socket yet?" Again, no one knows why.

Rule #3:
If you are really, really broke, buy him anything for his car. A 99-cent ice scraper, a small bottle of deicer or something to hang from his rear view mirror. Men love gifts for their cars. No one knows why.

Rule #4:
Do not buy men socks. Do not buy men ties. And never buy men bathrobes. I was told that if God had wanted men to wear bathrobes, he wouldn't have invented Jockey shorts.

Rule #5:
You can buy men new remote controls to replace the ones they have worn out. If you have a lot of money buy your man a big-screen TV with the little picture in the corner. Watch him go wild as he flips, and flips, and flips.

Rule #7:
Do not buy any man industrial-sized canisters of after shave or deodorant. I'm told they do not stink - they are earthy.

Good Morning Friends!

Have a WONDERFUL Wednesday!

... ... ... ...

Today is Escape Day,
National Croissant Day,
Inane Answering Message Day,
Yodel for Your Neighbors Day,
and Jazz Day.

Enjoy your holiday of choice today!

Please excuse the interruption, but here’s a
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
with more Important Information about Shopping for the Men we Love!
(I thought this might be helpful, with Valentine’s Day in the near future)

Gifts For Men

Buying gifts for men is not nearly as complicated as it is for women. Follow these rules and you should have no problems.

Rule #8:
Buy men label makers. Almost as good as cordless drills. Within a couple of weeks there will be labels absolutely everywhere. "Socks. Shorts. Cups. Saucers. Door. Lock. Sink." You get the idea. No one knows why.

Rule #9:
Never buy a man anything that says "some assembly required" on the box. It will ruin his day and he will always have parts left over.

Rule #10:
Good places to shop for men include Northwest Iron Works, Parr Lumber, Home Depot, John Deere, Valley RV Center, and Les Schwab Tire. NAPA Auto Parts and Sear's Clearance Centers are also excellent men's stores. It doesn't matter if he doesn't know what it is. "From NAPA Auto, eh? Must be something I need. Hey! Isn't this a starter for a '68 Ford Fairlane? Wow! Thanks."

Rule #11:
Men enjoy danger. That's why they never cook - but they will barbecue. Get him a monster barbecue with a 100-pound propane tank. Tell him the gas line leaks. "Oh the thrill! The challenge! Who wants a hamburger?"

Rule #12:
Tickets to a football game are a smart gift. However, he will not appreciate tickets to "A Retrospective of 19th Century Quilts." Everyone knows why.

Rule #13:
Men love chainsaws. Never, ever, buy a man you love a chainsaw. If you don't know why - please refer to Rule #8 and what happens when he gets a label-maker.

Rule #14:
It's hard to beat a really good wheelbarrow or an aluminum extension ladder. Never buy a real man a step ladder. It must be an extension ladder. No one knows why.

Rule #15:
Rope. Men love rope. It takes them back to our cowboy origins, or at least The Boy Scouts. Nothing says love like a hundred feet of 3/8" manila rope.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
with Important Travel Information!

A man was inspecting communications facilities in Alaska. Since he had little experience in flying in small planes, he was nervous when they approached a landing strip in a snow-covered area. The pilot descended to just a couple hundred feet, then gunned both engines, climbed, and circled back. While the man’s heart pounded, the passenger beside me seemed calm. "I wonder why he didn't land," the man said.

"He was checking to see if the landing strip was plowed," the fellow passenger replied.

As they made a second approach, the nervous man glanced out the window. "It looks plowed to me," he commented.

"No," the seat mate said. "It hasn't been cleared for some time."

"How can you tell?"

"Because," the man said, "I'm the guy who drives the plow."

The Michaels family owned a small farm in Canada, just yards away from the North Dakota border. Their land had been the subject of a minor dispute between the United States and Canada for generations. Mrs. Michaels, who had just celebrated her ninetieth birthday, lived on the farm with her son and three grandchildren.

One day, her son came into her room holding a letter. "I just got some news, Mom," he said. "The government has come to an agreement with the people in Washington. They've decided that our land is really part of the United States. We have the right to approve or disapprove of the agreement. What do you think?"

"What do I think?" his mother said. "Jump at it! Call them right now and tell them we accept! I don't think I could stand another one of those Canadian winters!"

Please excuse the interruption, but here’s a
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
with a reminder that there are some Dumb Criminals in the World

A Miami woman facing drug charges made her situation much worse when she laughed at and then flipped off the man with the gavel.

