Default Photo challenge #210 'Patterns and Designs' {March 24, 2015}

Photo challenge #210 Patterns and Designs in nature. Nature abounds in amazing and intricate patterns, if we but have eyes to see them. In a short 20 minute walk with the dog today, I took at least 10 photos. I will not be posting all of them, seeing as some of them are redundant. Have fun ladies and go outside and see what you can find.

Photo Challenge Rules:
~ Have FUN with this! There are no right or wrong photos.
~ Take as many pics as you want, share the few you like best.
~ Please share only current photos, taken after the challenge was issued.
~ We CANNOT upload our photos to the SCS galleries. You may upload them as an attachment or host them from your blog or any online photo hosting site. Just provide the direct link to the photo in your post and also make sure that it is not from a password protected album.
~ Just a reminder that we are a family-friendly site if you are sending others off this site to view photos in an album hosted elsewhere.
~ Please jump in and join us in the photo challenges at any time!
~ Again - HAVE FUN!

my photos: the first one is of salt deposits on the road, the next two are cool designs of the ice in the ditch along the side of the road, the last two are of the designs residual salt makes on the hardtop road. It's also the beginning of the breakdown of the road, due to alternate freezing and thawing in the winter, and even more so in the spring.

A mixed media that I've been working on, supposed to be sea and rocks!!
Thought it might be good pattern to start with.

What a great wide-open challenge, Ina. I took a few on the way to work this morning, now I just need to upload them.
My new computer has a card-reader, I made sure of that - but I had my pro camera with me this morning, and the non-standard card it takes doesn't fit my reader .

Lightbulb New image upload feature

Ladies - Lydia has announced a cool new feature down in the Site Suggestions section.
You can now insert an image into your post, rather than attaching it as a thumb.
To do this, click on the Insert Image icon (third in from the right, bottom row) when you're in the Advanced Reply mode. Instead of needing in image URL, you can now just navigate and select your image.
Her post is here: New Feature - Image Uploader for Forums on Mobile and Desktop

I think this will be great for here - I'll have to see if you can upload more than one at a time!

I was just testing the new feature that your were mentioning Sabrina, and I did have one more photo for this challenge anyway. It's the tree trunk of a spruce tree. The bark always has cool patterns.

Ha - a couple of photos I took are bark. Hope to get them onto the PC after work today . I like yours - especially with that whorl in it.

This great but are we supposed to resize them beforehand, I know I can chose the size when I send them by email but wouldn't know how to do it on my iPhone
Anyway I love the way the chop the palm tree leaves off

I know I love palms, I took the photo this morning on the sea front, many have died as they have big problems with weevils, it's killed hundreds, they are gradually taking them out and replacing them, I love how they shave the bottom half and make the diamond pattern higher up. They do it once a year, I will try to take a photo when they do it as last year a young man was climbing up the branches with a harness, just hanging there chopping them off. Many have them in their gardens but they grow higher than the villas.

Cool shot, Jan. When we were in Greece a few years back, we spent quite some time watching men trimming the palms with a cherry-picker, a bit more secure than a harness!!

I've been looking at designs - different patterns in leaves, spiral shapes and so on. But I'm afraid the only photos I have so far are the ones I took on the way to work the other day. Ripples (and a still patch) in the water, and two different tree barks.

Sabrina, all great photos! But the top one really resonates with me. A beautiful peaceful scene. I really enjoy seeing waterfowl.

I noticed the whorl pattern on this thistle the other day, but my hands were full. Yesterday I could hear that the level crossing for the train was closed, before I turned round the corner, so I paused to take the time to take a photo. Just as well, it was hailing heavily as I passed by on my return.

Lovely Sabrina. Things are greening up a lot faster in Ireland than they are here.
I took this one on Sunday morning when I went to start the card. Jack Frost had decorated my car windows beautifully. I took the photo from inside and you can see the sun shining through.

This was stones in my driveway.

This is the rug on my front porch.

This is the corn stalks left after harvest.

This is the shingles on DH's shed.

And this is branches from pear tree.

Ina, your frosty photo is beautiful.
Great shots, Kathy. I absolutely love the corn field one, my next favourite is the shingles.

A lot of trees round our area have been pruned severely, and some have been cut right back. Some, I think, were probably diseased, but I hadn't noticed anything wrong with this one except it was growing at a bit of an angle. Anyway, I was waiting ages for a day when it was dry enough to really show the patterning in the cross-section.

Just been catching up with all the great photos, funny how late your cherry blossom is, ours was over a couple of months ago.

Ina the frost on the car window was amazing, I always love the patterns it makes on glass and Sabrina, the fungus has great colours, I've seen something like it in England on tress before but never stopped to look at it closely.

Woo hoo, not boring Lynn. The cherry blossoms are beautiful and we often go to view them in High Park, but not this year. We are going to the Toronto Zoo today.
