Default Photo Challenge #133- Feeling Flashy (6-27-11)

Photo challenge # 133 Feeling Flashy.
The challenge this week is to take pictures of people outside with a flash. Lots of us only think the flash is for indoors. However, using a flash outside helps remove shadows from the face. This is called fill flash, try it and see. Canít wait to see your pictures

Photo Challenge Rules:
~ Have FUN with this! There are no right or wrong photos.
~ Take as many pics as you want, share the few you like best.
~ Please share only current photos, taken after the challenge was issued.
~ We CANNOT upload our photos to the SCS galleries. You may upload them as an attachment or host them from your blog or any online photo hosting site. Just provide the direct link to the photo in your post and also make sure that it is not from a password protected album.
~ Just a reminder that we are a family-friendly site if you are sending others off this site to view photos in an album hosted elsewhere.
~ You can jump in and start any of the photo challenges at anytime..
~ Again -
HAVE FUN

My pictures: All of these pictures were taken last week. This is my best friendís little girl. I have been taking pictures of her every time I want to try something new with my camera settings. She is such a cutie and very photogenic. All of these were taken outside with the flash.

Double challenge for me - I am no good at taking people photos. I'll do my best. Maybe I can rope DH in again - he volunteered for Ina's flash/no-flash challenge.
I often use fill-in flash outdoors for natural photography.
Thanks for this.

I know what you mean. My husband refuses to let me take pictures of him so at least you have a willing subject. I normally call up my friend and schedule a day for pictures. People aren't my strong point either. I like taking pictures of bugs and flowers much better. But I'm practicing with people pictures and I'm getting a little better.

Michelle, your friend's little girl is indeed photogenic! Well, I'll have to take my camera out with me today (as if it's not always in my purse!) and see what I can come up with.

I made it - at last.
We were up in the North over the weekend as DH was singing at a small concert to launch a CD he made with a group up there.
These were taken at some stage during the rehearsal for the concert - after the piper had arrived . He was all dressed up because he'd been judging a competition and had come straight on over from that.

Yippie! I was beginning to wonder if anyone was going to take me up on this challenge. Could you tell a difference using the flash outside? I did find I had to use a filter on my flash so it wasn't too bright but I have a speedlite. I can really tell a difference now so I put the flash on the camera all the time. Your pics look good. Glad you were able to take some pics for the challenge.

I think there is a difference - but it would have helped if I'd remembered to pack my lens hood - there was some bokeh in a couple of them.
I tried to get DH to cooperate in another photo tonight, but by the time we'd got something that would satisfy the stringent requirements of a passport photo he was losing patience fast.
When I use the built-in flash, which I often do, I dial it down to 1/64 or 1/16 power. And with an external flash I'd tend to cut it back by anything from 2 - 3 stops.

i love taking pics of my students, but i've often found on sunny days their faces are quite dark (especially with their darker skin). i was quite excited to try this challenge to see if it would help, and it did! thanks!!
sorry i got a little carried away and had to choose my top 5. the first three were taken during our 'science' walk, looking for leaves. the last two are actually students my friend's class that i caught 'wandering' during class time.

I really like the angle in the second one, and the evident fun that they're having with their leaves.

Maria, I am so enjoying your photos! Your DD is beautiful! I love the cat photo the best, I think, but the dog is cool too and it's always great to have a photo of the family together!

I like the cat one too! People portraits are hard enough, but animal ones are even harder IMO.

I'm glad the flash was able to help take better pictures of your students. I love to use the flash in daylight because it also helps get rid of raccoon eyes. Here are a few pictures of my brother's family last weekend.

Raccoon eyes, LOL!!
The second shot is my favourite - love the matching colours in her hairband and top, and the dandelion clock.
