Default Photo Challenge #172A ~ Masts and Aerials {03/05/2013}

Masts and aerials! Before the days of satellite dishes (they count too for the challenge!) almost every house had a large TV aerial attached. There's still one down the road from here and the birds love to perch on it - but it had turned so grey by the time I got home that it wasn't worth getting off the bus a couple of stops early. Now it's all mobile phone masts and so on...another picture I have to try to get on Thursday when I'm off.
I've seen some disguised as trees - along the motorway and in the park.
Of course cars have aerials too - especially taxis which might have two or three! This post office delivery van has two.
Apart from the boat masts, all these were taken this morning on the way to work, so I hope that other people find it easy enough to find some masts and aerials!

This will be a challenge Sabrina, when I only have one arm to work with! But I'll be able to get a car aerial for sure. I love that photo of the yacht masts! A great shot!

I fell downhill skiing on Feb. 25. I dislocated my left shoulder and fractured the top of the humerus bone. I am so blessed that the fracture is stable and I don't need surgery. I started physiotherapy yesterday....just gentle exercises for now. I have limited use of that arm, but am so lucky that I am right handed. I can't drive, so am dependant on my neighbours and friends, and they have all been wonderful.

I'm trying to get back into hiking and took these yesterday. These, I believe, are various types of communication antennas. I hope to get a couple more different ones tomorrow.

Great shots Audrey! Those are definitely communication antennas! Great minds think alike. I just took some photos today. Hard to do, because I have to point the camera up, and it's really hard to hold the camera and take a shot at the same time.
Photo number one is my own aerial, the second one is the house beside me and the third is the house kitty corner from mine. The big aerials are still from our televisions from years ago, and the internet installation is the little square lower on the aerial.

O.K. I turned the photos on my computer, but they seem to come out in the original mode....how do I change it? I don't have a photo editing program on my computer.

Will your camera let you rotate them and save them that way? I'm pretty sure mine does.If you want a VERY small footprint program, Irfanview is brilliant for basic editing. It's what I instructed my dad in, and it's what's on my aunt's computer here too. Great shots, though - I really like the second one.
And I love yours, Armadillo - so funny for me to see the hillside with cactuses.

I took a couple yesterday - but I forgot to bring my USB cable when I was packing, so I won't be able to upload them till next week.

we're minding my aunt's dogs for a week. Monday is a holiday day because of St. Patrick's falling on Sunday, so DH took yesterday off too, and we're having a real holiday weekend. It will be a bit of a trek getting home from work on Tuesday, mind you!
We went to a nearby reserve yesterday and saw our first shoveler ducks.

picasa is free and Google has a free editing program. I took this yesterday morning. I really don't know if this is for a private residence or possibly a sheriff/police department. It looks rather like an old fashioned type television antenna but this one is humongous and on the ground.

I missed this - I must have slipped up with checking notifications while we were out at my aunt's. Amazing sky, and I love the curves in the aerial.

Here are two I took while we were at my aunt's, and two I took in town.
There's a police HQ in the Dublin Castle complexm so that's possibly what the second photo is.
