Default Photo Challenge #88 ~ Date and Time {08/17/2010}

Still hoping to hear from Angie soon that things are OK with her.
In the mean time, here's a challenge for this week. I have a couple of ideas simmering away in the back of my mind, but this is the one I was able to take a couple of shots for today, as well as some from the archives.
Anything with date and time - buildings with the date they were built, clocks, watches, plaques on walls, your ID card for work (my photo isn't the worst, but I'm certainly not sharing it!), sundials, I guess even opening hours would count. This should be a fun way of looking at things, I hope. It's surprised me what I noticed that would fit the challenge when I started thinking about it.

Photo Challenge Rules:
~ Have FUN with this! There are no right or wrong photos.
~ Take as many pics as you want, share the few you like best.
~ Please share only current photos, taken after the challenge was issued.
~ We CANNOT upload our photos to the SCS galleries. You may upload them as an attachment or host them from your blog or any online photo hosting site. Just provide the direct link to the photo in your post and also make sure that it is not from a password protected album.
~ Just a reminder that we are a family-friendly site if you are sending others off this site to view photos in an album hosted elsewhere.
~ You can jump in and start any of the photo challenges at anytime..
~ Again - HAVE FUN!

The mainline railway station in Dublin.
Ballast House, just beside O'Connell Bridge in the city centre
A clock on a pub, plus the times for no parking - a double whammy.

These three are from Paris
A mechanical clock called The Defender of Time. It's surprisingly small - maybe now that I have a good zoom we'll go back again; I had to scan this from a print.
A sundial along a walk which follows the track of a disused railway line. You start of high above street level, and this sundial is where you come down into a fairly residential area.
The saying on the bottom that you can see in the close-up doesn't translate fluently because it's a play on words - Time Passes, Pass it Well.

Great challenge Sabrina! Great photos too! I love the one of the Ulster bank best........time and place, with the hours and the name and the beautiful clock. I'll work on this tomorrow! My visitors have finally left, so I'll have more time.

This is the clock in town on the street corner. I took this about a week ago playing with my new camera and then messed it up playing with it in PSE 7.

The Defender of Time is my fav. I really like it. now that you have a zoom I think going back to get a closer view is a perfect reason to go back to Paris.

Katiedoodlesgran (that's a long name...do you have a shorter name?) that clock is really lovely! We don't have anything that pretty in our town, but I'll do my best to find something!

Ha, as if we needed a reason to go back. We try to go at least every other year - still hoping for a November/December trip this year.

That's the great thing about Europe. So many countries within travel distance, and so much history!

I spotted this in work yesterday. I am sure I must have seen it many times, as I walk past at least half a dozen times a week!

I finally remembered to take my camera into town and got a couple of shots. The first one is of the post office clock. The post office is made of limestone, which used to be quite common in this area. Sometimes the clock tells correct time, but at the moment it isn't working. this photo was taken at 9:00 a.m. The next is of the post office hours and the third is of the Sunday service hours of a church across the road from it.

I like that post-office one a lot. It has a very European look to it with that stone. Not pale enough for Paris stone, but it definitely reminds me of western France.
Your post office isn't open at all on Saturday? We certainly don't have any collections or deliveries, but most post offices open for the morning on Saturdays, which I used to use a lot.
The church sign made me smile .

No mail at all on Saturdays here! Yes, churches often post their sermon titles and try to add a catchy phrase to induce people to come in.
A lot of our older downtown buildings are made out of limestone which was quarried out of the rock close to the river here. We have two swimming holes in this area that used to be limestone quarries.

It is a lovely post office as are all the old buildings downtown. We have quiet a pretty little town and the village 3 miles down the road is very scenic too. The same river flows through both towns.

I see this clock at least 2 times everyday. I love it. It's in my daughters house hanging above her fireplace. it really is very pretty.

This was on a house as we were walking along the walls of La Rochelle while on holidays. It was right too, if you allow for summer time!
