We were at WalMart today, and I decided to check out the Saffron. A little jar with .6 ounce was $17.98. It was in a regular size spice jar with a little plastic tube thingy inside that held the saffron. That is not much bang for my buck. It must be very good. I really wanted to open it and smell it but it was sealed. I don't like the taste of turmeric either, but don't know if I have ever had saffron.
Maybe this should be one of my "bucket list" things to try??????

It is Crock Pot Chicken Cacciatore, sent in by Paige. Will let you know the results as soon as I can make it. It's cool where I live in Venice FL righ now, day temps being in the 70's, so it just sounded good to me. And the Slow Cooker Nutella Bread Puding sent in by jmventrilla sounds like a good dessert to follow.

Good Morning Friends!

TGIF!!!
And it’s only 24 shopping days until Christmas!!!

... ... ... ...

Today is You’re Welcome Day,
Judge a Book By Its Cover Day,
Computer Security Day,
Squirrel Hunt Day,
National Mousse Day,
National Call Congress Day,
National Meth Awareness Day,
Ham & Roast Beef Night,
and Stay At Home Because You’re Well Day.

Enjoy your holiday of choice today!

Please excuse the interruption, but here’s a
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
reminding us to seek good medical care when ill!

A Veterinarian was feeling ill and went to see her doctor. The doctor asked her all the usual questions: what were the symptoms, how long had they been occurring, etc. Suddenly, she interrupted him: "Hey look, I'm a vet - I don't need to ask my patients these kind of questions: I can tell what's wrong just by looking." She smugly added, "Why can't you?"

The doctor nodded, stood back, looked her up and down, quickly wrote out a prescription, handed it to her and said, "There you are. Of course, if that doesn't work, we'll have to have you put to sleep."

YUM!!!! I'm still hoping I get that chicken recipe. If I don't, I may have to get Paige to tell me how to make it anyway. (I love love LOVE my crockpots - I own 5 and use at least one crockpot 3-4 times EVERY week!)

Hi Laura, Venice is on the West Coast just below Sarasota. I played 18 holes of golf yesterday afternoon and it was a gorgeous day. We finished at 5 p.m. and it was still nice, thought it might cool off a bit after three o'clock but it was still beautiful.

Will let you know about the Bread Pudding when I get around to making it.

Hi Ladies!
I have a question, it may be silly. How are you storing your recipe cards? I have one 6x6 album that is stuffed to overflowing and I know SU no longer sells 6x6 albums and/or extender posts. Any ideas for me?

My wonderful recipes came today. I haven't really had time to read and touch and examine all of them, but just looking at them I can tell they are great. Thanks everyone, and thanks to our hostess for the great swap!

I didn't know what to do when I started either, Paige, and here is sort of what I do. Someone posted a recipe card in this holder, and I couldn't find where to buy them. I gave the picture to my brother-in-law who is soooooo creative and sooooo sweet, and he made me one that is very similar. He made his wife one too, and said "No, I will not make all your friends one." So he is not in the business. But I am sure you can do some research on the internet and find something similar. Mine has quite a few recipes on it but will hole more because they flow themselves around in a circle. I LOVE IT!

Thanks SybilMcC for the Saffron lead. Walmart huh, woulda' neva believed it! Yes it is pricey but it is a wonderful flavor. My suggestion to people who have never used it is to try it with a bakery item if you find one. The reason the package is so small, they are tiny little threads and you do not need to use much. Believe me, it is nothing like tumeric!

Thanks for the info on the 6x6 albums Pat. I don't live near a HL, but my DD does, so I will be sure to check it out the next time I'm visiting her.

OMG SybilMcC, that is a fantastic recipe stand! Well my DH can barely change a light bulb so I am out of luck with getting him to make one. But I'll keep my eyes open. It seems to me there was someone's DH who made something similar, but that was a long time ago, when I first tried 6x6 recipe swaps.

