Photoshop Lightroom 4?

Hi Everyone,
I found this forum sometime before Christmas last year I think. I really wanted to try some of the photography challenges, but just haven't made the time to do so. I am not giving up - I'm sure I will eventually!

I shoot with a Canon T2i, with a variety of lenses - 18-55mm kit lens, Canon 55-250mm IS f4.5-5.6, Canon 50mm f1.4 (my fave!), and two new ones Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 and Tamron 70-200mm f2.8. I needed the faster lenses as I often photograph my son and his wheelchair basketball team in low light gymnasiums - and its fast action to boot!

I have a question about photo storage/sorting and editing software. I am currently just using iPhoto. It's "fine", but I'm thinking about getting something with a little more power/functionality. Does anyone here use Photoshop Lightroom 4??

Lightroom is made by Adobe, the same company that makes Photoshop but it isn't part of the Photoshop suite. It is a very powerful program. I got it for Christmas and have used it a little but not as much as I'd like. The learning curve is a bit steep but once you master it it's a great tool. Many of my pro-photog friends use it.

Thanks Kate! The pro photographer I took a beginner DSLR class from highly recommended it, and also offers a weekend class on it as well. I'm really tempted to try it.

I just use iPhoto right now, but would like something a little more powerful without going straight to photoshop.

Lightroom and Photoshop are really very different things. I have and use both but for different things.

That's what I understood. I may try the trial download first, see if I can wrap my head around it. I don't do a lot of touch up in photos, I'm sure Lightroom would do more than I want!