The 18-year-old was in court for charges relating to possession of Xanax, a prescription drug. The Judge was in the process of setting her bond. He asked her about the value of her jewelry. She laughed. That was strike one. "It's not a joke,” the Judge said. "We are not in a club. Be serious about it."

The young woman replied: "I'm serious about it, you just made me laugh. You just made me laugh, I apologize. It's worth a lot of money."

The perplexed judge asked if she had taken drugs within the past 24 hours, to which she answered, "Actually, no." The judge then set her bond at $5,000 and said, "Bye-bye." She chuckled and said, "Adios." Strike two. The judge summoned her back and raised the bond to $10,000, eliciting gasps from those in the courtroom.

The young woman asked if the judge was serious. Judges are not known for their humor, and this particular Judge is no exception. "I am serious," he said. "Adios."

But the young woman wasn't finished. Instead of leaving the courtroom she flipped the Judge the bird and said "F*** you." And that was strike three. She was again called back and then sentenced to thirty days in the big house for contempt of court.

Good Morning I would like to encourage anyone interested in the Movie recipe swap to join it that is so much fun! I'm doing a bunch of Disney movies with recipes BUT did you know almost every movie (94%) have foods in them!!!!! Now I know what I always feel like snacking & eating when I watch movies...its the mental pictures of them eating!!

anyway it's so much fun to take your favorite movie design a card around the scences or a character or theme from the movie and add recipe to it!!!!! I love this idea and will be starting my own personal Movie Recipe book. I'm also thinking a great Christams present for mom's of my grand kids maybe something they will add to and pass on?

I've mentioned before in case those of you new with me this swap I create and shop for Christmas all year long so by Thanksgiving I can truly enjoy the season (stress free and with huge savings) as my shopping and gift making is all DONE!!!!! you ould not believe the money you can save and can end up with really nice thoughtful gifts (usually several) by creating throughout the year. I swap skills with folks and barter crafting skill services with others and works great. I'll do cards and party decor for someone knitting for me an item OR I'll complete a premade scrapbook for someone doing a wood shelf for me ETC look around you probable have many skillful talented crafters around you as we tend to attract those folks because we share interests. I LOVE gift baskets so for under $10 I can create baskets that in a store would easily cost me $50 something to think about and if you have never experienced a Christmas season (Thanksgiving to Christmas) without having to shop for gifts (try it) you'll never go back its so wonderful and saves you a bundle of money!!!!!!!!

I'm also thinking my disney recipes in a basket with a dvd or the disney book and some non-perishable recipe ingrediates would make for a lovely family movie night gift!!!!or a welcome gift for new neighbors? even a great mommy & me gift for a busy working mom

Great movies already on the list check it out!!!!!!!

Thanks I do get a lot of thank you cards and calls from the younger generation!!! BUT I do put plenty of thought into them throughout the year. My family knows this and stay in touch better so i'll know there interests and not just quess or do same theme as year before.

one year all my gift baskets at Christmas were "bath" from the smallest to the oldest they all let me know fragrances they had come to like. I made soap's, lotions and bath gels and I had a friend trade my skills for her's and she made hand towels with their names on them and dyed them in colors each liked. the dollar store shopping added a few little goodies and all finished those baskets weighed a ton were running over and smelled great I still hear comments about those baskets.

last 2 years I've done cooking baskets for the GUYS!!!! I themed them for grilling, football and movie snacks with a "guy" dvd as part of basket. I got dvd's from yard sale finds (not new but they were to them and) the baskets all contained recipe books.(many from recipe swaps right here at SCS) the guys loved them especially those grilling ones. a local crafter at church made some chef hats for me and I stamped their names on them. my trip to dollar store was misc little things for grilling and some snacks (3 or 4) again those baskets were full. week before Christmas when I do my usually holiday baking I baked each guy dozen of his favorite cookies. I added things like peanuts and some fudge and it was big hit. I had about $8 cash invested in each basket but you would have paid well close to $40 if I bought everything during christmas shopping season. Oh I added a t shirt for each I got on clearance at target & walmart at 50 cents each!!!!!! I love clearance sells.

all new brides always get a recipe book basket, kids get baskets too and the teens I just adjust to items for there age. paper dolls was big hit this past christmas with all the grand daughters. I had so much fun.

