Default Photo Challenge #86 ~ Planes, Trains, Automobiles {07/27/2010}

Hi there,
Ina and I still haven't heard from Angie, so here's another challenge to go on with. I was thinking of using this title when I posted the Men at Work challenge back in June, but then we met those cheerful canal workers.
Earlier this month we went over to France for a funeral - it was planes, trains and automobiles for us that weekend...
My train and plane photos are both from Southampton in the UK, where we transferred flights on the way back.
My car photo isn't the one I was looking for, but I always liked it, it's a car park on the same street as my work.

You don't have find all three - any one fits the challenge .

Photo Challenge Rules:
~ Have FUN with this! There are no right or wrong photos.
~ Take as many pics as you want, share the few you like best.
~ Please share only current photos, taken after the challenge was issued.
~ We CANNOT upload our photos to the SCS galleries. You may upload them as an attachment or host them from your blog or any online photo hosting site. Just provide the direct link to the photo in your post and also make sure that it is not from a password protected album.
~ Just a reminder that we are a family-friendly site if you are sending others off this site to view photos in an album hosted elsewhere.
~ Please jump in and join us in the photo challenges at anytime!

Sabrina, great challenge! I like all the photos, but the car park through the mirror photo is superb!

Great pics Sabrina! How clever to take a picture of a car reflected in a mirror! Like the train one, also. Fun challenge. I'll have to do some thinkin' and clickin'.

Default Race Cars

I took all of these pictures at one of my cousin's Summer Shootout Races at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charolette, NC.

Sabrina - very cool pictures. Love the car park through the mirror. Have to ask if that is you taking the picture that is also in the mirror! lol Too funny even if it isn't you.

Becca - Too cool!! Hubby loves Nascar and would love to go to a race. I'd only want to go to take pictures. lol

Thanks! It was really fun. We got to the track at 11AM and stayed in the pits with Chad until well after 1AM. (AND I took pictures the whole entire time we were there!!) LOL!!

It was so much fun. I can't imagine how much fun it would be when and if he is picked up as a NASCAR driver.

@ Amber - yes, that's me in the blue raincoat!
@ Becca - cool shots. I think I like the first one best, with the helmet on the tires.
Did you use a filter on the third one to get the flare from the lights?

The helmet and tires is one of my favorites too! It was the perfect moment. LOL! My Aunt said she knew what I was planning when I seen the guys sit the tires down...And luck for me...Chad just happened to climb in his car at the same time.

I did use a filter on the last one. It was a cross-screen filter. I love using it at Christmas, but I'm glad I thought to bring it to the races.

Sabrina I love the reflection in the mirror, very clever! The other two photos are perfect view points.
**Thanks for posting the challenge, I've been watching for them and even though I don't always check in with a comment I enjoy seeing what everyone finds for the challenge.

Becca the black and whites are both very striking but the stack of tires with the helmet is my favorite of all three.

I took this photo as we were dribing 55 mph down the highway. My husband thought it was a eye catcher for a car restoration business...I was to busy getting the shot to read the info but thought the crashed plane was interesting and the old cars were just a bonus for the challenge. Great challenge topic!

I don't know whether I am more drawn to the cars or the plane in your shot, Roxie - love old cars. The one at the back looks a bit like a classic Citroen that DH covets. I really like the panoramic crop, too.

That Naval Aviation Museum looks like a wonderful place to visit - that shark one is cool, and I love the middle one in your second post, Angela.

Thanks! That one is the front end of a MIG, forget which, my 13 y.o. would know. My boys totally loved the museum! We went 2 days in a row because there was so much to see.

As long as he drives a Toyota, hubby will cheer for him. LOL

Great photos again everyone! Love the race photos, and the aviation pics! Roxie, I love how you seized the moment to get a great shot as you drove by!
I thought I would have a golden opportunity to get some airplane shots Imet my grandsons at the airport, but it happened at midnight. The next day, again, I thought I would get at least one airplane pic, but no! I had to go to the beach to do that! The beach was right in the flight path of a small island airport in Toronto. I also chanced upon a '55 Ford Fairlane when we were shopping.

What an all-American car! I like the way you can see the propellers in the plane shots, too.

Yes, I thought the propellers were cool too. Amazing what you can do with a little point and shoot.. I am still using it (Nikon Coolpix) most of the time, even though I now have a Canon Rebel SLR.

Nice aviation photos Anglea and Ina love that old Chevy!

Here's a fun car used for advertising a meat store. We see it every time we take the north route to my daugther's house.

When you are posting your comment - scroll down past the message box and you'll see Manage Attachments, click on it and a new box pops up that'll allow you to retrieve your photo from your computer.

Personally I like your big photo, saves us some clicking time. I'm wondering how you do that but I assume it's because the photo is uploaded to another site.

It's a great photo!

Ah, I like that one. It was a car mirror one I was trying to find as one of my examples. That's something you wouldn't really see here - we don't have the weather for starters, and I'm not sure what the safety rules would be either.

That looks so fun. I bet they had a blast! Love the colors and how you got the shots of the train while you were on the train.

That must have been a fantastic outing. The scenery looks spectacular, and the train is pretty amazing looking too - I'm admiring the woodwork in it.

I've been scanning old negatives and slides into my computer. The Grand Canyon train image is from a negative taken in 1993 at the Canyon and the first time I had been there in the winter. The other is a digital shot of my car (and shadow) taken last September at Monument Valley.
