I would have never thought about creating my own hinges and embossing them to match. How very clever you are!;)

I tried this but I have one problem........... I used the faux hinge for a card and after the folder was opened once or twice the embossing powder started to crack and pop off. I didn't have the coasters to try it on so I made a card.
Did anyone else have the same problem?

Great ideas! I've made similar hinges in the past as well, using SU Cardstock and coloring it with our metallic pads and letting them dry. Copper over Rust or Choc Chip looks pretty good. Silver over Black. Gold over Mustard or Tan is okay too. They won't crack like Emb. Pdr.

readable file here
I thought this was a great idea! And since so many folks were having trouble reading the Word file, I saved it as a pdf. Anyone should be able to open it now. (If you're still having trouble, go to adobe.com and make sure you have the newest version of adobe installed on your computer.)
Best,
Shannon

When I saw some of these items in the gallery, I thought oh no, more money to spend (on hinges and would I find the right size?) well thanks to your instructions, I can save some money and time. Thanks for posting the instructions!
