Default Photo challenge 196~ Marvellous M {04/18/2014}

Sorry for the late posting of this, and for not formatting the challenge properly. I had something else in mind and started taking photos on the way to work on Tuesday - only to discover my spare battery was just about flat and died after two photos. We're away at the moment and I didn't get WiFi sorted out till this morning. I also can't find the list I was sure I had in my phone of the various letters we've used for alphabet challenges but I'm fairly sure we haven't yet done 'M'. So whether it's mangoes or melons, museums or 'me', how about finding things that start with M. I'll attach a couple pf photos next week when I'm back home.

I just noticed this posting! But seeing as no one else has posted and you are still away, I am still first! I didn't have to go very far to get photos for this challenge.........my own yard. The first picture is of moss growing on some old firewood right behind my house. It will be cleaned up this summer, along with all the other mess in my backyard. Second and third photos are of a flowerbed I am turning back to lawn, which has lots of weeks and some perennials left in it, the other photo of the mess right beside my back door. The last photo is a little more pleasant....the little mauve flowers, which are the first to bloom in my garden this spring.

Love the moss photo - it's always so photogenic. That one reminds me of a book I got my BIL of photos of Japanese gardens!!
I like your abstract take on M for Mess - sounds like a lot of work turning the bed back to lawn!! Are those little flowers scilla, they look a bit like it, and I know they're one of the early flowerers here.
I'll try to get a few M photos sorted and uploaded tomorrow - still playing catch-up with other things today, but at the very least I want to get my holiday photos onto the PC and backed up also onto my external drive tonight, so that's a good start to getting a few attached tomorrow .

Yes, I think those little mauve flowers might be scilla.
I've been wanting to share the following photo since I took it on April 13. Then it occurred to me today that it is a photo of a mill that has been converted into an inn and it is still called the Elora Mill. I was driving to my daughter's on one of the first warm days and the river water was coming from the lake that still had ice on it, so the warm air + cold water created a mist. I had just enough time to stop and take a few photos!

Aha - I could see on the card you sent me that it was an inn, but with all the water round it I was trying to figure that out! The second photo helps explain that .

Not working today, so once I've done the shopping I'll be along with some of my own M photos...

OK - I've taken some time to look through my photos from last week - most of these were specially taken with M in mind .

The underground system in Paris is the Metro, short for Metropolitain.
There are still some of the older Art Nouveau style entrances in some places - here we have the one nearest us, and the modern M on the other side of the road, plus another one at Parc Monceau.
Inside Monceau is a monument to a musician (Chopin). DH was tickled by the dramatic pose of the lady in this - you can see from the photo of him in the metro entrance that he's a bit of a drama king himself .
And two different mosaics...

On one of our walks I spotted some mirrors in a bathroom-fitting shop, and was fascinated by the reflections in them.
Moss, on the roof of a kiosk along the Champs Elysees.
Montparnasse Tower in the background, Montparnasse cemetery in the foreground, and the older building sort of in the centre is an old mill.
Monet's garden, seen from the house.
And an old mill in Giverny.

Wow Sabrina, these are all beautiful and thought provoking! The reflections were intriguing in deed and the mill photo is quite a beautiful scene for sure.

Y'all have such nice photos; mine are a bit mundane. Mountains, magazines, maps and a Luna moth.

Audrey, these photos are all simply marvellous! I always love seeing all your fabulous scenery. I think my favourite of the scenery photos is the first one, with the saguaro and mountains in the background. A luna moth.....wow! You are so lucky to have seen one in real life....are they common in your area?

Ina, the luna moth was at the Botanical Garden's spring butterfly exhibit and that was the only time I saw it.

I'm sorry for not commenting on these earlier - I did look at them and made a Mental note that I don't think Maps are Mundane at all .And like Ina, I loved the moth too.
