Default Photo Challenge 193 'Portrait' {February 25, 2014}

Photo challenge 193 'Portrait'. I use a point and shoot Nikon Coolpix camera for all the photo challenges here. As a matter of fact, I use it for most of my photography, as it is nice and compact and takes lovely pictures as long as I don't need a lens. I carry it in my purse all the time. While looking at the menu this week, I was drawn to an icon that said 'portrait'. It puts a box around any faces and focuses on them. I decided to start experimenting with it yesterday on a visit with my youngest grandson. These photos are not great, but I will continue to practise this week.

Photo Challenge Rules:
~ Have FUN with this! There are no right or wrong photos.
~ Take as many pics as you want, share the few you like best.
~ Please share only current photos, taken after the challenge was issued.
~ We CANNOT upload our photos to the SCS galleries. You may upload them as an attachment or host them from your blog or any online photo hosting site. Just provide the direct link to the photo in your post and also make sure that it is not from a password protected album.
~ Just a reminder that we are a family-friendly site if you are sending others off this site to view photos in an album hosted elsewhere.
~ Please jump in and join us in the photo challenges at any time!

Oh such sweet photos of your darling Ina! I am on my3rd Coolpix. As soon as the P100 came out I knew I would love it and I do. Because I have always enjoyed macro photography, that has always been a priority in a camera choice. After getting involved in Splitcoast a macro setting became essential for uploads too. Last year I came across a really good deal on a water camera at BJ's and it is smaller so I now take that one in my purse everywhere. I even made a little camera case out of Stampin' Up! fabric for it.
Anyway, enough rambling, I am sure to think about portraits on Fri and Sat as I Shop Hop!

So sorry for not joining in this one, Ina. I am very much NOT a person photographer. I'd hoped to get a chance while I was down with my sister and her husband, but I just didn't make it .
Once only I can remember asking a relative stranger if I could take his photo!

I know what you mean! I travelled for 8 1/2 hours to a wedding on the weekend with three other ladies, and as soon as I lifted the camera, they all looked the other way and held their hands in front of their faces!

Aw, Sabrina, you can at least take a "selfie" like I did! - doesn't have to be a quality portrait for you to play.

Lynn, this is a lovely collage! Beautiful clear photos. Were they taken at the new aquarium in Toronto? I haven't visited yet.

Love the pictures....great exposure in backlight situation

The aquarium is great...a must see...prudent to book in advance as there has been tons of visitors... He had a great time...I am hoping to get there when my friend visits....there were some issues taking pictures as the glass is curved but this have you better access to see

The dog photo is brilliant, Ina. My sister's and my aunt's dogs are all dark, makes it hard to get a good photo of them. I love the way its head is resting on the carpet.
And I only clicked like because I'm tired and life is busy, but your "self portrait" made me giggle, Lynn.
