Default Photo Challenge #200 Brush Up Your Grammar

I am very sorry for being so tardy in posting this - it should have been a July challenge, and I did actually take the photos in July.
As Ina and I are both finding it harder to always come up with fresh ideas, we think that we will probably re-visit some of the older challenges if we're having difficulty coming up with a new one, and maybe add a twist to them. I hope that will help me stay more timely in posting - and setting a reminder in my calendar might help too!

I hope this is something you can all find a photo for - even if it's only a badly translated instruction manual. We are looking for bad grammar in any shape or form. I wish I were in Greece, I know I'd find it all over the place there. What's Spain like in that regard, Jan?

My two photos, it's a bit ironic because they are the painted windows in an after-school homework club so you'd think they might have tried harder with their apostrophes!!

Photo Challenge Rules:
~ Have FUN with this! There are no right or wrong photos.
~ Take as many pics as you want, share the few you like best.
~ Please share only current photos, taken after the challenge was issued.
~ We CANNOT upload our photos to the SCS galleries. You may upload them as an attachment or host them from your blog or any online photo hosting site. Just provide the direct link to the photo in your post and also make sure that it is not from a password protected album.
~ Just a reminder that we are a family-friendly site if you are sending others off this site to view photos in an album hosted elsewhere.
~ Please jump in and join us in the photo challenges at any time!
~ HAVE FUN

Sabrina, I got a new camera a week or so ago and think I'd like to play! Any special rules or just take some photos according to the theme posted?

And how long does one challenge run? One week, one month???

Kathy, you can join at any time, and a photo challenge never expires, so check some of the older challenges and see if you want to do them. I'd love to see your photos.
Sabrina, I will start looking. It may take a few days.

Ditto what Ina said. I'm subbed to the forum so I get a daily notification if any of the older threads are posted to. There's a stickied master list of all the challenges at the top of the forum, with clickable links. It's almost fully up to date.
The only request is that you take a photo inspired by the challenges, rather than uploading an older photo that fits. Of course you are free to share other photos too, just start a thread .
Enjoy your new camera!! My good DSLR is quite heavy to carry round all the time, so my daily camera is a smaller and lighter Canon bridge camera.

Oh my I never thought of that! My tablet has a mind of its own and it actually changes words that I want to something I don't! It always turns like to lime!

Ladies, that's not called bad grammar, they are called typos and we are all guilty of them.

Took this picture with cellphone so it isn't great. DS bought his dad some relish but apparently they spell vinegar differently in Vermont! I'm adding a picture of the carrot mom pulled from her garden. Hilarious conversation piece! Just noticed they spell tomatoes differently too!

Perfect, Kathy. I need to go more into the city centre to find some, I think. The menu boards outside restaurants in Greece can be hilarious.

The auto spell-check / word suggestion can give some very odd results, for sure. What type of tablet do you use? I don't know the first thing about iPads, but if it's Android I know you can turn on for it to learn from your usage - so that by now DH's usually offers things that really work for me. And you can delete words you'll never use, too, if it keeps offering you something totally off the wall.

Today is card class day at demo friends house! It's been a long time since we've had a class day. It should be fun to get away for a while. My tablet is a Mototola android.

Hmm - I've checked, and mine is Samsung and the settings for predictive text based on your personal use are found like this:
When you're at the stage of inputting text (like typing here) I have a little gear-wheel icon for settings on the keypad, beside the space bar.
This is where it might not work for you, but you could check!
If I press that gear, it opens up Samsung Keyboard Settings, and presumable Motorola have something similar.
I have Predictive Text on, but when I tap the actually Predictive Text wording it opens up another dialogue box.
Top of that list is Personalised Data (use the personalised language data you have entered to make the prediction result better). I have checked that, and it made a big difference.
There are also settings for it to learn from Facebook and Gmail, but I'm not on Facebook and I'm really not sure about doing the gmail thing either, so the only one I use is the Personalised Data.

I saw these on Tuesday, just getting a chance to upload now.
The Caffe may be artistic licence and meant to look Fancy and Foreign but it also looks wrong!!
The other one, it was the "tilling" that caught my eye. Of course if you live a "manor" you might need someone to do tilling for you, but I suspect that he's offering tiling in a professional manner.
And it was only when I was uploading it that I also spotted ALL enquires to...

I've seen so many business flyers/advertisements, etc. that have grammar and spelling mistakes lately and wonder who is proofreading for them! I even have two walk fit DVDs where she puts the word stabilize on the screen but spells it stabalize. I yell at the screen when I am exercising with either of those two DVDs!

We have some funny spelling translations on menu boards here, I'll see if I can find one, steve corrects the menu board at our local restaurant which makes me smile as he would be the first to admit to not being the worlds best at spelling

Default Wireless Keyboard

This is the back of the box of a wireless keyboard I bought for my iPad. Obviously, English was not the first language of the person that wrote this. Enjoy.

I thought it would be fun to play along as I am ALWAYS finding spelling mistakes which drives me bonkers! I am sharing a photo I snapped at a shopping centre about 12 miles from where I live. It was advertising a portable massager for your legs and feet. Hope you get a laugh like I did

These spelling oddities are good for some chuckles! I often find them on product boxes too, but currently I just can't seem to come up with any. Thanks for sharing Sylvia and Jocelyn!

Thanks for the smile, Jocelyn. I like deep massage, but I wouldn't go as far as seeking out an aching feeling!
