Talking February 2011 Project of the Month

Cat Packer Amy Rohl designed this sweet gifty pouch for those times you need a little something for a special someone. Slide a little gift in the pouch. A pencil, a sucker, a tube of glitter for that crafty friend. A little gift goes a long way.

Check it out. It's the Project of the Month.

Okay -- figured out what I'm doing with all this extra time on my hands due to being snowbound! Making 25 of these little cuties for Carter's classroom Valentine exchange. Man, am I ever going to look clever thanks to my dear friend Amy! Woot-woot!

This project was so QUICK!! It was so easy to whip up and looks so cute when done!!! I punched an oval shape for my opening - you can make it whatever shape you want and stick in different candies or treats!!

Plus playing with shrink plastic?? SO fun!!

Any hints or tips for using the Shrink Plastic, Julie? Some of us (cough, cough) find that stuff a tiny bit intimidating...

Just love Amy's project and had to give it a try myself. Here's my version...

Oh Carole, don't be afraid. Although, my tip would be to sand a bit first, then stamp in Stazon, then color but with lighter colors. I think my little PJ is a bit too dark...oh well.

Leigh is right, the colors do darken as you shrink it. And sanding does help with the coloring, but it's best not to color too much - that's when it streaks. Be careful when you cut it too, it tears easily! But mostly I just think it's so fun to watch it shrink up!!

Love your project Leigh!!

I love shrink plastic! Julie is right, the colors do darken when you color, so you have to be pretty lighthanded. It's like you need to color a third lighter than you would normally to get the color you want when you shrink it.

And, I use a heat gun to shrink, but if you have time, put it in the oven, I think it shrinks flatter. And it's fun to stand at the oven and watch it go.
