Arrow Photo Challenge #3 - Heavy Metal (10-5-08)

Hey ya'll! Big thanks to all of you who played in the photo challenges so far! Hope everyone had another great week of picture taking! I'm in PA right now visiting my parents and fall has definitely arrived here! I'm wearing my camera out!

Ready for a new challenge? This week, let's find something metallic to focus our camera's on! Find anything made of metal but with a restriction - no cars or car parts! My sample is posted below.

Things to remember:
~ Have FUN with this! There are no right or wrong photos.
~ It's ok if you take 100 pictures or just one, but pick the one or two that you think best represent the challenge to share with everyone, not all 100 though!
~ Share only current photos, taken after the challenge was issued.
~ Please share photos taken by you.
~ We CANNOT upload our photos to the SCS galleries. You may upload them as an attachment or host them from your blog or any online photo hosting site. Just provide the direct link to the photo in your post and also make sure that it is not from a password protected album.
~ Just a reminder that we are a family-friendly site if you are sending others off this site to view photos in an album hosted elsewhere.
~ You can jump and start the photo challenges at anytime.
~ Again - HAVE FUN!

~ Metal staircase at Bodie Lighthouse, OBX NC.

OK.....I'm loving this challenge.....although, its made me really LOOK around....hehe!!

We have a beautiful sunny day and so it was only fitting to head down to the local downtown park. The river actually splits into three directions.....one section of land has the Farmers Market, the other section of land has the skate board ramps, playground and picnic area and the third section is part of the Chippewa Nature area with walking trails. So, I took a few photo's of the Tridge. Then, when we got home, I realized my front door is metal, so I added that photo. Its a start, right??

I HOPE when the kiddo's are in school this week, I can travel around to see what else I can find.....

Thanks for looking.....

Angie, Very cool challenge and I love that spiral staircase...SO cool!!

AudryAnn, that bridge looks so cool. Looks like a great place to go on a nice sunny day.

question, I know you said no car parts...what about plane? We have a place with old military planes that we were at over the weekend and I think i took some pics of that. Just wondering. I'll be going out looking for metal stuff to photography all week...

A plane is not a car! Go for it, Donna!

Audrey - that bridge looks so cool! What a neat sounding place!

I can't wait to go out and shoot for this challenge. I was telling my DH about the challenges posted here. We brainstormed and came up with some really cool things to take pictures of for this one. I can't wait to go out and take those pictures!

Hello. I've just found the photography thread about 2 weeks ago and I just LOVE it! I've also been following your challenges. They are so exciting. I love to challenge myself.
So I've just taken a few shots of my DD's saxaphone. The very last one was the money shot!
Oh BTW, I've seen that lighthouse on tv before. It was the subject of a "ghost hunters" investigation. If it's the same one that I'm thinking of, it was said to be haunted

Default Did you say metal or mettle?

A few heavy metal things I found yesterday at the Miramar Air Show. Lots of metal there! Lots of mettle too...

How about bikes and bike parts? That would be too easy for me. I'll start looking for metal things that aren't all over my dinning room, hallway, spare bedroom...

dairy queen: love your money shot of the sax. The golden colors and play of light and dark are so jazzy. Also, the landscapes you posted on the other thread reminded me of the promise of fall!

Love all of the photos here, there, everywhere. Thanks for all you duckwaddlequack! Off to find some heavy metal...:>

Welcome and keep 'em coming girlfriend!

Angie, I love how your photo of the spiral staircase has such a neat vantage point.

AudreyAnn, I love the reflections of your bridges in the water. I especially like the angles of the one in the middle.

Deanne, I like how you have just part of the sax in your photo. I like the way the light shines on it.

Lisa, I like the point of view of your airplanes.

Angie, thanks for another wonderful challenge. I am going to have fun hunting metal this week.

I had some time this afternoon so I went out with my camera and got some metal photos. I had a really hard time deciding which ones to share.

The first one is the bell of an old school house.
My second one is a windmill with corn ready to harvest.
The third one is metal fencing at a resturant's outdoor seating area. I liked how the angles look.

