Default Photo Challenge #141 -{9/11/11}The Golden Hour

Photo challenge #141 - 'The Golden hour'. We've had a week of unprecidented gorgeous weather.....sunshine and warmth. Yesterday we had a record breaker at 27 degrees C. But the days are getting shorter, and I've had opportunity to do some photography in the evening during the last hour of sunshine, when everything has that wonderful warm glow. The first and last hour of sunshine gives us a wonderful chance to take lovely pictures. I'm hoping for sunny days in the next two weeks so we can all go out and do some shooting during those times of the day.
Photo Challenge Rules:
~ Have FUN with this! There are no right or wrong photos.
~ Take as many pics as you want, share the few you like best.
~ Please share only current photos, taken after the challenge was issued.
~ We CANNOT upload our photos to the SCS galleries. You may upload them as an attachment or host them from your blog or any online photo hosting site. Just provide the direct link to the photo in your post and also make sure that it is not from a password protected album.
~ Just a reminder that we are a family-friendly site if you are sending others off this site to view photos in an album hosted elsewhere.
~ You can jump in and start any of the photo challenges at any time..
~ Again - HAVE FUN
My pictures:1. a goldenrod that is past it's prime, but still shows a beautiful yellow color in the evening light. 2. A new apartment building in town. 3. The new Catholic church in town (the light in the window is the reflection of the sun)

Ha - you should see the weather forecast here. Grey cloud, white cloud, light rain, scattered showers...But if we get a glimpse of sunshine in the evening I'll be all ready and waiting .
Those certainly are lovely shots - the one of your friend and her daughter really captures the evening feel, and I like the one with the church a lot too.

I got this last night when I was taking a moon rise and sunset. This is the sun setting which gives the color on the Saguaro and the rest of the foreground and the moon rising.

Yes! That's what I am wanting to see....that warm glow. I always love your saguaro photos, this one included and love the pink along the horizon.
Sabrina, hopefully you will have some sunshine in the next week or so. We have been so blessed with wonderful weather this past week, but I know the rain will come either tomorrow or the next day and then much cooler.

I think this qualifies for last light. I took it last night while waiting for the day after full moonrise. The green is lens flare unfortunately.

Ah, but the rim-lit undergrowth makes up for the flare .
I did it, I got a picture last night, although it meant rushing out just when I was about to start dinner. We had a sunny day!!
But I was so busy trying to work out why, when I restored my photo folder from my backup to my newly-formatted hard drive, it was missing 2GB data, about 300 photos, that I forgot to come here and post it. I'll be back after work...

This berried bush is in our neighbours garden.
Just a pity that the real evening glow wasn't shining on the lovely bunch of flowers DH brought on Monday - they're all orange autumn colours, but short of bringing them outside I couldn't position them in that golden glow during the brief period that it lasted.

Default My golden hour

Here is my take on this requirement.

This the sun set from the hill just above my home. And I just noticed that my camera time need to be updated to pm. Will have to see how to do this as it is a new canon D1100 so still learning all the ropes so to say.

Great sunset shot. Enjoy your new camera.
I remember my aunt taking a great photo of heavy mist and clouds all over the end of her garden a couple of years back, but she was totally puzzled by the time the picture said it had been taken - till I reminded her she'd bought the camera in Australia and it was probably still on Australian time.

Great photos so far!
Audrey, I absolutely love the halos around the cacti! Wonderful!
Sabrina, that is a lovely warm glow on the plants and berries.
Maria, what a wonderful sunset shot......the beautiful warm glow of the setting sun and the amazing clouds!
Last evening we were driving home after a card making swap/gathering and in the dark sky (it had been raining all day and it was getting dark) there was a small window of peach color. As we got further west, it got larger, and we said to each other that it was the light of Canada welcoming us home. Sad to say, I did not get a photo, as we were driving fast and in a hurry to get home.

Photos taken in my yard here in Beautiful British Columbia! Taken with a 50mm fixed lens at 2.8 (the sweet spot of my lens).
*Ladybugs that have invaded our yard (we are up the mountain from farm land that bring these fabulous insects in for crops)
*Foliage at the fence near our hot tub, it is so pretty to look at!
*At the bottom....the season is ending for our trampoline, it is covered with leaves and helicopter twigs.

****I also noticed the time in my camera is off....gotta go in and fix that******

Beautiful autumn montage. I don't know if I saw even one ladybird in our garden this year, I envy you. And the leaves are a fabulous colour.
We did have some late afternoon sunshine yesterday but I have a bad headcold and didn't feel up to going out looking for something.

Oooh, I'm enjoying all the sun and sunlit photos so far. I've been traveling for the last 8 days and was having a hard time catching sunrise/sets. We were either in the bus, at a restaurant, or sleeping. I did manage to get a few shots that I think are worth sharing. As soon as I find them among the 685 photos that I took, I'll upload them.

Ina, I liked the goldenrod and the sun in the church window.
Armadillo - the backlit cacti are fantastic!
Maria - Beautiful! That's the kind of shot I was looking for, but we never had very many clouds.

Smile Twlight photos

What beautiful photos you have all taken. I just love the soft look of the buildings in the setting sun's glow. Beautiful pics from BC. I have taken some photos recently. I will search through them and post one or two. I belong to a local camera club and I am learning my new canon camera. Thanks for sharing!

Lovely photo, I visited Tucson AZ last December and just loved watching the sun set on the Saguaro's. They are fantastic!
