Photo Challenge #130 ~ 2 out of 3 ain't bad {06/07/2011}
Two primaries, that is . Look for something that has at least two primary colours in it, bonus points for all three. I took most of my photos for this last week in town, but at the weekend my aunt gave me a cutting from her Parrot Impatiens. Hmm - it would have been easier to take a good photo before I potted it up.
Photo Challenge Rules:
~ Have FUN with this! There are no right or wrong photos.
~ Take as many pics as you want, share the few you like best.
~ Please share only current photos, taken after the challenge was issued.
~ We CANNOT upload our photos to the SCS galleries. You may upload them as an attachment or host them from your blog or any online photo hosting site. Just provide the direct link to the photo in your post and also make sure that it is not from a password protected album.
~ Just a reminder that we are a family-friendly site if you are sending others off this site to view photos in an album hosted elsewhere.
~ You can jump in and start any of the photo challenges at anytime..
~ Again - HAVE FUN
Last day of school tomorrow!! Anyways this school year I have been going in to my son's 2nd grade class each Tuesday morning and helping out anyway the teacher needed me too. To thank me for my willingness to come in, she gave me a Fire Glow Calla Lily which just happens to fit the challenge! This will be planted at our new house when we move in next week!
O.K. let me get this straight.....the three primary colors are red, yellow and blue? You can tell it's been a long time since I attended primary school!
The photos are all great, but I love that parrot impatiens. I've never seen anything like that. Love your callas too Amber. Good luck with your move.

In terms of pure physics it's red, green and blue if you're working with light, or cyan, magenta and yellow for printing processes but yes, my idea was red, blue and yellow as being the old-fashioned traditional model.
Lovely lilies. I hope the move goes smoothly for you, Amber. A lot of work!!

I only see one real primary colour , but I'm certainly glad to see that fabulous photo. That bug really looks as if he's walking right towards the camera with the angled stem.

I was thinking green was a color too but I guess not. Oh well, I'll try again.

You know, I think it depends on what you look at. When I googled Primary colors to see what they were, some were showing red/blue/yellow and others were showing red/green/blue! Can you say I was confused just a little?? lol

I hadn't realised that red, yellow and blue was so old school . I remember struggling with them for a DTGD challenge a couple of years back....
I always knew from knee high that the light primaries were different because my dad was a physics teacher, but the different theories of additive and subtractive primaries have changed a lot even since I did physics...so my apologies for any confusion.
But I do think you could have picked up red, yellow and blue from my samples , although some of them do have green too.
Being an artist, the true primary colors are red, blue and yellow. In fine arts and anyone teaching art in school those 3 colors would be the primary colors on a color wheel. They are called primary colors because "they cannot be created by mixing other colors". Primary colors form the basis for color theory or color mixing, as using these three colors it's possible to mix most other colors. Your greens, oranges, and purples would be your secondary colors on your color wheel; which are made from mixing your primary colors. ) LOL... that is your "primary" art lesson for today! Hope that helps. :O)

Cool cactus shot. I'm sorry I missed it and your other photo earlier - don't know what happened to my automatic notification.
We were staying in my aunt's over the weekend.
I only have time to upload one of my photos tonight - this hypericum. (Same colours as your cactus and flower!).
Hypericum.....gorgeous flower! I don't believe I've ever seen one of those before! Love the long stamens on it!
I took several photo for this challenge when my grandsons were visiting, but I can see that I didn't get them in this thread.
My grandson, in the playground. Second photo is of my wash. I didn't realize, until I went to take the wash off the line, that I had placed blue beside red, and in the background were my yellow daylilies.
printing in photography- which is painting with light-you have cyan(greenish blue), magenta(purpleish red) and yellow......
Painting with paint-red, blue and yellow......

I came in through the top gate at work today, in case my old ID card didn't work it was easier for someone to meet me there. Spotted this - and with that wonderful blue sky we've had all day today it's red, yellow and blue.
I haven't been able to get online in a looong while, but was checking stuff out last night. i saw so many challenges that i want to try! only one week left of school (teaching) then i'm free to wander with my camera for 7 weeks! today i had my class outside and one of the students discovered the colourful caterpillar. i got excited cuz i realized he fits into this challenge nicely!
as i was sitting working on my report cards i realized there was another photo op for this challenge right beside me (honestly didn't plan it!). i just hope the pics show up when i post this as it's been so long i can't remember if i did it right!

LOL, I remember when my DH visited friends over in Mozambique, he had photos of their kids eating barbecued rats (or something like it) along with all the local kids, and with just as much relish.

Fabulous coloured sails.
There's something about a row of kayaks like that that is so eye-catching - I noticed something similar when we were on holidays, but without the interest of the lines in the sand.