Default metal objects

Everyon'es photos are brilliant so far. I had trouble finding things, her is what I came up with.
We are building a new pool, so here is our glass fence. The second one is the inside of our gas patio heater & the third, our stacked patio chairs.
Thanks you to the challenge organiser, I am enjoying the challenges.

Pat, I love the angles that you captured in the photo of the glass fence and the chairs. I love the perspective of looking up at your patio heater.

Betsy, I like how the grass looks like around the hay rake.

Thanks everyone on the comments about the photo of the Tridge. I need to invest in a tri-pod.....and then I will *attempt* a night shot of the bridge with its lights on. I'd really like to get a photo of the bridge with the lights reflecting in the river.....boy, am I dreaming big there, huh??.....

Thanks everyone!!

I am loving this photo forum! I haven't explored it too much, but wanted to jump into a challenge. I am always looking to improve my photography!! Thanks for the challenge and I just love everyone's metal photos!

Angie, your stairwell photo is so cool! I love the spiral!

AudreyAnn, those bridge photos are beautiful! I wish I could visti that park! Your door must be awesome IRL - it looks like a wooden door!

Deanne, very cool gold tone in your picture of the sax!

Lisa, the air show photos are great! I get too see an air show almost daily here on the AFB, and it is always cool! LOL

MariLynn, the photos you shot are great! I really think the windmill is my favorite! Haven't been to Iowa in a few years, it brought it all back!

Pat, I love the pool photos, especially the fence. And I am jealous that you are getting a pool soon!

Betsy, that farm thing is very cool, I love the creepy nighttime feel of that one! It's as if the combine/baler thingy is the line between the town and the "others" from The Village!

Well, I decided to shoot my old patina Metal Door Chime from Thailand. I have had it for a few years and I just love that thing. DH hates it! LOL I attached a couple of shots, I couldn't decide which ones I liked.

Here is my first heavy metal shot. When I saw this challenge I knew I wanted to take a picture of this railroad bridge that goes over the TN river. I went that way today for a doctor's appointment and I took the camera with me. It was rainy and dreary today and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get a good shot of it. In my head I saw it on a bright sunny day. I do like what I was able to come up with but I was limited. It was pouring down rain and I had to stay under a covered patio. It was raining so hard that I was even getting wet under the cover.

I know which other shots I want for my other 2 pictures for this challenge but I'll have to try to get those later this week!

My plans are to go Thursday or Friday night?? They're saying rain for the next 24 to 36 hours, so we'll see. I found the timer on my camera, so I'll set it to go off 10 seconds after I push the button....and let it do its thing. Let's hope it all works out like I have it planned out in my head??

Crossing my fingers for this one.

Jeanne......I really like the middle photo....for some reason, I'm drawn to the dark shadow in the middle of the photo. I like the depth and shadows in it!!

Lola.....what a unique photo....I like the black and white in this one!!

Michelle.....this is very interesting....I do like the gray tones in it. I would love to see this same photo on a nice sunny day?? That would be a great comparison!!

Thanks for sharing everyone......keep 'em coming!! I love seeing everyone's photo's.

This is really cool! I think my favorite is the first one. I have several wind chimes outside. Anytime my friends get windchimes they give them to me. I don't know why they don't like them!

I know which other shots I want for my other 2 pictures for this challenge but I'll have to try to get those later this week!
Michelle, great shot of the bridge. I like it kinda gray. It would be interesting to see the comparison with a shot taken on a sunny day. I like the action of the speeding boat.

I found something metal in my house today. The chandelier in my dining room is metal. This picture is a close-up of it.

So I've just taken a few shots of my DD's saxaphone. The very last one was the money shot!
Oh BTW, I've seen that lighthouse on tv before. It was the subject of a "ghost hunters" investigation. If it's the same one that I'm thinking of, it was said to be haunted
I love this!!!

Default my chandalier

It was so funny to see your chandalier, when I was madly trying to find something metal to photograph, I took a photo of ours in the dining room, a little more modern than yours though

I am loving looking at everyone's photos and thanks for the comments. I have had a busy couple of days but will post comments on the weekend.

I am jealous that you both have such nice chandeliers, your photos prove that. I have a very outdated 60s vintage, ugly light fixture. I wish it put out more light because I stamp under mine.
