I know. I'm so jealous. We don't have your temps but we are getting clobbered with a Nor Easter which is dumping upto 14 inches of snow on us today. I'm so ready for spring. just 18 more days....

yellowrose46 03-02-2009 05:51 AM

Angie, I love the photo of your son's firebelly toad........looks like a salamander or something like that. That photo also shows the wonderful texture of the rock!

MariLynn 03-02-2009 05:58 AM

Angie, I love how you captured the texture of the lizard against the rough rock. This challenge sounds like it will be a fun one. Thank you for all you do getting these photo challenges for us!!! It is appreciated!

Thanks guys! Hubby says it's a green anole. He's into those kinds of scaly things.

Joann and Diana - don't get too jealous! We woke up to this texture and schools were cancelled!!!! Wooo Hooo for me the teacher! :D

Duckwaddlequack 03-02-2009 09:41 AM

Diana, I can't see the toad pic! Where did it go?

Joann, it's just the macro setting on my point & shoot samsung. I don't have a SLR, yet!

Here are mine - a guitar!! I think it's got a real cool texture - thin, steel strings - wider, harder, larger strings - polished, honey-colored wood. I love the guitar!

Here are two more - this smooth, tiny bead, and the rougher, large-weave linen tablecloth. I set my camera to super-macro for this shot.

scrown8301 03-02-2009 09:02 PM

How fun! Love the 2nd pic Angie!

Hannah, the 2nd pic of yours is amazing too! Love it!

weederberries 03-02-2009 09:03 PM

I told myself I would not be posting any more photographs from prior to challenge dates, but...I've bought 3 bags of candy to photograph for the sweets challenge and I've eaten them each before I got out the bowl and had the right lighting to snap a shot. And, while I was thinking of fun textures, I thought a photo of sand might be nice, but I already have a terrific photo of sand (and no nearby sand to photograph) so here it is...an oldie from our Thanksgiving vacation to Arizona, via White Sands, NM.

Angie - what a fun topic! WOW the possibilities are endless! Love your two pics - that green is so perfectly vibrant and the lizard/rock is a perfect contrast in textures! Love the focus of your frizzy flower softens around the edges. Beautiful!

Diana - for some reason I can't see your pic?

Hannah - your bead is so fun to admire - but I have to admit I am in love with those guitar pictures! You did a great job really capturing it's opposing textures!

Lisa - your sand is so perfect! Love that windblown texture! My folks live in Palm Springs so they get to see the beauty of it every day!

Since living here, I gotten lots of pictures like this one. The flowers are so beautiful. I thought the bumpy, prickly texture of a cactus would be good for this challenge.

This is a picture of a cameo that my grandmother gave me when I was 15. I love it because it was hers when she was a girl. I also like the neat crack in it- it gives it an antique flair! I've never worn it - I only look at it. :-D

As I was walking to the mailbox today, I was pondering the 'texture' question. Suddenly, there it was before my eyes..........the texture of the melting snow. It was a snow bank along the side of the road, so the plow had also plowed up some salt and sand, and this is how the snow melts when the sun is warm, but the temperature is -10 C. The second photo is of a spot in my backyard, where a bit of snow had melted and left ice crystals behind.

yellowrose46 03-03-2009 05:49 PM

Lisa, I love your sand photos.
Hannah, I love the angles on your guitar pics! Lovely cameo too and the crack makes it more interesting.
Deborah, cool little reptile........I'm not too familiar with them, so can't tell what it is.

Great photos so far, sure like the sand and ice! Both creatures look cute...nice photos of them.

The tile and border is in our master bath and those are real stones so the touchy texture is very nice.

The tree is the maple in our backyard and I like the different textured of the bark as you look up the trunk.

I took the Sempervivum (hens and chicks) yesterday after a dusting of snow, they certianly give texture to the landscape beds year round.

girlzclubstampers 03-04-2009 02:05 PM

Great photos, all!!

Roxie, that angle on the tree pic is GREAT!
Ina, that snow is lovely!!

geekgirl415 03-05-2009 12:16 AM

Amazing pictures- all of them- OMG! I keep forgetting to check in here for the challenge, but finding a texture will be on my to-do list tomorrow (today)...

Jealous not in the least bit. You can keep it!!! hahahahaha just kidding.

My parents live in NC - called me up and said they got a few inches of snow. While I was home with two boys out of school again due to the 12 inches we just received. thanks dad!

Proud Mom 03-05-2009 02:44 PM

Deborah - that spiny lizard is marvelously textured! Great focus - so crisp and spiky against that nice soft hand! That cactus is beautiful too!

Hannah, - love that cameo. Especially the shot in the box with the shiny satin lining. What a special memory for you to have!

Ina - those crystals are incredible! What a lucky find and you did such a nice job balancing the white!

Roxie - those are great shots! I especially love the texture of the tree trunk - you picked such a great angle to shoot it!

Diana - that guy is so colorful! Great texture against the smooth glass. Beautiful shot!

Love all the photos of different textures! Great job y'all!

Here are some of mine that I snapped recently:
The first is my little dog's face, the second is a bell that has paint peeling off of it, and the third is part of a grasshopper and the bug cage it is trapped in.

Thanks for the challenge Angie!!

yellowrose46 03-06-2009 04:21 AM

Lisa, for a minute there, when I saw your dog's eye, I thought you had taken another trip to the zoo! It almost looked like the eye of a gorilla.........sorry if I insulted your best friend (I didn't mean to!)
Roxie, I love the tree photo! Great angle. The hens and chickens are cool too.
Diana, love your little toad.

Diana, love your little toad.

He thinks he's as big as a gorilla, especially when there are other dogs around!

Lisa - those are great examples of texture! That grasshopper looks scary! Love Chip's close up too -- makes him look rather wise!

Hi! I've been lurking on this thread for a few weeks, admiring the talented photographers. I thought this would be a fun one to try, so I took a series of pictures of some gerberas my DH gave me this week. Hope you like these two I selected for the thread!

yellowrose46 03-08-2009 05:30 PM

Great shots, fellow Canadian! Welcome to these fun challenges.

yellowrose46 03-08-2009 05:31 PM

Angie, I love your new profile photo!

Rox71 03-08-2009 05:31 PM

StampinCdn, I think you could make some money at this...great photos!

I really enjoy seeing everyones photos.
so many talented ladies.

Here is our "not so little" backyard critter.

yellowrose46 03-09-2009 04:19 AM

Barbie, incredible how many different textures on one little creature. This photo is fabulous!

Proud Mom 03-09-2009 06:24 AM

Stampin Cdn - love that flower - it looks so soft! What a marvelous color too (and lucky you to have such a thoughtful hubby!)

Barbie - Wow-- he is textured! Awesome! When you say he's your backyard critter does that mean he roams around your backyard? Cool! How old is he?

Proud Mom 03-09-2009 06:39 AM

When the topic was first given I decided instantly that I was going to take a fieldtrip to the cemetary and shoot a 'textury' tombstone.

Well, a whole week has gone by without me going over there. SO - yesterday I decided to re-think my topic. Looked around and come up with this:

(Sort of a sign of spring as well?)

JMCDA 03-09-2009 11:40 AM

Pam! You are killing me! Is that a baby tomato? Waaahhhhh! It will be another 4 months or more before I see one of those!

Beautiful shot btw :-)

Joann

JMCDA 03-09-2009 11:45 AM

I think you pretty well win the prize for texture on that critter - is it yours?

I have an orange and white critter wandering in my back yard too but mine goes meow :-) ...anybody want a lost kitty?

Joann
