Arrow Photo Challenge #25 ~ ismiles {3-8-09}

Yippie! We've made it to challenge #25!!! Hard to believe there's already been 25 weeks of photo challenges, feels like we only just got started! Time to have a little "celebration" wouldn't you say? I thought so! So I picked up a tiny treat which can be viewed in the second photo and all you have to do to win it - play in this challenge or the bonus challenge, both listed for this week. Everyone who shares a photo in either thread by Saturday, March 14 at midnight will get entered into my jar and then on Sunday, March 15, I'll draw a winner! And you get the little pocket guide!

Disclaimer: I'm not trying to imply that anyone here is a dummy.... I got one for myself as well!

Now for challenge #25: it's fairly simple, easy and painless! I hope everyone gets a chance to play along. This week, find something that makes you SMILE and share it with the rest of us. It's that easy! Can't wait to smile about your photos this week!

Photo Challenge Rules:
~ Have FUN with this! There are no right or wrong photos.
~ Take as many pics as you want, share the few you like best.
~ Please share only current photos, taken after the challenge was issued.
~ We CANNOT upload our photos to the SCS galleries. You may upload them as an attachment or host them from your blog or any online photo hosting site. Just provide the direct link to the photo in your post and also make sure that it is not from a password protected album.
~ Just a reminder that we are a family-friendly site if you are sending others off this site to view photos in an album hosted elsewhere.
~ Please jump in and join us in the photo challenges at anytime!
~ Again - HAVE FUN!

Here's what has me smiling from ear to ear recently - blooming floral buds!

Oh Angie - how fun! We are so thankful to have you setting these challenges! Very generous of you to run that little contest. I'm going to start thinking about what to shoot - such a fun topic!

Love those blossoms - what a vibrant blue sky! It is the perfect background for those luscious pink blossoms!

I took these yesterday. Had to fight with my son to sit still for this picture. He was much more interested in riding four wheelers than posing for Mom. He makes me smile.

2 things that never fail to make me smile are my family and snow!

The Alaska railroad goes behind our house and I can hear the train coming from miles away. We were in the middle of a snowstorm and I decided to run back there and get a pic when I heard the train. Turned out to be a passenger train and I am sure they all got a good laugh at my expense The next 2 are pictures of my 10 yr old son, Joseph. He was the only one of my kids who came out to play in the snow with me..the 2 teenagers stayed inside.

Thanks for another fun photo challenge Angie, love your flowers too...soon they will come here in Michiagn too...I did see new growth of the iris and lilies.

I love the train photo and all the cute faces. My first thought was people too but DH won't let me take a photo of him and the kids don't close enough.

So I did an angel teddy bear and looking into the kaleidoscope I made about ten years ago from stained glass.

Love all the photos! They have all made me smile, even the snow, which also made me cold!

Our little dog Chip makes me smile, so here are a few of him. He is shown helping my dh install a dishwasher, helping my FIL cook dinner, and going at his normal 90 mph speed.

Default Make me smile...

Here are a couple that make me smile! One is of a raccoon that ran up a tree and I ran in the house to get my camera. The raccoon was probably wondering what the heck is going on, why is this lady taking my picture! The other is of our dog, Koda. She was playing really hard outside with my dh and must have been so thirsty and she helped her self to the freshly filled bird bath! She is such a stinker! She makes us smile a lot!

These are all such wonderful photos. They made me smile too. My middle son would not be smiling if he saw that raccoon. The freak him out!

This picture makes me smile. I took it this weekend when we had gorgeous weather. It felt like spring and it made me think that its closer than it feels sometimes. Our 8 inches of snow just melted.

what a fun challenge Angie! Everyone's photos are fabulous!

There are a lot of things that make me smile. My DD isn't here so I couldn't take any photos of her. But DH and the dog always make me smile. DH is taking a nap right now so I just had to sneak in and take a photo of him. I tried to get a 2nd shot but the flash almost woke him up so I didn't dare try for anymore.
So this first one is of DH taking a much needed nap. And the second one is of our dog, he loves to pose for me when I pull out my camera! lol

I had some visitors this evening, and they always turn me into a giddy, giggling idiot...moose! One of my absolutely favorite things about living in Alaska are these wonderful creatures. They were in my yard for almost 2 yrs, just munching away on trees. It was a cow and her adolescent male. I didnt even finish my dinner because I was too busy snapping 151 photos of them I just wish all 151 pics had come out decent! I took them through my dining room window so there is some glare/reflection in some of the pictures.

Here are three things that make me smile. The bunny and racoon that lived in my back yard last summer, and the little santa ornament that reminds me of my favourite ornament that mom had on her tree when I was young. bunny017.JPG IMG_0484.JPG DSC_0219.JPG

Kaspring - that's a wonderful shot of your son. Terrific posing and the lighting is awesome!

Lisa - Love that train shot - wow did you ever capture the feeling of winter. And your son is so cute - that's a wonderful close-up!

Roxie - that angel teddy photo is beautiful - love the white color scheme and the beam of light - gorgeous! That kaleidoscope is amazing - who would have 'thunk' you could get a great shot of the inside of it!

Lisa - Chip makes me smile too! Perfect set of photos - love that shot of him going 90 mph -- so fun!

