  Doubly confused. Hi. I've read and re-read this tutorial, and been shown it by my upline, so I finally bought one thinking my world would change. Here's what I'm not getting: let's use the letters, for example. Say I stamp my alphabet on the sheet, remove the sheet, la la, however it works...because every single stamp is not perfectly aligned on my wood block, how do I know how to reposition it on the cardstock when I remove the clear sheet? Does that make sense? let me put it in simple terms to see if i'm doing this right. Ok, i'm going to stamp a title, let's say the word 'hello'.
1. put down cardstock
2. put down clear sheet
3.line up stamps H,E,L,L,O by stamping each one on the plastic sheet
4. pick up the stamps, remove the plastic sheet but leave the samj positioned where it was ligned up
5. re-line up the stamps H,E,L,L,O according to where the samj has been left
Is this right? What am i not getting? what if one letter is positioned a hair higher on teh block than the other, so that you cannot line up all wood blocks perfectly? How does it correct for those little things? Grrrrr....i'd really like me titles to stop being so darn crooooooked.

If you are doing what I think your doing (stamping the whole word on the plastic), that's not right.
You just stamp one stamp in the corner of the plastic, position the plastic over your cardstock, place SAMJ next to plastic, remove plastic, and stamp your image. Then repeat for the rest of the letters.
The tool is to enable you to see how the stamp is positioned so that you can ajust the plastic, in turn ajusting your stamp, before you stamp it on your cardstock.
Thanks for your tutorial, Kurtis. I just sent a link about this to a friend who recently became an SU! demonstrator. You did a great job explaining the SAMJ!

Kurtis ... thank you for these clear & precise directions. I have looked at the stamp-a-ma-jig and thought I don't need one of these but now I see how easy it makes things work I might just have to order one!
I had never noticed this tool before. I'm still a little confused. This tool helps you line up stamps. What is the plastic sheet for? I guess I don't see it in the tutorial. I'm usually one who has to see it in person. I haven't seen this in person yet.
Thanks,

Thanks,
The SAJM is to line your image up on the paper so that it isn't slanted/sideways. the imaging sheet shows how the stamp is positioned on the stamp, so that when you line up the sheet, you are also lining up the stamp. does that make sense?
Kurtis,
NOW I get it! NOW I NEED one of these! Last night I was trying in vain to line up a stamp inorder to complete a swap I'm involved in (my first swap), then it occurred to me-I need the stamp-a-ma-jig. It would have saved me from restamping, trimming, etc. I will buy it. Thanks for the tutorial and the help.
OMG!!! have the thing and couldnt figure it out...the WORD program only had a few images for my computer...but the adobe page...WOW figured out how to do it...thank you so much! now will make a quilted card...wahooo!
PS--don't know how to do the poll yet...but make mine a YES!

Hey, I am glad this website keeps useful information. It will take some practice to master, but I am at least hopeful. I have had the Stampamajig for years and never used it. This website is a treasure! Thank you!
I have some new stamps that are quite small and I think would look good as a continuous pattern to make my projects look "bigger" and the Stampamajig should work with some patience and practice. I am not especially patient and rarely happy with my finished work. But I have so many stamps, papers, embellishments and keep buying more, so I need to really try to use them.
I am trying to be a little kinder to myself and just encourage my creativity to come out in small steps. I found the instruction sheet for the Stampamajig and assume the rest of it is around here. I will announce to the world when and if I get it working for me.
I love my stamp-a-majig and use it all the time! I am a stickler for making things straight and evenly spaced so, the SAM is perfect for me! I only wish I had bought a second sheet before they were retired from the SU catalog though.
For a stamp that I often use the SAMJ for I use the clear sheet that comes with the $1 stamps and stamp my image on there in staz-on then keep it with with the stamp.
Love my SAMJ

Wow! That is a really great idea! I could even use quilting template plastic.....which I had not thought of until just now!
Long story. Been a "stamper" for years, joined scs years ago, forgot my login info, different computer, started over with my husband's name (thus the RichardPeters name. I am Sally), start and stop with the stamping activities, just got a digital camera and haven't taken any photos of the cards I have finished. If any of them (cards) do turn out, I hurry up and mail them to someone who might appreciate the "accomplishment" ---like another stamper. I just retired and have set up a little stamping area, and have made some inroads into the collection of materials. Someday I will post a photo of a finished item (using Stampamajig, of course). I don't do any scrapbooking and don't plan to get into the high-tech end of the craft. I have enough stamps, inks, paper, punches, papercutters, brayers, etc. to last a lifetime and/or achieve what I want/hope to and must "use" some of that before ever thinking of branching out beyond. However........I am heading to Las Vegas next week and plan a trip to the stamp store there and will probably have to jettison a lot of my belongings into the wastebasket in my hotel room to make luggage-room for my "finds" in that store. Happy Stamping!
I am quite sure it is here "somewhere". In the meantime, I have other materials and tools to keep me amused. The info on this thread has been most helpful.
