Arrow Photo Challenge #2 -Seeing Red (9-28-08)

First a huge thanks to everyone who shared their Summer's End photos with us! They were all fabulous! If you missed the first challege, you can still go back and play it at anytime.

For the next challenge - Seeing Red

This week get your camera's focused on something red, making it the main focal point of your shot. It can be anything -a red leaf, stopsign, a shoe, someone sticking out their tongue... just use your imagination and capture it with your camera! Can't wait to see what you all come up with. Post your best shot by Saturday. And we'll all give feedback. Then a different challenge will be posted on Sunday. If you need any help or have ?'s, just ask!

Things to remember:
~ Have FUN with this! There are no right or wrong photos.
~ It's ok if you take 100 pictures or just one, but pick the one or two that you think best represent the challenge to share with everyone, not all 100 though!
~ Share only current photos, taken after the challenge was issued.
~ Please share photos taken by you.
~ We CANNOT upload our photos to the SCS galleries. You may upload them as an attachment or host them from your blog or any online photo hosting site. Just provide the direct link to the photo in your post and also make sure that it is not from a password protected album.
~ Just a reminder that we are a family-friendly site if you are sending others off this site to view photos in an album hosted elsewhere.
~ You can jump and start the photo challenges at anytime.
~ Again - HAVE FUN!

Here's my example for you. I know this shot came out somewhat overexposed, but somehow compared to all the others I took, I liked the look of it best.

I like the shot you posted! It looks very soft. Thank you for doing these challenges. I really enjoyed the first one and it looks like you have sparked my interest in photography. It is always something I enjoyed and wanted to learn more about.

OK, now to find something red to take a picture of. Everything I have been shooting is green! Maybe I can get my DH to take me out and about tomorrow. I might be able to find something red!

Here is my submission for red:
It is a Red Velvet Sunflower, with a bee.
It was our first hard frost last week, and my DS and I were out really early in the morning to get the sheets off the pumpkin patch. The sunflowers looked so sad, and frozen in place. I went and got my camera and started snapping. When I got to this red one, I realized that there was a bumblebee on it, and he was also frozen, he had little frozen droplets on him!! It was like time had just frozen!

Here's mine..not all that exciting. But, my kids and I had a blast looking for red things around our neighborhood. I actually like how the sunset is in the back of this picture.

Great red shot! I love the sunset in the background too! This just wouldn't have been the same in the middle of the day.

I saw these red berries and loved how they looked with the little white flowers next to them. Thanks for the wonderful challenge.

Angie, Your rose looks so elegant. I like the angle of your shot.
Kerilou, I love your red velvet sunflower and your little frozen bee.
bgrant, Your sign with the sunset if fabulous. I love how you captured something so everyday and made it art.

Ladies, I really like all your pictures.
We have a nice mix going, a rose, sunflower and some berries.

Donna just pointed me over here. I've got a great idea for when I go home tonight. We just installed the coolest red lamps in the kitchen, so I'll play around and see if I can get a good shot of them. My Mom has been wanting to see what they look like so I've been needing to take a picture anyway.

DWQ - your rose photo is beautiful. I too, like the perspective.
Kerilou - you did a nice job showing the cold. I love the edges of your sunflower.
bgrant - I love this picture. Very nice composition with the sunset peeking out in the back corner
Marilynn - the contrast of green and white with the red berries is really wonderful. Your pic reminded me of the one I am posting. I like the white with yours.
Sapphine1968 - your first rose is really lovely. so delicate. The second is really interesting using the accent feature. What are you shooting with?
mholles - now that photo is really great. The lights are so sharp and clear. the background is soft and I think that makes the lights even more sharp.

This photo was taken in Short Hills, NJ a couple Christmases ago. No snow, but fog and rain and it was my SIL's holly tree. My MIL used this as her Christmas card and I made 50 of them for her.

I was browsing my photos and found another red one! This is from a few years ago, but it has always been a favorite. It actually landed like that, too...I didn't put that red one on the yellow ones!!

Just wanted to add how much I love everyone's red submissions! They are all wonderful. I love the berries, the flowers, the sign, the lights, the rooster, everything! It is so fun to look at them!!
I really like this challenge!!

While out walking today ((looking for something red.... )) I came across this dragonfly?? and it happen to have some red on it. It was sunning itself. You have to look close for it really blends well on the wooden post it was on.

Thanks for looking....
