Does the winter weather feel like it's been around forever? And like it's just going to continue dragging on and on? It may be giving you the 'blues' but let's see if we can turn that around into something interesting by looking at it with a new perspective. How can you make the dead of winter seem more exciting and well, alive! Maybe you can find something that seems lonely and give it a new spin. Maybe it's just a dead leaf, a frozen pond, or a snow covered bush - whatever it is - Show us your perked-up 'Winter Blues'!
ETA: This isn't a challenge to find blue colored things!

Fun challenge Angie! It's still in the 50's and 60's here so it doesn't feel like winter, but let me see if I can capture a New Mexico winter in photos.
I love your photos btw, ecspecially the photo of the icicles on the bench! Gorgeous!

Wow you must have ESP. I was just outside shoveling and snowblowing for the last two hours. Then I figured a picture of the house would be a great pic for my Project 365 Photo of the day. So here is my Winter Blues. I'm tired of the snow but it can be beautiful.
Diana, your photos make me miss home. This is our first winter in a place where it doesn't snow and I actually miss the snow. O.k. so I could never miss the 2+ hours of shoveling but I miss the snow.

I love winter. The colder it is the happier I am. However, last week our negative temps disappeared when a Pineapple Express shot up here from Hawaii. Our temps soared into the mid-40's and rain wiped out the 3+ ft of snow I had in the yard. I cant wait for colder temps and more snow.
The first 2 were taken the day before the rain arrived. One is a field right down the road, where we sometimes see moose grazing. Next is the eaves above the dryer vent and then the last picture is when the rain moved in--we got freezing rain first and when we headed out to the store the roads were covered with ice and slush.

Wow, you must be a hearty person. We had -4 last week and I was ready to pack my bags and head south.
I have to say your third picture is eerily stunning. I love storm clouds/skies. great pictures.

I like the one you took of the field.
Your cold air came my way and I am glad to say it didn't stay.
great pictures everyone! Nice to see there can be some sunshine along with snow - not here though, it has snowed at least part of every day for the last 2 weeks
I am submitting something that is very alive, a sharp shinned hawk with breakfast. Every winter one or more comes in from the country to get the easy pickin's at my feeders
Angie, great challenge. I, too, love the sepia tone. It seems to fit the picture perfectly.
Connie, I bet that field is gorgeous in the summer.
Diana, I'm diggin' the lawnchairs. It makes me chuckle but I somehow feel the promise of Spring under it all. You also have a lovely house.
Lisa, the 2nd picture of where the dryer vent is looks FREEZING!!! It must be weird to have that up and down of temps.
Joann, that hawk is amazing - awesome photo.
I took these this morning. We live too close to the ocean to get much snow but last night we had a powdery inch or two. Good for shovelling and skiing but not so good for snowmen.

Joann, I love how your hawk photo turned out. His feathers are gorgeous.

I like the repetitive nature of your third photo. The swing with snow on it is interesting too.

Thanks... Can you believe we have two bbq grills out there too and yup one in beside the chairs.. good grief. I guess that is what I get for listening to dh (he said he would put them in the storage, HA).
Your photos look great. I love the perspective on the fencing.
For you ladies who actually get snow and also scrapbook...
(I live in Texas so our "snow" is a couple of inches once a year).
Be sure to use the blank canvas to your scrapbooking advantage.
I've used this on a few scrapbooking pages and as the beginning of a summary video for the year.
And I need to share a funny on my son who was 3 at the time of this snow last year. The neighbors built a 4 foot tall snow man in their yard, complete with scarf, gloves, stick arms, etc. My kids were sleeping while they built it, so when they got up, they bundled up and we went to check it out. The poor kid had never seen snow before and had never seen a "real" snowman. So as we approached, he freaked out! He said he didn't want to get any closer. I couldn't figure out why he wanted to stand in a freezing puddle on the street instead of standing next to the snowman for a picture. He asked, "will it move?" Poor kid thought it was alive. That's ok, he'll be 10 before we have enough snow here again to build a tall snow man like that.
I went out and got some really neat photos to share with you gals, at least I think they are neat.
Here are the first 3. The first photo was taken at the steel casting plant next to my office. There is a pipe that has steam that comes out of the building. When it hits this little bush it turns to ice. I tried to capture the steam coming up off the ground, because steam and ice seemed like a neat combo for a photo. The second photo were some little flower stems in a flower bed next to where I drop my fedex packages everyday. The third was a little tree up on a hill next to the road.
The best thing about where I live is the bald eagles that come every winter to fish on the Mississippi river. Here are some of the eagles that I saw today.

And yes that is 7 bald eagles in the third photo.
MariLynn, these eagle pictures are awesome. I've only ever seen one or two of them. They are truely majestic. When we have big birds roosting in trees around here, they're usually turkey vultures - YUK! We have lots of hawks around but you only ever see one at a time roosting.
