Maple Leaf Anyone been to Niagara Falls?

Hubby & I are planning a trip from Texas to Michigan & will only be 4 1/2 hours away from Niagara Falls, so thought we would visit for a day or so.

Has anyone been that can share their favorite part of visiting Niagara?

We are going to be on the Canadian side & I really want to do the Journey Behind the Falls....not sure what else is worth seeing/doing since we will be driving over & just staying one night. Not going til around June 20th so would love to hear your Niagara stories.

I haven't been in FOREVER - I was born in Buffalo and went to college up there too so I don't remember the great spots, but here are some fun things you might want to do:

Everywhere I've been that he recommends is great - Diners, Drive-ins and Dives Niagara Falls, Ny Restaurant Listings, Maps, Locations, Seen on TV

Here are some spots with ratings - Best Things to Do in Niagara Falls | U.S.News Travel

I'm from Texas too - where do you live?

The one of the best places is on the American side and called Cave of the Winds. You get dressed in booties and poncho and go out onto walkways under the falls. It's better than the one on the Canadian side that is basically a tunnel behind the Falls with a hole to look through the water. The boat ride Maid of the Mist is great. The tower (I don't remember the name) on the Canadian side has wonderful views. Night is the best time in Niagara Falls because of the lights on the Falls. Just hanging by the Falls and watching the water and people watching is fun. The rest is just wandering around poking into shops and there are other "tourist trap" things to do like the Wax Muesum, Hardrock Cafe, chain restaurants, casino. My husband and I just like the outdoor stuff and the views and prefer to skip the "traps".

I was born in Central New York and lived here most of my life and had to see the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Eiffel Tower when I was in college before I ever saw Niagara Falls...LOL!

OK, we may try to check out the Cave of the Winds when we cross back into the US on our way South. Thanks so much for the info.

I live in Niagara Falls... depends what would you like to see...

we love hiking in Niagara Gorge - lots of marked trails through interesting scenery, but the terrain is a bit rough, so not suitable for someone who has difficulties walking..
Niagara Gorge Trail Reviews - Niagara Falls, NY Attractions - TripAdvisor

There is also the Butterfly conservatory, botanical gardens, Marineland (especially if you have kids who love rides and sea animals)