Lynn - great shots. I think dogs make our lives so much more fun! Great raccoon too - I think he was posing for you!

Surflola - that is an amazing shot! WOW - looks like it could be a poster or something. What lens did you shoot that with - the flowers look so 3-D I want to touch them!

Sharon - what a precious shot of your hubby! and your dog is so cute - love the angle of that pic. Great!

Lisa -- wow, Wow, WOW! What a fantastic backyard visitor! Honestly, amazing --your shots are great - love the soft fur in that 3rd one. (Are they dangerous at all?) Can I come take pictures for an afternoon? I promise I won't stay any longer than a few hours - it would be way too cold for me!

Craftygirl - sweet shots - I can tell you really thought about the challenge. You did a great job!

Did some careful thinking about what makes me smile....then I narrowed that list of 2908 things down to 3 pictures.

First, my family and traveling. (Have to admit this was taken before the challenge was issued. My husband is out of town all week, so I couldn't take a fresh photo.)

This was on the first evening of our Baltic Cruise last summer - I just held out the point n shoot and took this one picture of the three of us and I love it!)

My next choice is this photo I took yesterday. There are several reasons I would include it for this challenge: I love hiking with friends, I love geocaching and I love making it to the top of the mountain and enjoying the wonderful views from the top. (Lots more about this hike on my BLOG today if you are interested.)

My third choice is my 2 poodles. I tried to get them to sit together, but it wasn't happening. SO - here's Turbo posed nicely-- you'll just have to imagine the second one. Honestly I can't imagine life without them!

Angie this was such a fun topic!

Thanks!

I have been thinking of a lot of things that make me smile, my children, my church, a hot cup of coffee first thing in the morning. This challenge if nothing else reminded me that I have a lot to be greatful for. I finally decided on what I would photo that makes me smile and that is my computer. Now before you laugh at me let me explain. I love, love SCS... on my computer. I love getting emails from family...on my computer. I love what I saw once in someone's signature "I love my computer, all my friends live in there." That is how I feel. So here is my computer monitor.

Default WARNING- Might be gross to some people!

What makes me smile? Doing cool science experiments/dissecting with my 5th grade students. I took pictures the other day when we did a cow's eye. They loved the jelly like fluid and lens that was inside the eye, which is pictured here.

I have a lot to smile about this week. I have just been to visit my grandkids and the youngest (will be three in May) loves doing the dishes! I know, it's just a phase, he'll get over it!

Default Grandkids make me smile! (part two)

When I returned to Canada from Austin, I was able to bring my 10 year old grandson back with me. . He's been begging to come all winter to play in the snow, but when spring break finally came, most of our snow was gone. However we found some and these photos show his enjoyment and pleasure and certainly will make me smile for a long time.

Marilyn, I love it! I think it's a perfect thing to make you smile. I almost took a picture of this weeks Hobby Lobby coupon. It is for 40% off Wilton Products. So I got close to $175 worth of products for under $100. It was awesome!

Michelle, eww! But I can totally see why it would make you smile though.

Ina, Your grandbabies are so sweet! Great photos!

Some really good photos players!

All the animals are so cute, I want to cuddle the racoons, loved the moose and dogs are always welcome here too! Hopefully we'll see moose on our Alaska trip this year.

Wonderful people shots too, Sharon you got a good one that my DH would approve of!

SufLola, I could frame that photo and use it for inspiration! Beautiful!

As for the eyeball, good thing you told us what it was Michelle, I'd thought it was a egg seperated and wondered how you did that!

Default This makes me smile

Like other posters my grands can always make me smile...this was taken in december at my older son's wedding...this is my youngest grand age 3---he stole his Uncle Kenyon's hat (my younger son is at the Merchant marine Academy) and said he was practicing to be an officer. that is my 4 year old grand daughter from my older daughter peeking over his shoulder....

Default Yikes! It's already Sunday!

Sorry I'm so late! And to think, I was starting my quest to find pictures for this challenge the first day it was issued! LOL
What makes me smile? Well, like many of you, I discovered there is a lot in my life that makes me smile, and this challenge was a good reminder of that. So I am submitting just two photos of the many things that make me smile, but it was a tough decision! First, my girls and my hubby make me smile, I am so fortunate to have them in my life! However, I couldn't find a really good photo of the three of them, but I found a recent fave of my two girls. Just looking at this photo makes me smile! The second picture is of a glass egg. I collect eggs, and this one is one of my favourites, not only because it is so pretty, but also because it is a memento of my favourite trip-a Baltic cruise, which included a 3 day stay in St Petersburg, Russia. I loved it there, it was beautiful! This egg reminds me of that trip, and I just have to smile!

Wow! So many great smiles here! I have to go back over and spend more time on each! Just an FYI - I may not get the next challenge and winner posted until tomorrow. We had the in-laws come into town kinda last minute and they have spent a few days with us. It's been fun but super busy and I just had to sneak away to come post this!

I missed the challenge, but wanted to post what makes me smile. My last kid at home is almost grown and I think I've transferred the love to my dog! I didn't know I would be a dog lady, but she does make me smile!

She was playing really hard outside with my dh and must have been so thirsty and she helped her self to the freshly filled bird bath! She is such a stinker! She makes us smile a lot!