We think he is. Mostly. He is somewhat larger, has longer legs, and when his hair grows out it curls somewhat. The vet says he may have a leeeeeetle bit of poodle in him. We rescued him in May so we aren't really sure. But he is our sweet Charlie and whatever he is he is fine with us. He has that laid back, sweet snuggly personality our Flossie used to have and looks an awful lot like her. She was a registered Shih Tzu, was smaller than Charlie.
He was in a very bad situation and now he is so happy. And I am too.

Jeanette, those look more like the one David made for me. It doesn't have a swing thing but has holes on each side and a dowel through them. That way you can prop the one up that you are using. I just love mine. I didn't know you could buy them. Thanks for getting that info.
Some people file them in boxes and other things. I think whatever works is good. I am just blessed to have David around.
He is really creative, he made a harness for Flossie (My sweet little dog) when she lost her eyesight. It is leather and has a metal hoop that fits on it that went out around her head to keep her from bumping into things until she learned how to navigate herself and her face healed up. He can do anything.

Oops! I'm sorry... I actually came here to say that I received my recipe cards today. Then I got distracted with searching for wooden stands. LOL!

I actually have a few 6 X 6" books to hold my recipe cards... but now I want a stand.

Roxane, thank you for being a fantastic hostess! You did such a good job! And I love the prize!

I received gorgeous recipe cards (yummy, too, I'm sure) from Joyce (Penguin Treats), Sybil (Macaroni and Cheese Casserole), and Tammy (Potato Bacon Casserole)... and an unsigned Egg Nog recipe.

This has been such fun!

He does look some like a shih tzu -- i have two of them! Cade and Anni. Before these two we resuced a tzu - she was spotted at dumpsters for a week and a gal said if the dog would get in her car, she'd help her out. well, Sarah LOVED car rides so that was NO problem. And sweet sarah thought SHE was the one to raise our son......lolol her build seems real simlar to your charlies.

hugs!

Charlie is probably mostly Shih Tzu. He is overcoming a lot of abuse and neglect. The vet estimates his age at 5 years old, and he had a lot of medical problems. He had a big umbilical hernia, the vet said it had been there all his life. We got that fixed, got his ears cleaned out (they were packed with wax and fur) got his teeth cleaned, (His gums were horrible), got rid of the fleas and tapeworms, medicated his skin and started him on good food and vitamins (he had major gas and other digestive problems). But he is fine now except for the itches. He loves to ride too, we take him to yard sales and the bank and wherever dogs are allowed. He is beginning to learn that I am going to hit him every time he sees something in my hand. For a long time he would freak out and run if he saw a yardstick or broom in my hand. But now he understands that I would never hurt him.
He has helped me with my grief over losing Flossie, and we have been really good for each other.

Sybil --- yeah - the umbilical cord is how Cade got himself "tutored" <G> back when he was 4 MONTHS old!!!!!!

Vet thought Sarah was 3 when we got her. and she lived to 16. But she wasn't in such sad, sad shape as your charlie. poor little dude!!!

Cade was just diagnosed this year with allergies to 27 things!!!!! So he was put on a STRICT diet - no grains, no gluten, no bunches of other stuff. And i put childrens alcohol free, dye free - mostly everything free but the price! I told him it was a good think i REALLY liked him!!!!!! <G>

My Cade's coloring looks similar to your charlie -- except Cade has one eye black and one white. and my kids claim he is a MAJOR momma's boy - but what would grown kids know anyhows?????????

lolol
hugs!

Charlie is the first boy dog we have had in over 20 years. He is adorable and a real mama's boy and I don't care who knows it.
We may have to do some experimenting with his diet. He doesn't have flaky raw places any more, and his skin looks normal. I told him one day I thought that scratching was a habit. He is really healthy now. He has gained about 4 pounds in the 6 months we have had him. I just can't imagine anyone being mean to him, but they must have been. He is just now trusting us. He's a happy happy fellow.

Hi all!
Glad you are getting your cards! They are all wonderful! I so have to agree!
I have been sitting in my chair trying to finish a book on my kindle - Flowers on Main by Sherryl Woods. Got 20 pages left but want to make chocolate chip bars, so I had better get to it. I have to go to work at noon.
Have a good day everyone!
