Default Photo challenge 143 'Handcrafted gifts' {Nov. 8/11}

Photo challenge 143.....hand crafted gifts. You can tell we are gearing up for Christmas, when we have wraps, and gifts in our challenges! I'm sure we have all received hand crafted gifts at one time or another, or maybe your family only exchanges hand crafted gifts. I would like to see photos of gifts that are hand made by the person who gave them to you, or gifts you have made for someone else. Anything goes....jellies and jams, baking, sewing, carpentry....the list goes on and on!
Photo Challenge Rules:
~ Have FUN with this! There are no right or wrong photos.
~ Take as many pics as you want, share the few you like best.
~ Please share only current photos, taken after the challenge was issued.
~ We CANNOT upload our photos to the SCS galleries. You may upload them as an attachment or host them from your blog or any online photo hosting site. Just provide the direct link to the photo in your post and also make sure that it is not from a password protected album.
~ Just a reminder that we are a family-friendly site if you are sending others off this site to view photos in an album hosted elsewhere.
~ You can jump in and start any of the photo challenges at any time..
~ Again - HAVE FUN
My photos.....the first one is of a bowl that my sister-in-law made. She started learning how to work with clay several years ago, but since she retired last year, she has really been perfecting her craft and is becoming an accomplished potter (as well as sewing, knitting, gardening and photography)
Second photo is of a hat I crocheted for a colleague who's birthday is in December.
The third picture is of a scarf I crocheted for my daughter last week.........by the way, she loves it!

That bowl is certainly lovely!
And the hat - I've just got my ear-flap hat down this last week.
I'm just about to post off a little knitted jacket, so I can take a picture of that, and I know I have some things my dad has made me. Cool challenge, Ina.

OK, here's a quick collection.
The little wooden hedgehog in the coconut shell pram was a 5th birthday present from my dad - it was waiting when I got home from hospital after having my tonsils out. It definitely needs some TLC, on looking at it.

The knitted teddybear nightdress case was a present from my mother about 15 years ago or so. She even knit the lace .

The seahorse was also from my dad, about 10 -12 years ago, before he gave up on being creative . I wish he'd make things for the grandkids like he made for us.

Jam from my sister - she always gives it to us at Christmas. She doesn't actually make it herself, she gets it from a friend, but she designs the labels for her.

I just finished this little jacket with detachable hood to send to a pen-friend in NJ for her recently arrived granddaughter.

Sabrina, what an amazing array of handcrafted gifts. I love the seahorse your father made.......is it carved from wood? And the jacket you knit is gorgeous! That was a lot of work, as I see the intricate pattern and the fine yarn you used.......awesome! I'm glad I posted this challenge, if only to see those items! Thanks for sharing!

It's clay, actually. For a while he had a kiln, but he gave it away last year as he hasn't really used it since mum died. I do remember that he used some shoe polishes to buff it up a bit as well as whatever glazes were on it for the firing. The stone it's mounted on came from their local beach.

Ina, those are quite lovely gifts. Sabrina, you also have some very lovely gifts. I especially like the hedgehog your father made and that bear is so adorable. The little jacket and the colors you used is beautiful. I don't exchange or give gifts anymore but I do have some old stuff that I will photograph.

Well, lazy me has finally photographed some handmade gifts! The sweatshirt insert was knitted by my sister. My sister also crochet the penguins. She used to be a grade school teacher and she made them at Christmas for all her students. The other item was made by a friend as a thank-you.

This is a small sampling of the ornaments I used to make for family and friends and people at work. I also made numerous macrame Santas that I gave to family and friends.

Aren't you the creative family! I love the jumper inset - reminds me of a sleeveless top I knit for a friend - but it only had the cacti, not the coyotes. I especially love the little penguins and your Santas - the macramé one but also the little teddy bear.

Audrey, you have made some amazing decorations! What a lot of work! The penguins are cute too....can't believe she knit enough for her whole class! Ah, the macrame! I remember doing macrame back in the 'hippy' days!~

A couple more from me - both old, though.
The crown was a Christmas present from my dad when I was about 5 or 6.
The embroidery is one I made for DH because he complained that I was always giving my embroideries away, so I made this one without him seeing it.

Wow Sabrina! That's a beautiful crown your father made you....you must have been his little princess! I really commend you for still having this wonderful keepsake. I don't have anything from my childhood days.
The embroidery you made is beautiful too....such pretty flowers.
