The week turned busy, and I never got into the back of the attic to look out the Christmas lights. And then, it's bright till late in the evenings now - when it's not raining...
Which is all a way of saying I didn't get round to last week's challenge, but this should require less groundwork, LOL. I'll take a look-see what I can spot on the way to work this morning, and tomorrow I am visiting my aunt who has a wonderful garden.

Oh sure! Now we have to think about words that begin with T. Why is it when I have to think of words that begin with a certain letter my brain goes all gooey? Must be why I suck at "Scattergories". Off I go to think and shoot.

Default T is for Turtleback Tombs

There are two types of tombs on Okinawa: the turtleback tomb (kameko-baka) and the gable type. The turtleback tomb is easy to spot due to its distinctive shave (resembling the back of a turtle's shell). The tombs line the hills and streets and can be seen in a variety of sizes nearly everywhere on the island.

This was taken outside my bedroom window

Thinking of some sort of still-life with my tripod, LOL, but in the meantime I saw this thrift on the way home. Funny thing is it wasn't out visiting my aunt, in the seaside town where I grew up. It was right here on the road that I walk to the bus-stop going to work, and I hadn't noticed it before. Brought me straight back to walks along the seafront growing up.

Here's a picture of my dog in her tote! I bought it so she could go with us on vacation, but she kept sticking her head out, so she had to stay in the RV.

Thoughts of a loved one. Took this over the weekend at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetary, and it brought tears to my eyes.

How amazing that those tombs are all over everywhere just like that. Had to look up a bit about them, sounds so interesting. There are a lot of old megalithic tombs around parts of Ireland, but you wouldn't always know they were there if they weren't signposted! Love that little dog in the tote.

T is for Tower!! I was in Chicago recently and had lots of fun taking pictures!!! It was a blast. My aunt lives in a high rise apartment on Lake Shore Drive. Her apartment has four different views of the scenery - and it was GREAT!!! I was only there for one night and a morning, but we had lots of fun together.

T is for Torii Gate. These are found at the entrance to Japanese Shinto Shrines. This was taken in Kamakura during Cherry Blossom time. (Guess I should go take another one to qualify for the challenge, but they're all over the place here.)

Love the photos from all the different places in the world.........sure expands my horizons!
Here are a few T photos of mine. Finally found out how to upload my photos from my new little Polaroid P&S.
The first photo is of horses trotting on the track on the farm down the road from me.
Second is of an interesting tree on the golf course.
Third is of a unique tree trunk.
Don't let the name of the photos fool you. These photos happened to be on the camera when I took wedding photos and I don't know how to rename them

I tried taking a picture of this Tower for an early challenge - might have been the one about travelling ten minutes. But I wasn't happy enough with it to upload. I took this one this morning from work, since I'd brought my big camera to get some more bridges!! It was a bit awkward because the windows don't open very far.
It's called St. Patrick's Tower (that's St. Patrick in his bishop's mitre and cope on the top), and is the largest surviving windmill tower outside the Netherlands.

Wow! Sabrina, that tower looks really big. I count 8 windows and I can't even see to the ground.

It's 120 feet high according to the stuff I found about it. I knew before it was St. Patrick on the top, but I hadn't known it used to be a windmill. I'm used to the Greek ones, which are pretty small!

I wouldn't mind the tendrils if I could get hostas to survive the loving attention of all the slugs and snails, LOL. Love the little duck hidden in there.

Thanks!
And if they were anything other than morning glories, they wouldn't have lived long enough to wrap themselves! I got them uncoiled and going up the porch rails now, though so it's all good!

Default T for Tiny

Hi Everyone. I've been "playing along" for the last few Photo Challenges but haven't had a chance to download and post until now......I really enjoy the photo prompts and think I'll even 'time warp' back to past challenges and try them out if that's OK.

So here's my "T" for "Tiny". We have lots of hummingbirds in our backyard so I spent one of my first days with my new camera shooting them and lots of other foliage. I love the detail of this shot (I did crop it) and the juxtaposition of the title of "Tiny" with this little bird that fills the frame. Enjoy!
