My other hobby, besides stamping and pictures, is cake decorating, so I've got a few sweet shots. A few of my favorite cakes or cake shots:

A Little Bo Peep cake for my daughter's first birthday.

A train cake for nephew's 4th birthday.

Petite cupcakes for my sister's baby shower.

And a few more:

A baby shower cake for my brother's new arrival.

A rustic treasure chest cake for nephew's 5th birthday.

The spinner on this cake says "Stephen is older than..." and the pieces say things like Dirt, Moses, The Hills, etc. Made it for my BIL's 40th.

Your cakes are great Lisa! I took a cake decorating class 30 yrs ago just after I got married - ended up doing cakes and gingerbread houses for country clubs and banquet halls, weddings and lots of neighbourhood birthdays! I gave it up when I started painting professionally but now my daughter who is 27, wants to try cake decorating so I have passed along all my stuff to her - Wilton still uses many of the pans I purchased way back then - the cake artistry has improved though

Lovely pictures you have of your creations, I found my pics not too long ago and most have faded but I can still remember making them!

Joann

P.S. as of last thursday evening DD and I have a wedding cake to design!

Here are a couple of my sweets I have made recently. They aren't anything fancy but I sure did have fun doing them. The first one was this past New Year's Eve cake/mil's birthday cake. Our NYE theme was casino, hence the dice. The second one is my youngest son's 10th birthday cake. The third one was made for last year's cub scout Blue & Gold banquet.

Lisa and Diana,
Both your cakes are amazing. I'd be doing well just to spread the icing evenly!

Lisa, your cakes are amazing! They are so great, I would hate to cut into them! Love the train and the treasure chest the best! But if I were to eat any of the desserts above, I would choose Angie's choclate fondue with strawberries!
Really, Angie, this challenge is no fair! My keyboard is all wet from my drooling!

What a fun challenge, Angie! Love your shot of the birthday cake - the candle flames are amazing - did you use a special filter? And the chocolate looks so yummy!

Lisa - you are as talented in cake decorating as you are in photography! Those cakes are beautiful! So colorful, precise and simply gorgeous!

Diana - your cakes are adorable! How clever are you to make such intricate cakes! I love those skateboard wheels - they look especially yummy!

Deborah - that pear cake looks scrumptious! I checked out the recipe on your blog and may have to give it a try!

(I have a feeling this is going to be a fattening week!)

Here's a cake I whipped up....

Not fancy by any means but I added extra chocolate inside the cake and drizzled down the sides helps to make up for that...and hey, you can never go wrong with cherries. (I do believe those cherries make the whole cake fall into the 'fruit' category!)

Guess I should have added a KEYBOARD DROOL WARNING to this challenge, ladies!!!

Wowzers to you cake decorators!!! I just don't do much baking - I'm with PJill!!! Takes too long, just eat the batter.

Ina & Craftygirl - that little Wilton Fondue pot was the best $20 I spent over the holidays!!! We took it with us to all the parties and it was the biggest hit!!! Why didn't we get one sooner? I keep saying we're going to do cheese in it next but we're having too much fun with the chocolate!

Pam, no filter used (I don't even have any yet!) but if you bring that lovely dessert over we can talk all about it....

Thanks for the compliments ladies. It has been so fantastic to make my kids' and other family members birthday cakes. I love being able to create so much to make their parties very special.

More samples here: (not all of them are worthy of the label "photography" but they are visual images of cakes.)

Everything here looks so yummy! I don't bake at all. In fact, I don't cook at all (or eat much at all) because of a digestive problem (crohn's). My poor husband would be so jealous if he saw all this cooking taking place somewhere in the world. I will have to find a neat way to take a cool picture of my favorite sweet treat.... M&Ms!

Lisa and Diana, great cakes, I made them years ago and it was always fun coming up with birthday themes.

Deborah your cake looks good too and I sure like the cake dish!

Pam, you sure took some great photos.

My favorite is Angie's strawberries and choclolate...looks yummy!

Mine is my lunch dessert, strawberry custard pie and DH made it! He saw strawberries were on sale and had to have it!
He could not believe I was going to take a photo of it!

Thanks Pam. The wheels are just store bought mini donuts.

The chocolate goo cake with cherries is right up my alley. It looks awesome.

BTW: Have you guys ever watched Ace Of Cakes (on food network channel?) Check it out if you haven't. (It's not a cooking show - it's....it's...sort of reality TV with fun people?.....I don't know, it's just GREAT!!)

Also, if you are a cake fan with a sense of humor, you should look at the Cake Wrecks Blog The subtitle for the blog is "When professional cakes go horribly, hilariously wrong."

Lisa - your cakes are amazing - I especially LOVE the house on fire --clever and perfectly done!

I read this blog daily. At least 3 times a week, I'm laughing myself to tears and hubby asks "what's going on over there?" and of course I say, "Cake Wrecks." He's started peeking at it now too.

Ladies, your treats and cakes are awesome!

I am making DH's birthday cake this weekend. I asked him what he wanted and all he said was chocolate fondant. He said I could just do whatever else I wanted, as long as there is chocolate fondant. So I think I will use this as an opportunity to practice some of my skills. I haven't done a cake in a long time! Will take pics when I get it done.

Pam, I watch Ace Of Cakes every week! I love that show!

All of the photos of these yummy desserts have been awesome. Very tempting. I removed sweets from my house a couple of weeks ago. Dieting you know!! So when I saw this challenge I was like hmmmmm... what am I going to do. My son turned 13 on Tuesday. What he wanted instead of a cake was a keylime pie. He didn't miss a beat when I said, fine but I have to photograph it first. He had recieved a lazer flashlight for his birthday. He wanted to jazz up one of the photos. We set the setting on the camera to fireworks and he spun the lazer beam across the top of the cake. The last photo was the one he took. Roxie, your strawberries look scrumptious!!!!

SurfLola, your gooy treats look so good!

MariLynn, your whip cream looks much better than mine, I couldn't believe how white mine came out, your pie looks yummy! . The lazer trick looks pretty neat too.

Marilynn - that pie looks delish! I think the laser lights add the perfect final touch to a birthday pie! Love that shot and the fork one (Although I have to admit I wish I had a forkful of it myself!)
