Arrow Photo Challenge #6 - In 10 minutes time...

I hope everyone has been enjoyed a fabulous weekend! Got your cameras ready for a new challenge? I hope so! I think this on is going to be especially fun. There are no limits in what you might find to share with us all!

The only task for this challenge is to pick a starting place, then get 10 minutes away and photograph something there. You can start from home, work, the store, the park, you name it. And however you end up 10 minutes away is your choice. Whether it be to walk, run, jog, drive, catch a bus, ride a horse... Whatever suits your fancy!

It's just that simple!

Photo Challenge Rules:
~ Have FUN with this! There are no right or wrong photos.
~ Take as many pics as you want, share the few you like best.
~ Please share only current photos, taken after the challenge was issued.
~ We CANNOT upload our photos to the SCS galleries. You may upload them as an attachment or host them from your blog or any online photo hosting site. Just provide the direct link to the photo in your post and also make sure that it is not from a password protected album.
~ Just a reminder that we are a family-friendly site if you are sending others off this site to view photos in an album hosted elsewhere.
~ You can jump in and start any of the photo challenges at anytime..
~ Again - HAVE FUN!

We recently discovered a wonderful park just 10 minutes from our house. This weekend, we went and I believe we happened upon the last butterfly of the season. (Or is he a moth?)

That shot is amazing! I love it- and I think it may be a moth!

Love the photo...be it moth or butterfly

I had a similar project that I did while in a college literature class, except we had to write about that place when we arrived...

These photos were taken 6 mins. from my house going North. I have a story to share about fall leaves. My son commented on a couple that live in the same town that we do. The husband is color blind and the wife says that we live in the worst place in the whole world and if she could move she would. He said how sad it was that they couldn't see the beautiful colors of the fall leaves. He said "One can't see and the other won't see." I thought it was very profound for a 12 year old boy. Maybe I can try to find something 10 mins from work later on this week.

MariLynn: Living in Florida, I don't see those beautiful fall leaves you have there....thank you for sharing them. And thanks for sharing your son's wisdom. Very moving.

The butterfly pictures are beautiful. And MariLynn your fall shots are gorgeous. We just spent a week looking for fall colors in Calif. and didn't have much luck.

Yesterday my husband and I went to the pumpkin patch to take pictures. I should have gone weeks ago. Some of those pumpkins won't make it until Halloween. lol.

About a 10 minute drive from my house, depending on how many red lights I hit, is a pumpkin patch and carnival. It was a bit too hot, but the kids still had fun.

Those photos look like they should be in a brochure for a day camp, they're fantastic!

Lisa, I love the way you have captured the kids in the middle of having fun. Great action shots. I really like the way you have the one pumpkin close up. Very eyecatching and artistic.

Oh and I didn't notice this before but those are some gigantic pumpkins. See the wheelbarrow in the middle? They are huge!

Ooo! Is that a 'real' pumpkin patch....like where they grow? Love the photo and surflola's right--the pumpkins are huge compared to the wheelbarrow!

Nice!

MariLynn, lovely fall photos! Love the reflection! And such a wise son you have!

Those are some big pumpkins in that great shot, Joyce!

Lisa, I love your action shots, esp the swings. I've got a lot to learn when it comes to capturing action. Fabulous close up of the pumpkin!

Well, I took a quick trip today, to see what I might find for the challenge. I decided to go to the end of the City Limits and drive for 10 minutes....zig zagging down some country roads. I was getting a bit disappointed with the corn fields gone and most of our trees bare these days. I was almost at my 10 minute limit when I came across this old abandoned barn. It is so close to the road, I never got out of my truck to take the picture.....hehe!! If you notice the green grass in the one corner, that's the edge of the ditch to give you some perspective of how close to the road it is.

Thanks for looking....((I couldn't resist putting an actual frame on this one!))

I did use a macro lens on my Canon EOS XTi. I think the butterfly in flight is awesome. I tried for 2 hours to get mine in flight, he was just too quick for me.

Oh the barn is gorgeous. I love taking pictures of old barns and buildings.

sazzy, I too have been quite frustrated trying to capture butterflies in flight. I can't believe how patient you were! I usually give up after 20 minutes or so lol.

My DH dosen't like to go with me when my intent is to take photos. I will spend hours and at time have even risked life and limb to capture a good shot. I literally took 2000 photos yesterday and was in my glory. I'm blessed to be on this beautiful island for the next 3 years. I'm out every weekend with my cameras.

All of these pictures are amazing. Love them all. It is really nice the way the edges of the grape picture fade out. Is that done with photoshop?
