Default Photo Editing software?

I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 and just don't know enough about this software to edit my photos well. Also I do not like that the organizer doesn't grab all my photos, I have to bring them in one at a time! Too exhausting!

Is there a good photo editing software that also has a good organizer too? I do use Picasa but it is quite basic and I think I'm a little past that. I still don't understand layers, etc. so I'd consider myself amateurish...(is that a word?!)

Thanks for any and all help

Kathy

I always used to use GIMP, which doesn't have any organising elements.
I need to upgrade my PC to be able to use Elements properly, but for my birthday last year my husband got me PSE11, and the organiser in that upgrade definitely brings all my photos across in one go.
I hope someone else can help you.
To advance any further, it's worth getting to grips with layers. I bought a book because it's how I best like to learn, but I'm sure you could find plenty of free online tutorials.

Oh you're right, I'm afraid...just need to buckle down and "get a grip" with the layers thing. I do learn fairly well with a book, but I think I'll look up some Youtube videos too. I wondered if PSE would ever make an organizer that would grab all the photos...now I should probably invest in it, even though my PSE 9 has hardly been used at all!

My one clincher is that I have a new laptop that has no cd drive! I'll have to opt for a download of the software...
