Default Photo Challenge #206 'New'

It's a new year and our challenge for this fortnight will be to photograph anything new. Here's an opportunity to show off the gifts we received for Christmas, or anything else that fits the category 'new. We would like to welcome any new players, all of you who have been asking about photography. Here's your opportunity to bring out the camera and practise. We are all amateur photographers. As a matter of fact, I use a point and shoot camera for these challenges. But if you have a DSLR, please use it. The more you practise, the better you will get, and you don't have to spend any money on developing film like I used to do!

Photo Challenge Rules:
~ Have FUN with this! There are no right or wrong photos.
~ Take as many pics as you want, share the few you like best.
~ Please share only current photos, taken after the challenge was issued.
~ We CANNOT upload our photos to the SCS galleries. You may upload them as an attachment or host them from your blog or any online photo hosting site. Just provide the direct link to the photo in your post and also make sure that it is not from a password protected album.
~ Just a reminder that we are a family-friendly site if you are sending others off this site to view photos in an album hosted elsewhere.
~ You can jump in and start any of the photo challenges at anytime..
~ Again - HAVE FUN

First picture is of my new broom ( a gift from my daughter for Christmas), and also a new shovel, which I bought for myself. The second photo is of the new snow that fell overnight, and the third one is of a new book that I also received from my DD for Christmas.

Thanks so much for stepping in, Ina. I was able to get up and leave the house today for the first time in two weeks! So I think I'll be looking indoors for something "new" to photograph.

I'm so glad you are feeling better Sabrina. As you will see by this photo, I had a purpose for this challenge. A brand new baby..........my grandson, was born today at 8:28 a.m. weighing in at 8 pounds, 3 ounces.

Sharon, what a great gift! I've been meaning to buy myself a tablet for the past two years, but something more urgent always comes up. I just love the tablet my friend has. I'm sure you will enjoy it too. That book chair is way cool! Just like a miniature beach chair!

I was hoping we'd get to see your new grandchild, Ina . Congrtaulations.

I got DH a tablet for Christmas last year, he loves it and uses it all the time.
It's funny, though - he's been telling me for almost two years that I'd like one. And he was offering to get me one for Christmas last year. But having seen his, even with how much he uses it, I know I am happiest with my computer, and with the phone as something portable. I'd prefer a new laptop!!

Here are my new - my main present from DH this year was the full set of Derwent Inktense pencils, and since it was a present he splashed out on the extra for the wooden gift box. Which I love, because it has a retaining strip of wood that stops the pencils from falling out and getting out of order.
I got a lot of new decorations this year - someone sent me a beautiful set of carved wooden birds - a cardinal, bluejay and American goldfinch. They're already put away, but this little glass hedgehog is so sweet I thought I might keep him out all year.

Sabrina, rout hedgehog if so pretty, and I would keep him out all year.

And JFYI the deck chair was the new thing , I have had the iPad mini for
a couple of years. I was just showing you how it looked in its chair on my craft area. Yes, and no substitute for my laptop. My iPad is mostly for traveling or like now, before laptop turned on for the day. My iPad has a kindle ap and lots of books and an Olive Tree ap with several Bible translations on it. Well, anyway, like both laptop and iPad mini.

I'm sorry to be so behind on this, but I don't have a blog or put my pictures in a place that I can link to for them to show here. How can I upload them as attachments to my post? I can't figure it out.

Thanks for helping.

Make sure you are in Advanced Reply options, not just Post Quick Reply.
Then you'll see a row of icons above the text input box. Simply click on the paperclip icon and follow the instructions.
Just make sure your image isn't too big, about 1200 pixels for the larger dimension and you should be fine.
Alternatively, still in Advanced Reply, scroll down the screen and click on Manage Attachments.
Hope that helps!

My new items for Christmas were a dishwasher (that I had to install because Home Depot is a Home Despot). It is pretty though.

I also got Mr. Right. My sister sent him. He might be the best present yet.

And a new camera that takes great pictures all by itself. But it couldn't take it's own picture.

Thanks Joyce Ann. I think so too. He sleeps well and drinks well, but I was left alone with him and his 14 month old sister on Tuesday and when he started to cry my granddaughter started to cry too, she is so empathetic. What do you do, when both cry? Good thing parents came home in about 10 minutes.

Sabrina, so wonderful you got the inktense pencils. I've seen so many great results with them. I agree with Sharon that you should leave the hedgehog out all year. Janet, You must be a very handy woman to be able to install a dishwasher yourself. I don't think the perfect man was any help either was he?

Actually, he did not criticize how I installed it, he didn’t try to take over the project, and made no comment on how long it took to get it done… he smiled at me through the whole ordeal. He was Mr. Perfect!
