Photo challenge # 96 Fall Splendor. Don't you just love the gorgeous fall colors seen in nature at this time of year? We always have a great show of oranges, golds and reds in the fall, but this year it seems more beautiful than ever, due to an abundance of summer rain, nice sunny days and a late frost. I realize that the southern states does not get as many vibrant colors, but I'm sure you can come up with some lovely harvest oranges, reds or golds.
Photo Challenge Rules:

I already had my photos picked out, but this morning on my way home from work the sun was burnishing a gorgeous tree in someone's back yard and I had to stop and trespass on their lawn to take the last photo.
Oops, I missed the last photo from that group. Now it's the first one in this group. It's the photo I took on my way home from work this morning (yes, I work nights). The third photo here is of the Chinese lantern plants that grow in the ditch near my house. Don't they just look like little pumpkins?

Gorgeous! The colours are good here, I just hope we have enough sunshine to get some good shots. I nearly went to the park this afternoon once the grey cloud lifted.
I love those physalis / Chinese Lanterns. We had them when I was growing up, and in our last house I grew them. But man, they took over! Our neighbour admired them, so when we left I gave her some roots, but warned her she might be sorry.
They all look fabulous, but I like the third shot (first in second post) the best.
one of the things I love the most about this time of year, The colors. great shots you guys really captured all the gorgeous colors of fall.
I agree! Your photos are SO Pretty! We had GREAT color here right now, I'll have to get out and get some good shots of it, fun idea!

Yes Sabrina, the Chinese lanterns are very invasive, but I have some at the back of my property and I manage to keep them under control by mowing the errant ones. Also, they are a bit in the shade and I think they like sunshine.
Armadillo, even though you don't have fall colors on the trees, I am sure you can find fall colors in other things........for example a basket of apples, or a Halloween display, or many other things that spell fall.
Lela, looking forward to seeing your photos.
I love fall!!! Will have to go get some shots of the leaves around here sometime but for now I'll leave (haha) you with some "fallish" pictures of this past weekend when all the cousins got together and carved their pumpkins (that's my brother cutting the tops off the pumpkins, it was all his idea to get the kids together and do it. What a crazy day!). (there are some leaf changing colors in the first picture but not the pretty colors )

Love those photos, Amber. I like the first one especially, because we don't have clapboard on houses here, to me it looks SO American. When I was little I used to get an activity magazine (Humpty Dumpty, it might have been called?) from the States, and the pictures in it were like a whole different world compared to Ireland in the late sixties. Pumpkins, the houses, popcorn on the Christmas trees...
We've had leaden grey dull skies here without a ray of sunshine, so I haven't managed anything yet.
Just got back from taking a few (85) pics of the kids in the park!sorry I forgot to rotate the picture...

At last a sunny morning - and we have to go up North for a music practice. So I took my camera when I went out to get the paper and milk, and took these photos in case next week turns all grey and gloomy again!
Cletracloversgirl.......great photo of your kids, such a beautiful family! And I love that they are standing on a carpet of leaves.
Sabrina, according to the photos, you have just as many beautiful colors as we have! I love the bright leaves against the gorgeous blue skies!
We had very high winds yesterday, so now the gorgeous colors are mostly on the ground!

Well - we have the colours, but only in splashes. Not in glorious tapestries of colour as I see in photos of New Hampshire falls, say. Today I was looking down the canal in town, and while one tree was orange, every single other one along the bank was still green.
Green and orange together looks great! I like it best when there are still green trees in the mix with the brilliant colors.
Yesterday a group of us went hiking along the escarpment that runs all the way from the south to the tip of southern Ontario. A lot of leaves were on the ground, but when we got to the lookout point, and looked out over the valley and up the next rise, the colors were amazing.

Thwacker, I love your family photos! Love that you are all dressed alike and the fall leaves make a great backdrop! Love all the fallen leaves on the second photo too! I just love walking on them and the smell of them!
I took this last night after coming home from shooting the day after full moonrise. Surprisingly, my little Nikon Coolpix gave me a better photo than my D60.
Audrey, I love the Halloween decoration. You really got a got shot of the lighting. I certainly enjoy my little cool pix....haven't learned how to use the DSLR properly yet, as my instruction book came in French!
Michelle, that is an awesome photo....that perfect Kodak moment!