this idea of movie recipe books and a basket around that idea is my first project idea for the comming year. I'm liking it a lot. I found on interent most every movie has its own website and tons of stuff you can download and print! and the movie trivia sections are wonderful. Like I didn't realize that in movie ground hog that it was key lime pie he was eating at diner and every time they shoot the scene it had to be a new pie just so he got 1 fresh piece!!!!! funny. disney movies same thing amazing pictures, word puzzles and book marks and everything free to print.

most people may not even think to trade or barter off services but stampers can create so many things, invitations, party stuff, holiday cards, personal stationary and so many items its a talent worth trading and if you are like me when it comes to knit, crochet, sewing and wood work its worth asking. More often than not when I ask the person they are surprized and feel complimented that I like tehre work so much I'm willing to do for them and exchange. in this economy right now folks love being able to do this and meet their needs and obligations. I'm even willing to buy supplies if its an issue because of income and I've never been disappointed. of course all the absolutely wonderful talented folks here in these swaps provide so much sometimes we don't think about that (like where all our creations find homes) I try my best to do my best in my creations because I feel very honored to have someone add my scrapbook pages to their family albums that will eventually long out live me as generations pass them along. folks keep cards and add them to books and sometimes frame them even simple ornaments live on for years sometimes generations. do you have any special ornaments that are family heirlooms? my son in law has all his yearly ornaments on thier tree that he made as early as kindergarden!!!!! and his little ones love seeing daddy's or mommy's work when they were kids. priceless

Please excuse the interruption, but here’s a
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
with a warning about Keeping Your Shoes On

One day a man drove his secretary home after she fell quite ill at work. Although this was an innocent gesture, he decided not to mention it to his wife, who tended to get jealous easily.

Later, that night the man and his wife were driving to a restaurant.

Suddenly he looked down and spotted a high-heel shoe half hidden under the passenger seat. Not wanting to be conspicuous, he waited until his wife was looking out her window before he scooped up the shoe and tossed it out of the car. With a sigh of relief, he pulled into the restaurant parking lot. That's when he noticed his wife squirming around in her seat.

"Honey," she asked, "have you seen my other shoe?"

Please excuse the interruption, but here’s a
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
with some Tips for Student Pilots

1. Takeoffs are optional. Landings are mandatory.

2. If you push the stick forward, the houses get bigger. If you pull the stick back, they get smaller.

3. Flying isn't dangerous. Crashing is dangerous.

4. It's always better to be down here wishing you were up there than up there wishing you were down here.

5. The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.

6. The propeller is just a big fan in front of the plane used to keep the pilot cool. When it stops, you can actually watch the pilot start sweating.

7. When in doubt, hold on to your altitude. No one has ever collided with the sky.

8. A "good" landing is one from which you can walk away. A "great" landing is one after which they can use the plane again.

9. Learn from the mistakes of others. You won't live long enough to make all of them yourself.

10. You know you've landed with the wheels up if it takes full power to taxi to the ramp.

Hugs!

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
with some more Tips for Student Pilots

11. The probability of survival is inversely proportional to the angle of arrival. Large angle of arrival equals a small probability of survival -- and vice versa.

12. Never let an airplane take you somewhere your brain didn't get to five minutes earlier.

13. Stay out of clouds. The silver lining everyone keeps talking about might be another airplane going in the opposite direction.

14. Reliable sources also report that mountains have been known to hide out in clouds.

15. There are three simple rules for making a smooth landing. Unfortunately, no one knows what they are.

16. You start with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience before you empty the bag of luck.

17. Keep looking around. There's always something you've missed.

18. If all you can see out of the windscreen is ground that's going round and round and all you can hear is commotion coming from the passenger compartment, things are not at all as they should be.

19. In the ongoing battle between objects made of aluminum going hundreds of miles per hour and the ground going zero miles per hour, the ground has yet to lose.

20. Good judgment comes from experience. Unfortunately, experience usually comes from bad judgment.

21. It's always a good idea to keep the pointy end going forward as much as possible.

22. There are old pilots and there are bold pilots. There are, however, no old, bold pilots.

23. Remember, gravity is not just a good idea. It's the law. And it's not subject to repeal.

24. Always try to keep the number of landings you make equal to the number of takeoffs you've made.

25. The three most useless things to a pilot are altitude above you, runway behind you, and a tenth of a second ago.

And a bonus tip:

Helicopters can't fly; they're just so ugly the earth repels them.
