Default In search of information re: Picasa

Some of you who "know" me understand that I am kind of computer challenged, and I am hoping there is some one here who can help me.

I have used Picasa for some time, though I know I am greatly underusing the capabilities. I attended a class at our library yesterday, and the instructor used Picasa. It is a new version (maybe 3.9?) and had some features I would like to have.
I think my version is 3.0. I have a couple of questions.
If I update or change - will all the photos I have stay as they are? I do not want to lose some of my albums.
Do I uninstall what I have and install the new version?

Thank you. (I did a search but what I turned up seemed rather old, so I felt I should start a new thread.)

You won't lose any of your photos. Open your Picasa, click Help, then Check for Updates and follow the instructions.
